Moral Obligation Rating: Fair Warning. I don't take leaving negative reviews lightly, but I feel morally obligated to share what happened at Glow Nail. I went in to get a builder gel set done by Lisa. After a week, three nails started peeling--something that shouldn't happen with this type of product, which typically lasts 3-5 weeks. I've been getting builder gel for years and have never had this issue before. I returned to the salon, and Lisa fixed the peeled nails. But just a few days later, four more nails peeled. When I came back again, I was told to leave because Lisa wasn't there and to come back the next day. Looking back, it's pretty shocking that a salon would prefer a customer walk around for a whole day with visibly peeling nails rather than fixing their mistake. I returned the next morning. Lisa was already clearly upset and said she no longer had the confidence to do my nails, she accused me of trying to "get her fired"... Which was a weird thing to say. I was fine with someone else doing them, as long as it was covered by the salon--this was their error, after all. Lisa said she was "just a worker" and that I'd need to wait for the manager, who would arrive in 30 minutes. I agreed. Instead, a phone was handed to me with a woman named KC on the line. I'd never met her. I explained the situation calmly and my expectations for how to fix it. KC became immediately combative, accusing me of "abusing" her and "using her" for a free set. She began screaming, calling me a liar. I tried to calm her down, which only escalated her behavior. At one point, I had to remove the phone from my ear due to the intensity of her yelling. I put KC on speaker and told the staff nearby that KC had been yelling at me for eleven minutes. They just stared. Eventually, the woman who gave me the phone took it back. I told them I wasn't going to stand there and be yelled at over a mistake they made, and I left. Later, I called back to check if KC had calmed down. She got back on the phone and again told me I needed to return to the shop. I said I'd only come back if they agreed to fix the nails at no cost, if not I would take my business elsewhere. KC lost her temper again and said, "You think you smart, but you not smart. You stupid. You so stupid!" At that point, I lost my patience. I did, indeed, tell KC to go f*** herself and called her a bitch. I told her I'd leave a review, and now--here we are. I hung up the phone. Ten minutes later, the owner, Tammy, called and offered to re-do the nails for free. But by then it was far too late. I had already made multiple visits, been told to leave and come back, been screamed at, insulted, and treated with blatant disrespect--all because their product failed. I took my business to Queen Spa on South Lamar. The prices are comparable, the staff is kind, and I left with perfect nails--and no drama. read more

The worst gel manicure I've ever gotten. Nail polish all on my fingers, messy, and bumpy nail polish. My nail lady was VERY sick with a cough that at one point she had to stop, in the middle of painting a nail, to clear her throat because her cough didn't let her continue. Other employees were just staring and shaking their head at her, but never did one come up to help her or take over. She obviously was in no state to work seeing how messy she did my manicure. Although the workers are very respectful and polite, the person I got, wasn't very considerate of what I wanted to get done. I corrected them and told them many times of what I wanted, but still ignored me and went off on what he wanted. Didn't listen to the length I wanted or the shape. Went to get my nails done on Tuesday evening and by Friday morning 1 nail broke (which I had to drive all the way back to fix on Saturday), and by Saturday evening 2 more nails had broke (which I then had to drive back AGAIN today). The woman who was doing my manicure sliced my cuticle open, painted/dipped over my cuticles, and made the manicure so thick and misshapen I had to get them removed (somewhere else, naturally) the very next day because they hurt/looked horrendous- it took a full hour to get the nails removed so the manicure could be fixed (three rounds of acetone and foil and filing- my nail tech was horrified). When I called for a refund after offering to come in with pictures and any information they might need, they were only offered a gift certificate even though they don't have a no refund policy on their website as far as I could find. I never treat myself like that and it was a blow to have such an awful experience all around! read more

I'm in the Army, so there are specific things I can and cannot have based on my profession. Two things Amy decided it was appropriate to argue with me about. I wear boots DAILY so I need to keep my toe nails short and the edges rounded so that it's not painful. After telling her this, she proceeded no less than three times to tell me how it looks better longer and that she'd fix the shape making them square. I deliberately said "no, thanks. I need the edges round so it doesn't hurt." She then picks up her foot to show me how "good" they look that way. I asked for the aromatherapy pedicure options where there are different scents to choose from. Amy, which I see is true to her nature, feels like she knows best, so instead of the green tea and aloe that I would have preferred, she chose "no. 5 perfume" on her own and decided to tell me "it smells so good." Not only did I not get to choose my scent, had to argue my mail length and shape, she then uses the sand timer which she started WELL before she began the massage (which was just rubbing lotion on my legs) and then went on to shake it (that reduces the time) midway through even though she'd gotten up several times in between taking even more time from the massage overall. Oh let's not forget that she asked if I wanted the water warm, for which I said "hot, please" and her response was "hot will cook your feet." Once the water is hot enough for me I have to mention to her THREE times that there was enough hot water, before actually saying "are you going to turn the hot water off? Because otherwise it's going to be too hot." After this she just looks up giggling and speaking to the person beside her in her first language. I also got my hands done. A new set. It was more of the same. Amy feeling that she knows best, arguing with me about the length of the nails that I was asking her to make shorter since the measurement from my finger tip to the tip of the mail cannot exceed 1/4 inch. She goes back and forth with me about my mail beds being longe on one finger and it looking uneven even after I've already expressed very clearly that the length from the top of my nail is what I care about BECAUSE ARMY. At this point the experience has been so aggravating that I decided not to make any more corrections and just get out of the shop as soon as possible. But...no. I can't possibly leave when there's such obvious error. For instance some nails missing acrylic on the sides, and one mail in particular having a huge dent in it. Last but not least Amy argued with me that I have not been cut. Reason being that "there's no blood." Because of course the only time you're cut is if there is blood. Never mind that paper CUTS don't usually bleed, and the way you realize you're cut is by alcohol or something making it burn. Which is exactly what happened. She sprayed alcohol on my nails and it was excruciating, but me explaining the pain and how I'm cut, she still managed to say "no no no there's mo cut"....because surely I'm making this up now. I have had a decent experience here before. But Amy....she was absolutely horrible. Professionalism and quality of work are embarrassing, especially as she kept mentioning how she was "a professional." Very unsatisfied with the service and end result of my nails. It's very frustrating to receive service like this because going to these shops they place an almost uncomfortable pressure on you to tip, and they treat you badly when they don't think that you will tip, all the while they give piss poor service, and offer a rushed job on the nails you have to now spend two weeks or more looking at. read more

The staff was very friendly and took me as a walk-in despite being busy. I didn't have to wait to be taken care of, but my nails were awful. I got a pedicure and full set SNS. They did both at the same time which is always wonderful. My pedicure was perfect, but my nails took over an hour (no frills, just one solid color), but they were so thick! During the manicure, the technician didn't remove most of the acrylic, butchered my nails, ignored my cuticles and kept saying "wait wait" when I asked a question. I had the most wonderful experience at Glow Nails! Definitely one of the top mani/pedi's I've ever received. I brought along my 4 year old daughter as well, and they were so kind and accommodating to her, and even brought her a juice while we were waiting. Their child size pedicure chairs are sooooo cute! The cleanliness of the salon is top notch -- all stations were thoroughly cleaned after services, and the technician's tools were in sealed autoclave sterilization pouches when they were brought out for service. And the manicure came with some shade about my cuticles. But it lasted through a small flood, moving, a trip abroad, and three formal events (it was an eventful few weeks). The gel mani and regular pedicure ran about $85 before tip, so not the cheapest. But given the longevity, it's a hell of a bargain. read more
