Not my favorite tacos in Brooklyn (there's Sunset Park after all), but in the restaurant desert between Fort Greene and Building 77, it's a nice option to have. Stopped in around lunchtime for some tacos. There was a guy cleaning the floors and tables. Not sure if they had just opened, but it was coming up on 1pm. Noticed he wasn't wearing a mask (actually, nobody working there was). Ordered three tacos - shrimp, al pastor, and steak. Got them all loaded with guac and everything. Took a lot longer than I expected - I assume some things were straight out of the fridge/freezer like the steak since it was on the colder side. The al pastor and shrimp were definitely my favorites. They also sell a limited amount of groceries, like hot sauce, tortillas, chicharrones, fruit, and some Mexican candy. They also sell rolls of toilet paper if you're in a pinch. No outdoor seating, so gotta walk and eat. read more

So while this neighborhood store transformed itself from a simple store-bodega to a bright cafeteria style eatery. It is clear the transformation has caused prices to go up. While i dont have a problem with paying, quality has to be under control, right along with taste and consistency. My torta had a thin, sliced like piece of chicken. Let me just say i forgot i was having a milanesa de pollo. The usual suspects were there, avocado, beans, pickled carrots was un expected but they were good. Sadly it left me unsatisfied and hungry. Every item is super overpriced. Not many options and food and juices are low quality (even by NYC bodega standards)

We landed at GMC Temaxcal Deli after dinner plans fell through at a nearby joint, and I am really glad we stumbled across it. When looking here on Yelp we have scrolled past this place a few times, mostly because we thought it was just a bodega that had a little food in it. Inside, you see that this is a legit, albeit small, Mexican Food restaurant that happens to sell a few groceries. Prices are super low, nearly everything is made fresh in house, including tortillas. It's clean, tasty, and locally owned. What's not to love? We got a baby-sized Carne Asada burrito (comes with guac and all the fixings included), some Mole chicken enchiladas, a tamale, chips and guac (both homemade), and 3 Jarritos. Total came out to just $40 and we left stuffed with a doggy bag. This place is nestled on Park under the BQE so you may not notice it unless you live/work in the area, but it's close to the Navy Yard, and worth a trip if looking for something tasty in the area. I am trying not to use the word "authentic" when describing cuisine, but as somebody who grew up in Southern California and had access to Mexican food which is close to what you would actually find in Mexico, Temaxcal Deli seems about right. 1. This place is not what it seems. I am so angry right now. First of all their online prices are purposely misleading to get customers to order. 2. When picked up the order it was significantly higher. 3. When I made them aware they seem to already know but didn't bother to tell me. 4. It's been like this over two years now and I'm sick of it. I am done buying anything from them. 5. My order was incomplete, missing 50% and so I explained to the cashier , Lady, and grumpy older man. The grumpy older man which I assume is the man in charge insulted me terribly in front of customers. I am so in disbelief , disappointed and disgusted of how they handled it. I didn't receive a refund just bad attitude. Horrible customer service. The best of business bureau should look into this place ASAP. read more

Mmm. It is surprisingly hard to find a good taco in NYC. But here, under the BQE overpass is a little shop with some tasty food. I tried the chicken and spicy pork tacos both on handmade tortillas. They came with cilantro, onion and guacamole on top and a few pickled cucumber and mild peppers on the side. There was also a green salsa. The meat was fresh and cooked well. The seasonings were great. There is also a good bike shop near by so if you need a tune up and a taco this is your spot! read more

If I could I wouldn't even put 1star this place is terrible. Instead of making me feel comfortable and like a customer, they treated me like no human should be treated!! I ordered from them and half of my order was missing! So I called and the lady said ok no problem we will give you store credit when you come again, I said thank you no problem! I arrived the next day they were making my food and the lady said ok all set once I was walking out a old guy started saying "are you crazy you have to pay, you must be dumb or crazy" so I was speechless and did not want to start a conflict so I left the food and walked out, NEVER AGAIN IM STEPPING A FOOT IM THERE!!!!! read more

They are so authentic! Can't find a better Mexicans place around Forte Green/Navy Yard. Their fresh juices are legit! If you want real authentic Mexican food this is the place! Castro's and los Pollitos on Myrtle Ave or the Mexican place behind Chung Chungs is garbage I just wish they were open later on weekends they close at 6pm. read more

Wow. I love this place. I ordered lunch here last week and I will be ordering again. Best chili relleno I've had on the East coast. What a great find for me, it's unfortunate my office is moving out of dumbo soon, because I won't be able to eat here regularly for much longer. Everything about this was so good. I got mine with a salad and tortillas as sides and it was a great choice because I didn't know if i wanted tacos or the plate. I ended up having both options. I just wish it was a tiny bit spicier. But I'm always looking for that with food, so I wouldn't say it took away from the quality. I loved it just the way it was. Is you are in Brooklyn heights area, check this place out. Traveled out of our way to have some delicious carne asada tacos, carnita chorizo tacos, steak quesadilla, and mole poblano enchiladas with chicken with the owner's special spicy sauce. I have ordered from GMC Temaxcal a lot over the past few years on Seamless, the food is generally good, however that all changed last night. The food was terrible. The burrito was made with chicken, not pork, (how I ordered it), and the chicken in the torta was rock-hard, inedible. Maybe they had someone new cooking, i'm not sure. But when I called seamless to get refunded, the restaurant flat out refused, blamed it on me and said I would have to call them so we can get to the bottom of this. Absolute nonsense. I will never order from them again. You lost a loyal customer today, hope that $20 bucks you save was worth it. read more

What can I say, its a hidden gem. No really, it is almost hidden, which is a shame because the food is bomb and the owners are super nice. My first time coming in here I needed a specific ingredient for something I was making then realized they served food too. What I noticed most though was for the 10 minutes I was there the phone was ringing off the hook with delivery orders, all spoken in Spanish. Once I heard that I knew this was going to be legit. As a Los Angeles native I will say not only is everything good quality (like white meat chicken without a bunch of grisel) but the prices are super reasonable and the owner brought me a cup of pudding once when they were out of the flan I wanted. No charge. I just love that kind of customer service, and I think this place will be around for a long time. Do note that this is more of a pick up or delivery type of place. Very authentic, and very low-key. I've always dined in since I work a 2 minute walk away and I've come here for lunch a couple times. Everything's made to order, and is ready relatively fast. I would say that the prices are a little steep. Paid $12 for a small plate of shrimp fajitas - I was a little disappointed by the portion. But the taste was great. Wow. Ok I admit I only had 1 thing 1 time. But this is perfection. Chile relleno torta. Standard deli bread with a very tasty egg battered poblano, soaked in red mild salsa, dressed with shredded lettuce, tomato, crema & pickled jalapeno. It's a proper battle between you, sandwich & the paper it's wrapped in. One in which you will surely come out the winner. $7 and will keep you fueled. Pure taste and, though a little hard to maintain, is well worth the struggle. Do not eat on the go or in a car. Have plenty of napkins. No additional hot sauce needed. A very necessary mexican injection that is hiding under the BQE. A gentrified version of this would surely be about $15 and would likely be at smorgasburg with a 30 minute line.
