Giving one star only because Dr. Palter seems pretty knowledgeable. Other than that I wouldn't speak positively about anything else. I called so many times and I'd either never get a call back or no update. It took emails, calls and 2 months before he finally reviewed my MRI. I expressed my disappointment many times so I'm sure he knew and yet offered no apology when we spoke. Imagine no one calling you back to the point where you have to leave a comment on his instagram page and he calls right away. I also suffer from ptsd from past trauma. Due to that I begged to be put to sleep for a procedure and they refused. They are an office that performs procedures with anesthesia so it seemed like they didn't really care that it would retraumatize me. Seems like he needs to spend less time on social media and more time educating his office staff on how to provide care for those like myself with infertility. The last call I had with someone she kept saying, "I'm being professional " and "I don't want to argue," while I'm explaining that anti anxiety meds don't really seem to help me and I'd need to be to sleep. Be very careful of the harsh reviews on this site. I almost believed them. I tried to get pregnant for 2 years before seeing Dr Palter. We called the office in late October, had some initial testing done in early November, a consult, a monitored cycle and 2 back to back IUIs on 2/14 and 2/15. Two weeks later, I got my positive test. 9 months later my perfect baby boy was born. Dr Palter, AnneMarie, and the amazing team at Gold Coast are responsible for my dream coming true -- my beautiful family. I thank them in my head 100 times a day. Nothing about this office is "self service" or uncaring. Everyone from the receptionists to the blood draw nurses to the ultrasound tech to the RNs to Dr Palter himself wants the best for you. Dr Palter and his staff at Gold Coast IVF were amazing through our fertility journey. After going to 2 other Fertility specialists on Long Island, Dr Palter's office was a breath of fresh air. At other offices we felt like we were just another number and copay, at Dr palter's office we felt like family. At our initial consultation we sat with Dr Palter and he answered all of our questions and we never felt like he was rushing us out the door, he took the time to explain what our options were, which option he thought would be best for us, and what to expect going through treatment. When we started our journey the nurses were amazing! Very attentive, made sure we understood everything regarding medication (how and where to administer) i was very nervous being the one to give my wife her shots but they made me feel comfortable and assured me that I could do it! Nurse Gena held a class for us to attend and I felt 100% more comfortable giving my wife her shots after attending that class. Gena and the rest of the nurses (including Barbara and Ann Marie) would always greet us by name in the hall, even when we didn't see either of them during our visit. It really added to the whole "family" feel instead of just being another patient. Whenever we had questions or unsure of how to read results on the portal a nurse would always answer our questions and explain everything to us over the phone. I could go on and on about how wonderful our experience was at Gold Coast, we have even referred friends to his office and they are now patients of his, having a similar (GREAT) experience. Dr. Palter and his team run an extremely efficient practice, but what makes Gold Coast special is how warm and caring the staff are - they're wonderful. Years later, I went back for a FET (I'm currently pregnant) and it was great to see that things were still run so well, the staff so warm, proactive and knowledgeable. On the rare occasions there was an issue with a prescription or insurance, the staff handled it quickly. The facility is super clean; scheduling is convenient and there's a web portal where the instructions the nurses verbally give you are written out, so you can refer back if need be. I can say I had an awful experience . This place is a factory . Dr palter acts like initially he cares . Actually he doesn't once they get you started . To pay a doctor 15,000 and never get a call back is insane to me . This is such a sensitive issue for women and they could care less. I had one amazing nurse Ann Marie . Well, where do I begin? I REALLY wished I had read these reviews before going here. As it was, I was referred by FemmePro and they must have an affiliation because had my GYN not referred me they would have not even crossed my radar...and we have been going here for various consults and testing for about 3 months now. And I am really considering that this could be the last time I go to either practice. See, this whole time I wanted to give Dr. Palter and his team/ staff the benefit of the doubt. He seemed genuine enough, knowledgeable and we didn't have to wait too long to see him. But little did I know that beneath the allure of the nice office was a poorly run place where those who were there to help during an emotional and confusing part of our journey to create a family either seemed like they never knew what is going on or are a bit on the rude side. Time and time again I have been frustrated, bewildered or just plain confused as to how a practice can be run this way. We got to see the doctor, ask all our burning questions and now looking back I'm truly not even sure what to believe. Not that I am in any way qualified to know, but he dismissed our questions pretty fast in saying that nutrition, exposure to toxins or tech waves or our lifestyle choices didn't matter much when it comes to our fertility---well then whyyy are there so many sources out there saying modifying such things is beneficial? And poor habits are detrimental? All he seemed to be obsessed with was if we smoked, so much so he repeated it again on our 2nd visit! Shouldn't that simple fact that we are both non-smokers be notated in our file somewhere?? And why is that the only thing that seemed to matter? At first I thought it was reassuring but now I'm not so sure. Not to mention once we agreed to do various tests it was nearly impossible to get results as soon as they were made available. When we called or asked in person, we were dismissed by the receptionist/ nurse and told to just look on the Portal (the website). And well, unless you went to Med school you will have no idea how to read the results on your own! And I could go on and on about how tests were supposed to be sent through insurance and they weren't. How one day I was told one thing would be sent to a lab spare me the full cost, but then as I left I was still charged the full cost anyways! Even the smallest details were wrong like my birthday being printed not once, not twice, but three times on the label that is supposed to identify my blood! All the writing was on the wall....And yet it took what happened this week to really set me over the edge. I get a phone call early in the morning with the receptionist telling me they have been trying to reach me (funny because I got NO missed calls from a number I have saved in my phone ALL this time) about the last test results. She said the doctor wanted to talk to me, please hold. Now knowing my experience when I get a call like this its not to deliver good news. I watched the time tick by on my phone...5 min+ she had me on the line only for someone else who was not the doctor (I presume a nurse) to tell me the doctor is unavailable! I then proceed to ask what test they are calling about (I lost track at this point and thought I had all my results already). She explained which one and that it "must not be good" if the doctor wanted to call me. But she said abruptly that she would leave him a message and would call back later!!! WTF?! Not only did YOU call me, but now I have the worst a pit of anxiety in my stomach all because you had to pre-deliver some "bad" news? NOOOO. I gathered my thoughts and called right back. But I have had it and I don't care. I told that receptionist that it was not right to have my morning ruined all because of an ill-timed phone call to me that I then had to be placed on hold for ONLY TO BE TOLD THE DOCTOR WAS BUSY?! That so did not sit well with me. And guess what!? I was placed on a brief hold and maybe only 10 minutes later after the doctor was "too busy" he was right there on the other end of the phone. WOW. Very interesting. So he told me my results. Regardless of what they are (obviously that's personal),the fact that I had to put my foot down to get them like that is beyond me. We are just a couple (like the many others I assume he has as patients) that fertility has not been easy for, that are emotionally fragile because they are not bringing forth life as easily as they would have liked. And to be agitated as much by someone who is supposed to care about your well-being and have a team that emulates that... well I now know this is not the place to find that. I am glad all I did was testing here because if I had spent any more money here I would be more upset. And this is my 1st review on Yelp because I am NEVER one to publicly complain. But I needed everyone to know my story. And if you want a baby, find a much better practice and doctor. read more

Underneath the friendly veneer of smiles, hugs, and talk of miracles, there is an evil, ugly side to Dr. Palter's office. I'll drop the happy ending now, we were able to achieve natural pregnancy without the help of this facility. My wife & I are reasonable patients with a big threshold for discomfort. This place truly tested that, by not only putting us through grief, but making us wait for extended periods to experience it. Basically, it all started with the procedure to check the boxes off to find out what's wrong with us. I dropped off a sample, blood was taken from both parties, and scans were done. After calling 2 or 3 times to find out the results of my semen analysis, I thought I'd found success a third time when the front desk said they would give the note to the nurse and/or andrologist. We came to find out the notes never made it to this person during a later call my wife made. Not only that, she had called a bit irate, while typical me continued to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Finally, reception returned to the phone to tell my wife that the results of my tests were "not good" - a thorough medical assessment, no doubt! It's one thing to not return calls, it's quite another to give a half-assed medical analysis over the phone. Most definitely, this was a spiteful move. It sent her to tears, which I'm sure the staff of Dr Palter's will get a kick out of after reading this review...since they lack compassion and have little to no regard for human life, despite their line of work. The nurse stated she couldn't tell her anything else and that we had to wait for our appointment which was scheduled 2 weeks away. Desperate to get some answers sooner, I called and was adamant about a new appointment. They were able to squeeze us in a week sooner which still felt like an eternity, due to the vague news my wife received over the phone. When our appointment day finally arrived, we headed to their office right on time. 30 minutes went by which we accepted as normal for busy medical organizations like this. After an additional 30 minutes went by, this started to test my wife's patience, as not a single staff member came out to give us an update within this hour. My wife had to seek out the extremely helpful and friendly front desk members, who happened to be stuffing their faces with pizza while we sat miserable in the empty waiting room - 3 other couples had come and gone in the time we arrived, now over an hour from our original appointment time. The lady at the front desk says she isn't sure what's taking so long and she'll check for us. When she returns she says it should be no longer than 10 more minutes. Sure! An additional 30 minutes goes by and we are both at our breaking point. My wife has to ask the front desk AGAIN what is taking so long, but none of the team seemed too interested in finding out. Next, the Director of Operations comes out, offering a luke-warm apology for the wait. We did not accept this feigned apology, and despite preaching a "warm, caring environment to each and every one of our special and unique patients", the director's tone changed to pure apathy...aptly so, it's a true reflection of the entire organization. After nearly TWO HOURS, we finally get called into a rushed 10 minute meeting with Dr. Palter. The reason for our wait? A medical emergency/procedure he had to perform. We understand the need for that, but a simple notice from the staff would have been appreciated. He sifts through his notes like it were a dry reading of a script...then gives us the news that conceiving naturally would more than likely not happen, although we could continue trying (meanwhile we were pregnant when he gave us this news). No insights were offered, no hope - this was now a business opportunity. Dollar signs flashed in his eyes as he tried to upsell us on the very expensive IUI option. At no point did I feel any route was being offered to us with empathy & personalized care. Avoid the added stress to an already stressful situation, and look elsewhere for a fertility specialist/team. read more

Dr. Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF is one of the best fertility doctors EVER!!!!. When I went to his office five years ago I had stage four endometriosis, eleven large fibroids, and scar tissue from previous surgeries. Prier to going to Gold Coast IVF, I went to four other fertility doctors and they all told me I had a less then 2% change of ever becoming pregnant. I was really depressed and discouraged. After three years of dealing with other horrible doctors I finally went to Dr. Palter! Making the decision to go to Gold Coast IVF was the best decision I have ever made! He went above and beyond for me. After the first IVF cycle with Dr. Palter I finally became pregnant! This is the most AMAZING fertility center anywhere. I went there after not being successful 3 other places and I read GCIVF had the top success rate in the USA! No only was I successful but the process was night and day better than the other places. It is run like boutique one on one center. Everyone knew who I was --- everyone knew my next step. Dr Palter was always available and made sure I was comfortable-- he tells it like it is but I was sick of doctors lying to me and just saying don't worry everything is fine. I LOVE his caring honesty and hate my old doctors that just quickly said what they thought I wanted to hear --only to be disappointed later. If you have insurance coverage for ivf, expect for it to all be used up in every possible way. They will try to get every last penny no matter what that means for your treatment. I know a few people who paid out of pocket and had straight forward care because they knew that's all they had money for. With insurance they will basically make you do more than one cycle. Dr. Palter has zero care for the actual patients. He lied about things, laughed in my face, and beside being a terrible human, he's not a good doctor. Someone I know who went to him was called by him to ask her to write a good review on here since there were so many bad ones. Clearly the majority speaks volumes. This is a "one size fits all" factory. You are forced to take medicine longer than you may need so that you align with the other patients going thru ivf that month. After a failed cycle I was left with a 2 minute phone call to tell me my eggs were all poor quality and that I needed a genetic test that would take a month for results.. after a month of anxiously waiting results I had to call them for the results which were fine. When I tried getting my records it took over a month. Luckily I just had a fantastic cycle at my new IVF clinic and shockingly enough my egg quality was great. Terrible wait times. Doctor is arrogant and lacks compassion. Do your research and meet with a few doctors before making a decision on where to place your trust. read more

On my first visit I arrived excited and waited for over an hour. During this time 2 stressed out couples came and went even though I was there before them. Neither left happy or reassured considering their unhappiness. After the in take it was down hill from there. Dr Paltner looked at my age of 44 and main streamed the conversation to all the expensive procedures without even talking about an IUI. If i lied on my app maybe he would be more accepting of this but no. Me made me a promise to start Clomid on my next visit and then said no, Im to old even though my numbers were low and my eggs were in good shape, I don't think my baby's factor should be in the hands of one person and i looked for a bigger location with many doctors to give a more positive feedback. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for another Doctor. This place appears to give a sh*t up until you actually get there and meet with the staff. They send a welcome candle and say how excited they are that you chose them and they cant wait to meet you and start this journey together or something along those lines...that's THE ONLY NICE thing about them! You will wait...and wait...and wait to be seen even when you have a scheduled appointment. If you need a follow up, you will also need to wait- almost 2 months, which is insane in my opinion. No one ever explains whats going on or makes you feel at ease, and then when you ask whats going on it seems like you are annoying them. Dr. Palter has a lot of degrees and is probably very smart and good at what he does, but what he doesn't have a degree in is bedside manner! I never wanted to go back, I never wanted to call and find out results because everyone sounded so annoyed- All. The. Time. Also- you will pretty much deal with the nurses, I hardly saw the Doctor, which is pretty comforting right since you are there to see a specialist!? Deciding to go to a Fertility doctor is stressful enough so the last thing a patient needs is to feel bad about asking questions regarding treatments and the next step in the process. Note to the Dr: Patients are what keep you in business so maybe you and your staff should start acting like it and have a little compassion- it's not an easy road. read more

I went to Dr. Palter for over 2 years. 4 unsuccessful pregnancies. But, that is fine. I get it, he can't promise pregnancy. However, it is my final experience with the office that just made me feel like they don't care at all and I was just a number to them. My last Transfer was our final one covered by Insurance. Unfortunately the pregnancy didn't take. They have an online portal with blood results so I already knew by about 3PM. The doctor called me at 7:30PM to talk to me and said results couldn't be left on the voicemail. I didn't get the message until 9:00PM, so I figured I would call the office back in the morning. I called back and they told me he was with a new patient. They asked for me to call back and at some point they would "hopefully" be able to connect us. I said, can he just call me back when he is free? They said that is fine, and they would let him know. Well, I never got a call back! I get that MAYBE he didn't get the message! But, I never had ANY follow up at all and it has been months! Every other pregnancy that didn't take, they would either call me or message me in the portal with instructions on what to do next.. This time, it was like they knew that the insurance coverage ran out and their money flow was done.. So, they just didn't care anymore. Truly heartbreaking for such a difficult and emotional process. When I came to Dr. Palter I was heartsick and pretty much giving up that I could ever have a baby. the first minute I walked in I knew this was a special place. I spent a lot of money here and did 4 IVF cycles- boy was it a horrible experience. Who is to know why none of them worked? I am not going to blame anyone for that because i am not a doctor. What I can attest to is what a nightmare this place is when dealing with the administrative staff! They are useless and quite honestly don't care about you the paying client. Dr. Palter sort of comes off as a greedy pig. All of these clients and just him....You will not get any individual attention, you will barely speak to him or hear from him. If you call the after hours number because you have a question or a situation that you don't know if its dire or not, he will get back to you with a passive aggressive tone basically letting you know that you are a complete bother to him. If you are not an assertive person, who double and triple checks what they tell you, you are almost bound to have a mistake with something... After leaving and seeing other doctors all of my premonitions are confirmed- there is much better care, customer service, and all of the above elsewhere!!!!
