I have never eaten at a Golden Chick but after reading the negative reviews I thought I would give them a chance. The negative reviews seemed nitpicking, whiney and not worth the 1 star rating. I went through the drive thru. The place looked very clean outside. I will give a hat tip to the person who got a chicken salad sandwich by mistake. I ordered a chicken sandwich and the girl asked if I wanted chicken salad sandwich or the Big and Golden chicken sandwich. I told her Big and Golden - so you need to specify. The girl at the window was extremely friendly. She was not wearing a mask - which this is Texas and we don't have a mask mandate. And I'm good with it. Today I went to golden chick and I am glad to report that I am never going back. I was originally gonna go to sonic but all the screens were broken, so I sadly had to go here. To be honest I wasn't expecting this to be great but MY GOD it was horrible. So I walked in and I got an "original" spicy chicken sandwich. After we ordered I went to the restroom and it was a run of the mill dirty restaurant bathroom, and it wouldn't lock but I came back and sat down and it was also FREZZING in there. Anyway my food came on a tray straight out of a middle school, it was honestly sad but now it's time for the food. So I tried the fry's first and the crunch was good but there was ZERO SEASONING!! I had to add 2 SALT PACKETS. But the sandwich was even worse. First off the top bun looked like the employees took turns pocking their fingers in the bread because it was VERY deformed, but I took a bite and it literally tasted LIKE NOTHING. I was shocked they managed to make a sandwich tasted like air. And the chicken and bread were SUPER DRY and looked and tasted exactly like KFC. if they are secretly stealing their chicken I would not be surprised. The only semi decent thing here was the free ice cream but it tasted like I was eating straight up vanilla extract. Put in a simple order for a chicken sandwich and got chicken salad on a bun. Wtf complete morons can't even read a ticket.

Today is May 14 and we had a bad batch of chicken. Out of the 4pc fried chicken in my order 3 of them smelled and tasted bad. I took it to the server and she refused to acknowledge the issue and turned to the kitchen staff to ask what date was on the batch of chicken that she prepared. The girl answered May 2 which was almost 2 weeks ago! She replaced the 3 pcs of chicken. However, I smelled the new batch and they had the same smell. She then refused to acknowlege the bad smell and refused to replace the chicken. How can you not acknowledge that the batch of fried chicken is not bad when they were as of May 2nd? The manager was helpful but the lead girl in the red shirt should learn to be courteous to customers. read more

ZERO STARS! Should be closed down! I have never written a yelp review but the experience I had here yesterday was so horrific...here I am. We stopped by the drive-thru to pick up food for our family and after ordering drove to the window to pay. Upon pulling up we saw the girl at the window was not wearing a mask. When she opened the window I asked her if the people preparing our food were wearing masks and she said "No." We are in the midst of a pandemic where a virus has killed 2 MILLION people so far and these people think they can prepare and breathe on food that I am going to put into my mouth and the mouths of my children!? What are they thinking?! What is the company thinking to allow this to occur?! I am so glad I asked because I wouldn't have known. I felt deceived and am still angry and disgusted. I have and will continue to tell everyone I know about this experience. I realize after looking at their website that the company leaves that decision up to the rules of the local area and franchise owners but there must be some basic standard of practice for the parent company. This particular store is irresponsible and quite frankly a DANGEROUS place to eat, unless you're not at all worried about getting covid and dying...then I'm sure it's the perfect spot for you. I have filed a complaint online and have not yet heard back. I called the corporate number and they don't even have a professional messaging system set up. Very unprofessional. I find it interesting how the company has only responded to the one positive comment below and ignored all of the complaints. Food was fine, stopped here on the way back from San Antonio. Staff was super rude. Especially the girl in the front who took our order. Almost as if they were being racist. Another Hispanic lady came in and she was treated poorly too. But all the white people who came in were greeted with smiles. read more

Average chicken that is bland on the inside. The fried skin is pretty good. The fries are so-so. The chicken itself really needs some more flavor. Has potential but needs improvement. read more
