It's a nice place just to have a wander around to be honest, there's far too much and too many things for me to list. It also has good parking, and good disabled access, as well as friendly and helpful staff.

My grandparents…read morewould be so proud as they were always wanting to go out for a drive and day out to B&Q etc when I was a little kid... But saying that - this isn't B&Q or just some rubbish shop just selling plants and trees - it has everything you could want in life and was the perfect place to spend a wet and windy Friday off work with our 2 little kids. Here's the ace points: * A fantastic food hall serving food from local suppliers and so much tasty stuff - in house butchers, bakers etc * Huge Reserve Wines area with great selection of vino on offer * Possibly one of the best craft beer selections to take away - at least 30 different breweries from local to further afield. * 3 great cafes and one specialising in tapas and champagne - PIMP living! *loads of kiddy activities and sand pit etc, great kids toys shop * loads of plants and outdoorsy stuff it that floats your boat... * Good quality coffee - proper sized flat whites... So there you have it - my new favourite place to hang out. You can keep your pretentious hipster joints - I'm hanging out here in future!

This is a very well designed space which feels surprisingly big as you walk around it. There's a good variety of flowers, fruit trees, shade plants and more for sale. There's a gluten free, vegan cafe on site. I saw a sign for vegan hotdogs, cakes and coffee when I was there but didn't sample anything. There's lots of seating at the cafe but also lots of little quiet spots with seating all over the centre. It feels like a community park as much as a business. There's also a 'schoolroom' with hay bales for the students. This place is not the cheapest garden centre but then your money is going to support a community not B & Q shareholders. Also all the plants are organic and in peat free compost.

Poor staff that were on duty, were run off their feet! running out of milk then clean crockery! we waited yet again to pay at check out then no clean cutlery had to wait for the kitchen to wash some! May I suggest that they get the staff to cover these occasions or turn away coaches! or you will have no regular customers left.

As well as garden related products it has an aquatic section for both tropical and cold water fish and also assorted gifts throughout the store. Downstairs there are clothes both for everday wear and also outdoors e.g Barbour jackets and walking boots. There is a small specialist foodie section with upmarket sauces, pastas, herbs, spices, bottled beers, ciders, spirits and liqueurs. Also a kichenwares department, books, toys, greetings cards and gift wrap etc. The restaurant seemed to be doing a reasonable trade when I visited and the cream cakes in the display cabinet looked wonderful, though I resisted the temptation on this occasion :-) At Christmas it becomes a winter wonderland with a huge range of decorations, lights etc. and Father Christmas comes to visit for the kids. What more can one ask? The last time I ate in the cafe, which can get very hot as its all glass, a robin was dancing across tables and saying hello to people. Unhygienic perhaps but great nonetheless. The food, as a rule, is lovely, but they stop serving hot meals at 2pm - unless you want to get stuff that's been sitting out, eat as close to then as possible. My fiancee and I bought a converter thingymajig for around two quid allowing us to turn run of the mill 2 litre plastic bottles into birdfeeders. An invention of Dragons Den proportions, and a handy way of not spending a bundle on containers to feed tits and things. For gardeners this place is a must, in my opinion. Its one drawback, I think, the toilets are a bit of a trek from the cafe. For pensioners or those with mobility issues, this can prove a problem.

The books in particular are always very reasonably priced. The cafe is sweet, full of old dears and never too expensive. And there Christmas displays are always lovely. To get into the garden centre on during the festive season you have to walk through a snowy path where they display all their trees. They do also sell real Christmas trees outside.

There is a large piece of land with around ten parallel sunken beds filled with pretty average bedding plants, the colour is muted and the area is somewhat barren resembling an infertile allotment rather than a garden centre. A huge greenhouse contains pretty much nothing: a depressingly sparse range of greetings cards beside a shelf of urns; some organic eggs; a few planters and peculiarly a bookcase of second hand fiction: a strange concoction of goods which does not quite match any requirements. While I was not there to buy, I still felt that the range was very limited and the offerings were poor. The site is pretty inaccessible for those without a vehicle and to go out of your way to come here is pretty pointless

They also have a great pond and aquarium section with all you need to kit yourself out from pond liner to tanks to filters and fish. There assortment of fish is amazing and the kids love seeing them even if not buying, they also have more exotic items for your needs. They have a large gift area with things for everyone, adults and children with pottery, jewellery, ornaments, accesories and toys, books and games. They also have a reasonable but standard craft supply section. There is a large section that is changed to suit the season and stocks garden furniture, barbecues, picnic sets or as is currently on display, Christmas items from trees to decorations and tableware. The cafe stocks snacks, hot and cold food, cakes and full hot meals or salads. Its a decent range with varying prices for items. Outside seating is also available along with a play area for children and a resource centre you can get some great info from. They run demonstartion events throught the year for all different things and you can join their loyalty programme for a low annual fee and it gives you discount and 2 free coffees or teas a month. The instore deli is a delight and one of my favourite parts with cheeses, pates and speciality goods and a Broughs Butchers that stocks a great range too.
