I met a friend here for lunch today. I asked my friend who arrived before me for a booth and when I arrived a few minutes later was surprised to not see him seated at any of the many open booths by the windows but seated at a table all the way in the back. He said he asked for a booth and was seated in an addition in the back at a table and there were no other patrons there at the time. The elder lady wearing a mask took our order and then came and brought our soup and tea. The soup was good yet not very hot. The lunch arrived in a reasonable time and we ate our food which was pretty good. The weakest link here was the unfriendly waitress and her giving us the absolute bear minimum in service. My friend even said not to tip her. After giving us the check she took forever to came get my credit card. I'd give it four stars if we had a waitress that was even slightly more then a walking corpse. read more

Dragged (again) by the women in my life to a gringo Chinese joint, because they can't get enough of these places. It was pretty much like dozens of others in the area just like them, as in, essentially a Chinese diner. I tend to order Egg Fu Yong in these places, because you never know what to expect. Well this one was....interesting. It was chicken fu yong, and as you can see in my pic, it basically was little omelets covered with sliced deli chicken over the top. Please don't expect me to tell you it was good. As usual, the ladies all loved their meals, of course. The best thing about this joint was exceptionally good service; our waitress, all the other dining floor gals, everyone. Place was clean, as well. Oh Golden Dragon you have my heart in so many ways! I eat here often, possibly too often! I have tried so many menu items and have enjoyed all but a few. I am not particularly a fan of some of their breaded chicken dishes as they use a dark meat fatty blend of chicken (I.e. General chicken or sesame chicken). On the contrary, if you order sweet and sour chicken or lemon chicken it is a breast of chicken, lightly battered then sliced. Their chicken dishes that aren't breaded are all white meat and cooked to a soft perfection alongside some perfectly cooked, fresh vegetables. A few of my favorite chicken dishes are cashew chicken, crockery chicken and the hot and spicy chicken. The beef dishes here are where they truly hit the mark! The beef is always tender and never fatty which makes my heart, mouth and stomach very happy! I enjoy the ginger beef, beef with snow peas and special J noodle soup with beef! Chow mein: most of their chow mein is the celery, onion and crispy noodle mix which I am not a fan but their house chow mein is where they really score! Long noodles cooked perfect with beef that melt in your mouth and just the right amount of veggies. Fried rice is nothing to write home about but hits the spot for this carb loving preggo beast! The place is older and could use new carpet and a deep cleaning but their kitchen seems insanely clean and their bathrooms are never dirty which is a good sign. The service is fast and attentive and they offer lunch specials everyday other than holidays. Marcy is by far my favorite server and genuinely cares about those she interacts with regularly. I hear her call many a person by their first name and she knows their orders by heart. She takes pride in her service and has been working there for years. Don't get me wrong, she can be abrupt and a bit matter of fact but that doesn't stop the community of post falls from adoring her and her genuine heart. I so wanted to like this restaurant, I miss having good Chinese food. I always base my liking a Chinese restaurant by their General Tsos. Well to start, I chose this place on several people telling me it's by far the best Chinese food in the area Eeeeek...I guess no more Chinese food for me in this area ever then. Okay, the sauce ..well....wow..I don't know if it was the sauce or the meat but it tasted like it had gone bad - putrid. I've worked where I've had to deal with dead bodies due to my profession, so I know decay when I smell it. Something wasn't right about this General Tsos. If it was the sauce ..They really really need to rethink it, if not they need to look at a better refrigeration system or rotate their stock..something. I just couldn't stomach it. My husband smelled it and said it smelled "odd" to him, not bad..just "odd." To be fair, I do have a better sense of smell then he does. .to my dismay in this case. He said his shrimp in lobster sauce was "ok," not great not something he'd get again. .I tried his and he was correct, it was just okay. I just wish we had dined in so I could have returned my meal. Although, I'm not sure if I'd trust the next dish. Again, I'm not positive it had gone bad or just tasted oddly bad. Even the chicken which is supposed to be deep fried with a crunchy coating...wasn't crunchy. Needless to say I threw my entire meal out. What a waste. I even tried the crab rangoon we ordered, again I didn't care for them. They weren't bad, just not any crab Rangoon I've ever tasted like these before. Normally they are pretty simple cream cheese, crab, garlic, salt..a few other spices. These were a mixture of...I don't even know. Again, not bad just odd. My husband liked them so he ate them. I'm so disappointed, I wanted to find a good Chinese restaurant here..having lived all over the U.S and my favorite food being Chinese food...I was hoping to find a place here. Post Falls has a landmark on Seltice and Spokane Streets, the Golden Dragon. For at least eighteen years , my family and I have eaten at this wonderful red vinyl covered , mom and pop restaurant. This American style Chinese eatery looks like a cutout from the late sixties- and seventies. , friendly place, and every time I go in I am reminded that the food is better than could remember. My favorite's are Hot and Sour soup, Kung POW Chicken, extra spicy, Pork fried rice. There are many other dishes such as Almond Chicken, Chow Mein with your choice of protein, and if someone isn't into "Chinese", the hamburger I have been told is pretty good. I am very disappointed in the quantity, if you are trying to get your money's worth I would recommend Panda Express or china town in Coeur d Alene. Pretty much the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Most Chinese food has small chunks of chicken that are battered, deep fried, and then glazed in a sauce. The chicken here was like a whole chicken breast was battered and deep fried, then sliced into pieces after being fried. Then drowned in so much sauce that the batter was falling off the chicken. Also the sauces were weird. The sweet and sour chicken tasted like it had BBQ sauce on it, and the almond chicken had some weird gravy on it. Also almond chicken is usually just chicken that has been stir fried, not battered and deep fried. Looks can be very deceiving. At golden dragon for dinner tonight with the love of my life. When we first walked in it has the typical look that most Chinese places have. The carpets a little worn, the booths look like they have been used for a long time still very comfortable no complaints there. They offer hot tea and tap water which is nice. The hot tea is a black tea it's pretty tasty. Had a nice egg roll appetizer as well as fried prawns. They are breaded and fried to perfection! Plus you get 8 of them scoreee! 4 stars on the prawns Now the main course chicken croukpot with a side of steamed rice. This has water chestnuts,baby corn,mushrooms,broccoli,chicken,carrots,cabbage and green beans with a nice broth. Very good like I said looks can be very deceiving. The staff is friendly the place is clean to not a bad experience. I would definitely recommend everyone to try this little hidden gem in postfalls. read more

Don't let the looks of this place deter you. The food is amazing. There were people coming in for takeout constantly while we were eating, and the restaurant itself was full. We aren't local; staying in a hotel nearby and our boys wanted Chinese for dinner. I was nervous since it only had 3.5 stars, but everything was absolutely delicious!! The wonton soup was awesome. Perhaps the worst Chinese food experience I've had. Ordered the number 9 Almond chicken with fried rice and chow mein with egg drop soup and crab rangoons. When I got home and opened the container I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I had asked them to substitute chicken for pork in the fried rice and chow mein. The chicken wasn't even mixed in to either item it was just thrown on top. And get this, it's so bad if I was reading this review I'd just assume the person writing the review was exaggerating but I promise I'm not. The chicken was cut up lunch meat. I kid you not. The almond chicken was tough and chewy almost like a bad steak. The egg drop soup was sickeningly thick to an extreme and extremely tasteless. The only item I was satisfied with was the crab rangoons. Those were surprisingly okay. With this entire experience I will not be returning, I'm disappointed , I went here after a positive recommendation from a friend and I was quite surprised as to what I found. I ordered from here for the first and last time. The food was below average. The pork fried rice had very little pork and it was over cooked and very dry. The egg drop soup was full of veggies, so it wasn't egg drop soup. I ordered 3 different meals, 2 came with said soup. When I got it home they had only one in there. I called to complain and they said they combined the 2 soups into 1. If I ordered 2 soups I want 2 soups. They said they done this for 20 yrs. The prices were very high and the servings were small. The employees were rude and very unprofessional. I would not recommend this so called restaurant. So waste your hard earned money if you want but, I can make better at home! read more

Worst customer service I've ever received. I order pickup from here at least once a week, if not more. This is the second time now I've gotten unbelievably bad service. I ordered and asked if I could get a second to go container so I can transport my egg foo yung without it leaking gravy. The same woman twice now has given me flack over asking for a second container. A second container!! First time she said don't order that anymore, now this time she wanted to argue about it and I asked if it was a problem? She says " yeah it's a big problem". I've been in a lot "nicer" restaurants where the food or service is horrendous! It's solid food, made by nice, family people! I own a restaurant on dtcda, so I always ask my food rep about restaurants in town... there's a lot of places he's advised me not to go. Golden dragon is on my "ok list". My ex husband is hella white and loved the schezuan chicken. Personally, I LOVED the mu shu pork. They use actually pancakes vs tortillas I've had at some restaurants! We eat here a couple times a year when we have a craving for Chinese food. We enjoy getting a few of their dinners to go so that we can split them amongst ourselves and try different things. Their sweet and sour chicken and pork are good. The almond chicken I only had once and didn't care for the gravy they used. The house chow mein is really good and we always make sure to get it. Anyone coming here for the first time needs to keep in mind that this is an American Style Chinese restaurant... in Idaho. The food isn't overly flashy. However, it is good, usually good portions, and can fill that food craving. The staff are always friendly and on task. They are usually managing multiple tables in the restaurant and taking in-coming take-out orders at the same time. I've never been there when they are slow. The food here is your average Northern Idaho Chinese cuisine. You can probably guess what's on the menu without looking at it, and the quality of the food is acceptable. What makes this place worthy of 4 stars is the quality and speed of service, and the price! I've eaten at Golden Dragon a number of times. I enjoy how consistent their food is. My favorite dish is the cashew chicken, it's always good and tastes exactly how I expect it to. The prices are reasonable, the portions are large, the food is good and the wait staff is prompt, more often than not... In reading through some of the negative reviews on Yelp, I couldn't help but feel that many (not all) of the Yelpers authoring these reviews are simply being pretentious. Chinese restaurants are an easy target by wannabe foodies who feel validated by leaving a scathing review and acting as if their palate is much more finely tuned than the average patron. Golden Dragon is an American Style Chinese restaurant in Post Falls, Idaho for God's sake. Don't expect it to be super authentic and awe inspiring... They're catering to the tastes of a mostly blue collar (nothing wrong with this), customer base in North Idaho. I've eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants over the years and Golden Dragon isn't the best I've had, but it's good and it's certainly better than most, especially in North Idaho. My only complaint about any of their dishes, is concerning the bbq pork fried rice. It's like a little pile of finely chopped bbq pork is just tossed on a a scoop of very briefly fried rice with no scrambled eggs or veggies in it. It's not inedible and it's okay I guess, but not something I would choose to pay for. However, I simply substitute the bbq pork fried rice out for the house chow mein. I like chow mein better anyway. All in all, Golden Dragon is good/above average as far as American Style Chinese food goes, you get fairly large servings for what you pay (I always leave with a to-go box) and the service is prompt. I was really hoping to find a more authentic asian take out place when I tried Golden Dragon. I was pretty disappointed. We ordered almost $60 worth of food, and while we got a good amount of food, the quality wasn't really what I was hoping for. My wife's Teriyaki Chicken and Rice looked and tasted more like soy sauce chicken and rice. The Sweet and sour chicken/pork, was really sweet, tasted more like pineapple teriyaki. Overall we were not impressed and are still looking for our go to chinese take out restaurant. read more

I called in an order for one of the family dinners (have to order for 2 people), and picked up. The staff was friendly, but the food..gross! First, the chicken was battered, and then smothered in a sauce which made it very goopy and soggy. The ribs had a very odd flavor. The beef was okay, and so was the soup. There wasn't much to the egg rolls. I honestly felt a little ripped off paying over $50 for crappy food. I won't be back considering there way better chinese food resturatunts for much cheaper. read more
