It's typical American style Chinese food. Didn't try Japanese but Thai dish was mediocre. Service was per Chinatown, seemed annoyed taking orders and managed to forget some items here and there (ladies working there are better) General tso was waaaaay too much source...and not enough chicken. Everytime I order something here, it really is not fresh nor exceptional. Today I ordered delivery, a spider roll and a salmon dinner box, and my order came without the tempura sauce and they just forced me to wait nearly half an hour to have it delivered, when I would have been fine with promorional credit instead...because by the time it arrived, my food was cold. I ordered a spider roll, and let me tell you, it smelled and tasted rancid. Like mold. I have never had a spider roll look or taste like the one I ordered here. The sushi here I already knew was sub par compared to authentic Japanese sushi, but the spider roll was soft and not crunchy, and looked MUSHY. Everything on it smeled and tasted old. Am I really being served second hands or something? The week before I tried the Thai ho fun and it tasted like I was eating plain bland noodles with no sauce. And I have had thai rice noodle entrees elsewhere that I have loved before. The time previous to that in which I ordered, I asked for some inari, and the price on the menu was different than the new one that they had (they upped it a dollar) and when I told her that she didn't tell me after I ordered, she just said "oh well, we can change the prices at any time." then when I asked for it to be removed from my delivery order she just said no because the driver was on the way already. And she didn't tell me the price subtotal after I ordered because she said the computer was down so she would call me back and tell me the price. How unprofessional? You don't even give me the price initially then change it afterwards? To make the matters worse, the inari was BARELY stuffed with sushi rice. It was like a teaspoon fo rice in the huge pockets. Nearly 6 dollars for 2 pieces of that? You're better off ordering japanese food from a real japanese restaurant. Have not been back in a few years since my last nightmare take out experience, all because they wouldn't do the right thing then and there. They told me they would do something for my next order. I told them there will never be a next order and I've been standing by that. Their food was always super average. Most likely due to them offering too many Asian cuisines under one roof. My take out situation was that I ordered over the phone and was told 25-30 minutes. I went in at that time and gave my info. I was told the total and paid. After I paid I was told it would be ready in a minute. Multiple minutes passed and I noticed the sushi bar just starting the sushi portion of my order. I was so upset and when I expressed it to the woman who took my money she first tried to play it off as not understanding me due to a language barrier. Also ordered chicken in black bean sauce and the taste was off, sort of like a burnt gas smell. I called the establishment to let them know and told them about the taste. If this place was in the city they'd get probably get 3 stars from me. But for Nyack? This place should be called the Golden Oasis in the dessert of no-Chinese-food or Sick-Yuck Chinese food. This is pretty much the only place I would order my pan-Asian food in Nyack despite their being a little more pricey than the other Chinese restaurants, it's worth it man, saves you the bathroom trips. Their lunch special prices are more reasonable than dinner, too. Their menu serves Chinese, Japanese and Thai, usually when people try to do this the food turns out shit, but Golden Mushroom pulls it together nicely: Chinese-- To be completely fair I've never actually had their Chinese entrees, only appetizers, but their appetizers are the best in the area, seriously. The dim sum, dumplings, scallion pancakes, shrimp dumplings are pretty close to the real thing and tastes way healthier than the alternatives in town. Mmm. Japanese-- I regularly order their sushi (pretty decent/fresh, though the portion is not as generous as I'd like) as well as Japanese bento box (mmm, chicken katsu!) which comes with soup and salad during lunch special hours. Miso soup is also real miso soup with real tofu and seaweed inside, quite the find in my opinion. Thai--Ok, I love Thai food so yeah, their Thai food is fine, not great. But if I'm really craving me some Pad Thai, or just want some curry in my life I order from here instead of going downtown and dishing out mad bread at the King & I (cus it's really not worth the dollar over there) If you are gonna order Pad Thai, even though it doesn't give you the option on the menu (it only lists chicken & shrimp pad thai) I highly recommend telling them you want "Beef Pad Thai". The way they make their Pad Thai at golden mushroom is a little more blend and more greasy than the real thing, but it goes together nicely with the beef. Also, unless you like water chestnuts I'd ask them to not put it in the curry and ask for them to substitute with another vegetable. Who likes those things? ew. (ok fine, personal preference..but no seriously, real Thai people don't put water chestnuts in curry) OMG how can I forget!!! yummy Thai ice tea!! that's Golden Mushroom's secret. They have authentic, delicious thai ice tea. They seriously top the whole meal off. Delivery-- No matter how many times you call here, the lady will still ask you to spell out your street address for some reason, but she's way nicer than the lady at Fortune. Oh, and I really like the people who deliver for this place, they're quite friendly as well. read more

Golden Mushroom is the answer to your Chinese Food problems. I have eaten here a bunch of times (mostly takeout but a couple times in the restaurant itself). This place has some of the absolute best Chinese food I have ever had. The marinated chicken wings are incredible. I've never had wings with a flavor that deep while not compromising the crispness of the breading on the outside. They are unique and delicious. Their steamed pork dumplings are maybe the best I've ever had. Sometimes when you order pork dumplings at other places, the meat seems a bit mysterious. Not here. The meat tastes clean, with a great texture and flavor that when combined with the doughy, al dente wrapper of the dumpling and a little bit of the seasoned soy sauce they are served with, becomes a top notch appetizer. I am a big fan of their mei fun, I usually order the beef but I'm sure they are all good. The beef mei fun is so so good, the noodles are somehow even thinner than other mei fun I have had, and I love it. I have also ordered the cold sesame noodles every single time I eat there. They are absolutely the best sesame noodles I have ever tasted. The peanut butter in the sauce is a compliment, not the overwhelming focus of the dish, allowing the noodles and sesame oil to really shine. Those dishes are the ones I order the most, but I have tried probably 10 other items off the menu and they have all been, at the very least, good. Some, like the Pad Thai or Thai coconut chicken, Peking duck, and others have been really delicious. All in all, if you are looking for s sit down dinner in a nice environment with a really friendly staff, or a quick take out dinner that isn't super expensive and has delicious high quality food, this is the place. Walked in for dinner and ordered something that was $8 and change. They made a huge fuss about dinner has a limit for $10. I said I'm paying cash so why is there a limit. They told me to either order something for $10 a person or get out. Pretty weird situation since I've been coming here for years. This place is surprising, in a good way. They have some of the better sushi in the Nyack area and their chinese is pretty good too! The prices are very decent and they give you little complimentary cabbage-y appetizer things along with your fried noodles, which is kind of fun. This was always my favorite Chinese place in Nyack. I loved it that they have a good selection of Japanese, Chinese and even some Thai dishes. There are some standouts which make this place better than most on the area. This includes the use of real white meat chicken in most of the chicken dishes,usually fresh vegetables and a nice selection of menu items. If you do take out double check your order. What a disappointment! I should have suspected that this probably was not going to be a good place. The menu had Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine all mixed together. Although they advertize as being authentic, the menu looked almost like any other Chinese take out menu. I had lunch here with my girlfriend this past week. We both ordered from the lunch specials which include a choice of: Egg Drop, Wonton, or Hot & Sour soup or soda, and white or brown rice or pork fried rice. I chose the wonton soup and the mixed vegetables with shrimp and brown rice. The soup tasted bland with little flavor and the wontons, although looking homemade, tasted very strange. Although the mixed vegetables in my entree tasted fresh, the shrimp tasted as if they'd been frozen a long time and lost any kind of flavor. There was way too much brown sauce in the dish, masking any flavors of the vegetables and shrimp. My friend also ordered the wonton soup, agreeing with me as to the lack of flavoring and the funkiness of the wontons. She ordered the Lo Mein with vegetables, saying that there wasn't much flavor in her dish either. Even the tea we were automatically given when we sat down, was without much flavor, like they reused the tea bags one too many times. The atmosphere is quite dated, except for the healthy looking plants, and the large fish tank full of exotic fish. Unfortunately, anyone who actually thinks this place is good probably has never tasted authentic Chinese food. What a shame. read more

I had the worst experience at this restaurant last night. The service was horrible! The waiter had absolutely no consideration for his customers. I have food allergies; I explained to the waiter what they were and he said no problem. 3 out of the 4 entrees came out so I figured mine was taking time because of my allergies, I waited and waited, he completely ignored us, we shouted out to him a few times and he got aggravated with us, an entrée finally came out, it was FISH, I am highly allergic to FISH and I had ordered chicken! After continuous calls out to the waiter and he ignoring us, we finally got up asked someone else for our bill, paid and walked out. The staff could care less what went on with us. Golden Mushroom is our go-to for Chinese food delivery. That said, I cannot endorse Golden Mushroom as great Chinese food...They're just better than others in the area. Delivery will either be there in less than 10 minutes or more like 45-60 minutes. Food can be hit or miss, as well... Lo Mein is no good. Mei Fun is very good. Spare ribs are either great or awful. Steamed dumplings are gummy...not recommended. Chicken and broccoli is very good. I'm convinced there's got to be MSG in this food, though, because even if it's not good, we can't stop eating it. read more

Want to support local businesses, but couldn't get a straight answer on an allergy question so had to do a hard pass. We have eaten here a few times in the past for parties that we attended, and the food was decent but nothing to rave about. However, they have had gluten-free boneless ribs which is about the only thing my wife can eat, and so we attempted to place an order. The gentleman who took the call had no idea whether the ribs were gluten-free or not, and since there was a chance that they could come either gluten-free or not we could not take a chance. I asked if he could go ask someone several times, and then he abruptly said best if we didn't order. What a shame to drive business away rather than handle a simple allergy question especially when their menu specifically mentions advising them if you have any food allergies. read more

If your a Sushi/Sashimi fan it gets no better. Besides my Lower Hudson Valley Realtor job I work on fishing boats in Montauk Point N.Y., so I am very aware of the fish freshness. First time here and even though the food was decent halfway through my chicken with spinach and garlic I found the top of the spinach package in my good which read "spinach" on the plastic I was chewing on. I called over the waiter to tell him and he took it from me looked at it said sorry and that was it..at the end of our meal he gave us an ice cream for free but still charged us for the food with plastic pieces in it! I would never go back here again. As we were eating the waiter was leaning over my food and in front of me to pick up dishes and pour water to the point I had to say excuse me. I have been a regular at Golden Mushroom for years, so I was taken aback when a takeout order was incorrect and the problem was not addressed. I ordered 2 sushi rolls, among other items, and instead received the sushi lunch special. The hostess refused to change my order and proceeded to get very rude. The dollar amount was insignificant, it was the principle. I thought it was very disrespectful to be treated like that from a business that I have patronized for years. This establishment comes highly recommended. We've had the Chinese cuisine but this was my first time trying their sushi. It tasted great but I take away stars for a couple reasons: a) I got very sick -- It took me out of commission for a whole day causing me to miss work. While I understand that can happen anywhere, I can't just leave it at that. I wouldn't post a negative review just because of getting sick, but when I called to complain, the manager was way too shrewd and flip. I respect how hard it is to run a business but I find the type of service I received to be a little unprofessional. How does this restaurant get such a low rating. Its ridiculous. I grew up in NYC and have been a fan of asian food forever. I have eaten at the best asian authentic restaurants in Flushing, Chinatown. As well i have eaten at a million neighborhood chinese places. Golden Mushroom ranks at the top. The food is extremely consistent. I have never been sick or digestively uncomfortable in all the 50 times i have eaten there or takwn food out. They are always pleasant and accurate when taking takeout orders. They always comply with all my starnge requests such as Yung Chow Fried Rice with extra egg no shrimp. Their scallion pancake rivals the best take out ones i have ever had. Ask for peanut sauce to dip. Please be advised i do not eat the sushi. Last night i had a california roll and it was a california roll and that's as far as i will venture. Long story short I love Golden Mushroom and so does my son. Went there on Christmas Day for dinner. The place was packed, but that's no excuse for cold, tasteless food that took forever to get there. When we called over the manager to complain, her reply was, " So sorry". That's it! We couldn't believe it! We had to ask her to take it back to heat it up and when it finally arrived, it was tasteless. The four of us ended up leaving most of it. Now I know it was Christmas and they were busy but, that doesn't pardon bad customer service and poor food. The four of us won't be back and suggest you steer clear also. read more
