There were only 2 couples eating there. One man said the chicken was old and tasted funny and asked for another meal. That should have been a sign for us to leave. Went to Golden Temple in Syosset NY today for take out With an order of pork dumplings and a soup with egg whites. They didn't have fried tofu but added a bit of regular tofu in the soup for me. The decorations were nice including a wooden boat by the suchi table. ( see pix) there are eat in tables and chairs. As for the dumplings they were mildly toasted on one side instead of fully pan fried. The soup had mild taste. read more

Crispy Orange Beef was mushy, and appeared to have been seasoned with some orange peels and spare rib sauce (with that reddish tint). Spring Rolls were oily. We went here because I wanted sushi and other ppl wanted hot Chinese food. This place has both. Service felt rushed, they kept asking for us to order when we were just looking at the menu. Also my sushi initially was bought out with cream cheese which was not what I asked for. They had to redo it. The sushi fish was not as fresh as a full Japanese place. The bamboo shoots with pork was not tender. The veggie bean sprouts were tough too. I really liked the braised eel in brown sauce. The other Chinese dishes were clam soup which was good and simple, the meatballs. Overall the bill was not the cheapest with tip came to about $200 for 3 people. This was perhaps the worst Chinese meal I ever had. Dumpling dough was thick and tough...inside meat not flavored. Lo mein looked like it had been sitting out for days... clumpy dull-colored noodles. 000 ZERO STARS 000 This is the worst food I have eaten in many years if not my whole life... are used their website to order delivery. I got crispy sesame, chicken and eggrolls. Every piece of chicken is primarily chicken skin. They are all incredibly chewy. Even if the batter had been crispy the inside is chicken, skin and chicken fat so it would've been horrible and I order Chinese chicken regularly, I understand the difference between white meat and dark meat, and I enjoy dark meat. This was not dark meat, it was chicken skin. Even if it were crispy, the sauce taste nothing like any sesame sauce I've ever had, and not in a good way, yet it was entirely subpar bordering on grotesque. The white rice, which is always one of my favorite things (lame I know, but I love the traditional, sticky white rice that every Chinese restaurant serves) was so bad. It was not at all sticky and seemed like it was very cheap rice prepared very poorly. I put my fork in and the grains toppled everywhere!! It is super lame. The eggrolls are full of grease and taste of nothing but peanut oil that has been used for too long and begun to break down. The only things they seem to have been able to deliver on were the prepackaged duck sauce and soy sauce. I wrote that as a joke, and then I remembered that even the silverware was sub-par. It was so cheap & flimsy. Definitely the mark of a restaurant pinching every penny. Started with chicken dumplings, which were OK, and spare ribs, which my husband enjoyed. The egg drop soup was ok. I felt it could have had a little more flavor. The hot and sour soup was good. Years ago I used to dine at China View Restaurant in Plainview, for me the Best Chinese food by far. Unfortunately the owners retired a while ago and the business is no longer. Ever since then I have always compared other Chinese Restaurants I visited to them and never found an equal, until now. Golden Temple in Syosset is as great if not better than China View. The menu is extensive for both Chinese and Japanese. The food is outrageously delicious and the prices are very modest. The atmosphere is quiet and charming with a large bar for those who choose to sit there. The Sushi Chef is busy creating his masterpieces. The food is light and not salty like most other Chinese Restaurants. My wife and I go there frequently or just call for takeout when we're in the mood. The Dining Room can accommodate small to large parties. But the best is their food which is the main reason for dining out and at reasonable prices. A refereshing change from the former and very popular Kikkus. The interior is far more relaxed, and the food is a bit more traditional. I prefer this vibe. The sushi was fresh, the service was friendly, the wontons were light, the soup wasn't too salty, the shrimp and lobster sauce was really flavorful and shrimps were big and cooked perfectly. I came in here most recently with my folks, armed with a restaurant.com gift card. Four stars for the dinner box value, 3 stars for everything else on the menu, and 1 star for our awful waitress who seemed to have been born without a voice and/or personality. Upon being seated, be prepared for an overwhelmingly long menu that'll give you good memories of your neighborhood Chinese take-out joint. Add in the Japanese section and you've got quite a lot of reading! At the first opportunity of communication, our waitress failed miserably, unable to answer grade-school caliber questions such as "is this spicy?" or "What type of sauce is this?" When I say FAIL, I don't mean she didn't know the answer, I mean she LITERALLY SAID NOTHING. Needless to say, this was a painfully awkward experience that shouldn't have been. I started with a specialty sushi roll and ordered the Mango Thai w/ beef. Mom and dad ordered the chicken w/ eggplant and Lamb w/ scallions, respectively. A selection of the dinner items are available on the "Dinner Box specials" menu, which includes either two dumplings or a spring roll, a soup, and a dessert for only an extra $3 over the a-la-carte entree. As mentioned before, that sweetens the deal for the already fair menu prices here at Golden Temple. For dessert, my father asked our waitress for the green tea ice cream, only to find out from another server (remember, our waitress doesn't talk) that only chocolate and vanilla are included. OK not a huge deal, but is green tea ice cream really that much more expensive or something that you can't just include that too?! Oh, and when we showed our waitress the restaurant.com coupon?! Fuggedaboutit! She looked like she was going to have a straight up heart attack right next to our table. She scurried off into the back kitchen with our coupon and was thankfully able to apply the $25 discount. Had it not been for our mute waitress, I'd say the experience was good overall. Will not be going there again nor would recommend this place to anyone. Not worth getting food poisoning and unsure if restaurant is following rules. This place is always good. Never had the Japanese menu, but we always order from the authentic Chinese menu. Just like any great chinese restaurant, they are very accommodating with off menu items. Very friend staff. Today I bought over my own live king crab and had them cook it for us , the price they charged me was very decent and the 2 dishes from the crab they made for us was very delicious. We have been going there for many years because of the convenience of the location as a good place to meet our 3 families. Sunday was the last time that we will go. The last 4 times have been somewhere between disappointing and awful. The problems were: Tasteless soup Fried rice that was so uncooked that the onions were literally raw. It still looks good inside (minus the bathroom, which makes you feel like you're in an airplane) and the staff is A-OK, so even average Chinese junk food would be fine for me... but it's not even up to that level. I was at DSW next door and decided to stop in to look over the lunch menu for some takeout. They have a sushi lunch takeout as well as Chinese. The lunch menu is very limited. Comes with entree, rice and soup. Too pricey IMO for Chinese lunch specials I spent around $10.50 for mine and a place by me is around $6 and comes with a drink. I placed my order the lady who took it offered me a seat while I waited. I probably waited 5 mins which was very fast. Got shrimp in lobster sauce with brown rice. I live close to 20 mins away from this place and by the time I brought it home the food was still really really hot. The shrimp were large and the sauce was ok a little on the salty side and had too much egg in it. The peas in it were huge ! Probably 3x the size of a normal pea haha. The portion was just right for me I was full after and only had two spoonfuls of egg drop soup (which was super thick, eh) I did like the container the lunch special was in because it kept the rice separate from my main meal. General Tso's chicken, Beef and broccoli, the usual brown sauce concoctions. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it served some of the most authentic tasting Chinese food on Long Island, with flavors reminiscent of restaurants you'd find in Chinatown or Flushing. As a guy of Chinese background and raised eating truly authentic Chinese food, I can attest to the fact that this restaurant is a gem on the island. Clues were given as soon as I picked up the menu and saw amusingly poor translations (e.g., intestines instead of sausage) and actual Chinese writing for each dish. The general ambiance of this restaraunt provides a serene setting, to enjoy a wide variety of fresh sushi and very tasty chinese food. I recommend starting with the sticky rice as an appetizer. With the assistance of the waiter, the selection was enjoyed and shared by everyone at the table. The 3-Nut Chicken, Pan Fried Noodles with Beef, Colossal Shrimp and Godzilla Roll was a great mix. Every dish had its own signature and taste. The food was brought to the table with a description and well-plated. The server recognized I wanted more spice and made a future recommendation of adding jalapeno to any of the rolls. He also brought plenty of hot chili oil for the table.
