I only live around the corner from this Camden library branch, which is Holly Lodge. And even up to this day, I will always use the services at Highgate Library, for hiring out DVDs, PC printing and the photo copy machine. And I even reserve books and DVD from Highgate Library. Highgate Library is literally right next door to Highgate Cemetery, the place of Karl Marx's tomb.

We did not sign up for cards, and therefor did not get to explore the rooms or stacks, but we did enjoy our walk around. During college (as a history major), it was frequently joked that you haven't really researched in a library if you haven't wound up making out in the stacks... well, after a day of research, I enjoyed some fun pictures and 'making out' with my husband, making this a thoroughly educational stop in our London adventure.

The cafe inside provides some yummi food and has many options. Its connected to the swimming pool and quite close to the tube line, schools and shops. However the library is usually full of young teenagers who, hardly understand the concept of a library. They speak very loudly and nobody tells them otherwise since there is hardly any official librarian strolling along to keep peace. I cant fathom why is a library noisy, yet this one is very often too much to work in. Not only the young teenagers but even the kids can yell their hearts out and you'd still hear it in your seat, since there is no walls separating the kids area from the adults section, just a bookcase.

I am not a…read moremember of this library but they have a good selection of books, movies, and CDs that I was impressed by...it made me want to join the library membership program. There were very large tables on the second floor that had plenty of space to spread out your stuff. The room was fairly quiet and there was a variety of open seats and tables. The room got a good deal of light and the courtyard outside is very beautiful. I would definitely recommend checking out this place.

It is not a library per se, it is more a space where you can think, read, relax, explore and of course be quiet. It is excellent to find such a spot located close to Carnaby Street. That's one of the reasons why London is such a great city!!! Students at London College of Fashion created this project.

I've never exchanged a book, as I now carry a kindle but I love that I have the chance to read into other books and see if I like it.

Have to catch a bus down from Highbury & Islington tube station - otherwise it's quite a long walk along a busy & uninteresting road. Big fiction section - although I've never had much luck finding really recent / newly released books here. Decent non fiction section as well. Big dvd collection.

Not sure what to say about this, they have what looks like a good selection of books but I didn't…read moreget much time to look at them. As soon as I walked in and started browsing I had several people watching me. A couple of minutes later a lady came over to me and asked me what I was doing, I explained that I was a member of the local libraries and was just looking to see if they had anything interesting to take out. Now I understand that the council did abandon some libraries and they are now run by local communities but I didn't know this was one of them. She quite abruptly informed me that I couldn't use the service as it was a community one and all but ushered me out to the door. No mention of whether I could join and I live about 3 minutes way... Don't know what the issue was with her or the other staff members, maybe I shouldn't have come from the gym? I guess being dressed in tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie top may have given them the wrong impression about why I was there? I'll come back again, maybe dressed a little differently and see if I can join, but the welcome could be a little better.

Fantastic little community library located opposite Antrim Gardens (great playground for toddlers)…read more The Children's section of this library takes up perhaps a quarter of the inside space, with a reasonable selection of books, and a nice play area. Very welcoming, especially now that the shorter days are upon us. Support your local library! :)
