Rockfish ceviche... all cucumber underneath, very little fish. Small item. Tasted good but insufficient for a meal.
    Gin K.

Lunch, first visit. What was good: Service (friendly, relaxed), decor (beautiful wood, dark walls, gold accents, nice booth), location (downtown central). Food tasted nice. What was lacking: I ordered the ro kfish cevuche (thankfully gluten-free) and it was lovely but 90% full of cucumber, only a few bites of rockfish. Bummed. Not sure if I just got a pair ratio scoop or if that's normal but for 21 dollars I expected more than cucumber. My friends' meals looked more substantial and were good.

I could eat lunch here everyday! 6 of us had lunch there and we all enjoyed what we had. I had a great chicken Caesar salad and unlike many places they didn't hold back on the dressing. The lunch Zucchini, burger, fried calamari, and grilled salmon all were liked!

Highly recommend for date night. It's a sexy, gorgeous space. Buzzing but not too loud to hear. Our server was enthusiastic and attentive, the food was top-notch, and the cocktails were delicious. My only request would be a longer and more diverse wine list. Get the focaccia!!!

MAY2025 We had come out for dinner. Reservations were easy and quick for the same night. Service was on point. Answered any questions that we had, good on water refills, and checked in consistently. We were sat in a booth which was nice as the sun was dipping down for the day. We had gotten a number of things to share and I grabbed practically every vegetable dish available minus the large plates to try things out. We had the focaccia pulled apart, cracked cucumbers and pickles, roasted carrots, crispy calamari, and fire roasted beets to share. I'd say my favorite was the beets. The yogurt sauce and the nuts really balanced things out and made for nice bites and texture changes. The carrots were rich and cooked well; nicely sauteed with the sauce. The rest of the dishes were cooked well and easy to share for a cocktail night out. I'd say I'd want something for the calamari to drip into though but that's just my preference. We had also ended the night with the cheesecake and the carrot cake. The cheesecake had a nice berry compote to top, and wasn't too sweet bite to bite. The carrot cake was quite dry unfortunately. All in all the flavors worked well, but a bit pricey overall for the amount. The service was spot on given how busy it was.

We had a lovely birthday celebration dinner at Goldfinch. Our server, Jessica, was attentive and professional, providing excellent recommendations. My husband and I ordered the mixed greens salad, and it was ample to share. The calamari appetizer with smoked chili remoulade and shaved Parmesan was some of the best calamari we have ever tasted. We both ordered the hanger steak for our main entree, and it was extremely tender and cooked perfectly. We had the apple crisp for dessert to complete our meal. The food, atmosphere, and service were excellent; we highly recommend them. Our only request to the restaurant is to add more entrees to their menu; the menu feels limited. It would be great to see dinner specials and more entrees.

Such a cute spot with a warm, welcoming vibe! The staff was super friendly and accommodating, even when we showed up a bit early for our reservation. We were a group of six and definitely over-ordered, but no regrets. The cocktails (not pictured) were delicious and well-balanced. The seafood tower (not pictured), grilled angus steak (not pictured), and fried chicken roulade were just okay, not the most memorable. Our table favorites were the fire-roasted beets, calamari, and the crab raviolo, all super flavorful and beautifully done. Overall, a great night with great food and great company!

    Beet salad, so good!

We went Friday for dinner for my girls weekend. It was easy to book a table and we parked at a nearby lot. Everything was so delicious my favorite was the beet salad with caramelized yogurt and toasted pistachios. My girl friends love ceviche with lemongrass and the light batter on the calamari. There was 5 ladies and we ordered 5 medium plates and 2 large plates to share which was the perfect amount of food for us to try many things. I ordered the Afternoon Delight Cocktail which nice. I enjoyed the variety of foods and how everything was so fresh tasting. I do wish we had more space as we were in a booth for 4 with a chair added so we had to clear plates so there would be room for our next courses but that was easy since everything was so yummy. Service was great.

    Marin Miyagi Oysters
    Kelly S.

I searched Yelp for oysters and came across Goldfinch. We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find it quiet, allowing us to choose our own seating. We picked a roomy end booth--though a heads-up: the booths aren't anchored, so every time I got up, it slid and needed to be readjusted from the outside. Our server was friendly and helpful when we were choosing drinks. When I asked about the two rosé options, she had to refer back to the menu but ended up recommending the Ameztoi Rubentis Rosé. She offered a small sample, and I really enjoyed it so went with a glass. The drink menu was impressive, featuring a solid selection of local and French wines, a few specialty cocktails, a full bar, and a nice beer list. We ordered a few small bites to share, starting with a dozen Marin Miyagi oysters--perfectly sized and served with lemon and a light mignonette. I appreciated that they were super fresh and sourced locally from Tomales Bay. We also tried the Local Halibut Ceviche, which was beautifully presented with edible flowers that added a surprising but lovely flavor. Lastly, we had the Grilled Shrimp Skewer--four well-seasoned shrimp served over a small bed of dressed lettuce and roasted lemon. It felt like a bonus that the salad element was just as good as the shrimp. The interior décor is tastefully done--elegant yet inviting and fun. However, the one downside of our visit was the number of flies buzzing around inside. It was a hot day, so maybe that contributed, but it was distracting to see at least half a dozen flying around at any given moment. Hopefully, it was just a one time thing. Overall, I loved the food and the overall experience. I'd recommend checking it out if you're in the area--especially for the oysters and ceviche. The dishes are on the smaller and pricier side, but they're fresh and flavorful. While I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return on a future visit, I'm definitely glad we tried it once.

Good as Gold From the same restaurant group, Stark Reality, that has brought Sonoma County such gems as Grossman's Noshery, Augie's French, Stark's, and both Willi's Seafood & Willi's Wine Bar, just to name a few. They took over the old K&L Bistro back in 2023 and have been turning heads ever since with their modern farm-to-table California cuisine. Goldfinch's seasonal menu embraces locally sourced foods from Sonoma County producers, as well as an impressive bar program that features locally made wines and brews from the region. The Good: *Free street Parking as well as a free City parking lot available *Reservations via OpenTable (highly recommended) *Happy Hour Wed - Sun (3 - 5 p.m.) *Modern eland décor was spot on *Our server was great and had a very unique personality *Beer on-tap, wine, and a full bar *Strong curated menu that changes with the seasons. *Dungeness Crab Raviolo was gigantic, chock full of Crab, and absolutely delicious. If you like Crab, then you'll love this. Just get it. *Fire-roasted beet salad was also terrific, and has a great sweet and tangy thing going. *Heritage Pork Chop was cooked perfectly and so good. The concomitant spätzle-veggie mix and jus were great accompaniments. *Grilled Shrimp skewer was also delicious and had a nice kick to it. The Meh: *Prices ain't cheap but they ain't Michelin level pricing, either. *While the lemon cheesecake was a great cheesecake, I personally, could've used more lemon flavor in it. If it wasn't for the candied lemon peels, then you'd hardly know it was lemon flavored. Oh, and more of those candied peels would be fantastic, please and thank you. The Ugly: *Because of the exposed brick walls, it can get loud in here. Conclusion: Fantastic food in an amazing place with top level service. Highly recommended.

    Dungeness crab ravioli

Upon arrival, you're welcome by friendly staff and a cozy, and modern setting. This was my first time trying out the goldfinch, which was quite pleasant, especially after finding out they've been here for two years. I'm extremely glad I was able to make it and try out their delicious tapas style menu. Everything was very well thought out and beautifully presented. I would definitely recommend goldfinch to friends and family. We Started off with drinks, I got the Bernie's borough, and my fiancé got the lucky profit. We both enjoyed our drinks. The fries were delicious, light airy, and crunchy. The calamari was lightly coated with the breading, but still very crispy and crunchy. The ahi tuna was so fresh and tasty, adding the avocado spread was a perfect touch. The star of the night was definitely the Cinnabon cinnamon roll sized, Dungeness crab ravioli. The presentation and sauce was outstanding.

Adding photos from another recent visit - our server was great, checked in often to make sure we were doing good. Food was incredible, we tried so much this time, not featured in the photos are the carrots and calamari which was eaten to quickly to snap!

Fabulous happy hour (3-5pm) with very good food sprinkled in edible flower petals. Plenty good vegetarian options for normal dinner as well but they really ace their veggie dishes... best to come with a few people & get many dishes.

Fantastic dinner! Best food I have had in ages. Everything was delicious, beautifully plated, amply portioned, and appropriately priced in an excellent warm atmosphere, with friendly unrushed but efficiently timed service. Don't skip dessert or a libation from their drink menu. Ricotta ravioli (rich with fresh peas and chili flakes), roasted potatoes (cooked to perfection with sweet pickles!) rockfish ceviche (fresh with a nice kick), and apple crumble (absolutely heavenly) were plenty for two hungry gals to split. Such a fortuitous find, worth the drive from San Jose. Fine, fine, fine dining! Will be back!!!

I made a reservation for 6pm on the deck as it had seatbacks and my husband has a bad back and can't sit on a picnic table. It's an elevated section above the beer garden, which that night had a singer with guitar. Service was pleasant though a little slow with drinks but they were pretty busy. We both had margaritas to start, which were $16 plus $3 for call brand so $19 each. Pretty good but not too strong. I then had the Hopmunk hefewisen beer which was only $8, much more reasonable. I had the Biergarten cheeseburger on a pretzel bun, cooked perfectly medium rare. Served with caramelized onions, bacon, smoked Gouda and a beer cheese, it was tasty but pretty messy! Cost was $23 plus I subbed a kale Caesar for $2 which was good but not worth the hype as a little dry. Husband had the grilled mole chicken with mole sauce and Spanish rice for $24. It was a large portion with two pieces of chicken and he enjoyed it. We then saw a show in the stone tavern next to the beer garden. It's an intimate venue with not a bad view in the house. We had seats because my husband is disabled so we're right in the front row. Otherwise it was standing only. Great acoustics and venue. I would go there often if I lived in Sebastopol, as it's right near the Barlow and downtown. Definitely recommend for food, entertainment and atmosphere.

We ordered the buffalo wings as well as the steak and frites and their chicken Philly sandwich. The steak plate was pretty good and the wings were also relatively good. The steak does have chimichurri on it and the salad is really good as well or the coleslaw. I can't remember what it came with. The wings taste pretty fresh and they do give you blue cheese and ranch with them, as well as vegetables like carrots and celery. However you are paying $17 for eight wings just a heads up. My friend personally did not enjoy the chicken plate. She felt like the chicken did not taste fresh but quite frankly, we were unable to get our waiters attention throughout our whole time seated there so at the end, we decided to just leave it without saying anything. The service is the reason for the lower rating. I think the food was pretty decent, but the service was not up to par. Service here was mediocre. I will add that I do not say that lightly and I normally do not like saying that about restaurants. I normally understand when service is off if the restaurant is full however this restaurant was pretty empty. At first our server came around twice and then we ordered and once after she brought out the waters. My friend had to ask her twice to bring a lemon for her water because it seems that the server forgot, although from what I could tell, she was really only serving our table and maybe two others. When the food came out I asked if she could refill my water. She said she would be back with more water. However, she literally did not come back until 30 minutes later and that was after my friend had to flag her down and ask her if she could bring us more water. I should also say that this was after we had finished the entire meal, which at that point water was really not necessary. What really pushed the experience over the limit was the server mentioning to us when we were paying that she got off the clock early because it was so slow. Meanwhile I sat there wondering if this was the reason that her service was so awful. While sitting there eating, I did notice that in general service was a problem for this restaurant... I noticed another customer walked in and sat for a while and wasn't spoke to. When he asked them if they were still serving food, he was responded to rudely. I also noticed another customer asked in regard to the menu and another server told him that the menu was over there on the other side without giving any direction. Aesthetically speaking, the spot is really cute. There's a lot of lights. They have a lot of plants however, based on the service, I don't think I would come back here. My friend who has been coming here for many years was actually shocked at how bad the service was today and said that this was pretty abnormal. Who knows maybe it was an off day. Either way after being unattended for more than 30 minutes and ignored it didn't really leave any reason to come back here again.

Worth noting though: it gets very noisy. The menu offers an interesting mix of Thai and French cuisine - not quite fusion, but rather two distinct menus side by side. Think of it as a safe bet for groups with different cravings. The portions are decent and the prices are in line with typical Bay Area standards - not a bargain, but not outrageous either. Unfortunately, what brought my rating down to three stars was the service. For a relatively simple meal - oysters to start and one entrée each - the pacing was surprisingly slow. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared, another 10 for the dessert menu, and after an additional 15-minute wait we ended up canceling dessert altogether, as the evening had stretched to two hours and we had a long drive ahead. To be fair, the tables around us seemed to have a smoother experience, so perhaps we caught them on an off night. I'd like to give them another shot, but I'm leaving with mixed feelings that honestly reflect a three-star experience - great bones, but the service needs work.

I started with the Thai iced tea with coconut cream and cardamom. I loved that it wasn't overly sweet or super milky like some Thai teas can be. The cardamom came through nicely, and the coconut flavor worked really well with it. We started with the vegetable dumplings, which were not what I expected but in the best way. They were almost like a deconstructed dumpling with noodle sheets and spring onions that you wrapped in lettuce leaves. The chili oil was really rich and added a lot of flavor to each bite. We also shared the pad Thai. It also came deconstructed with fish sauce, vinegar, sugar, and other seasonings on the side so you could mix everything to your liking. It was a fun presentation but I wasn't quite sure how much of each ingredient to add. Overall, I enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere.

We ordered 3/4 of the menu items and were super impressed with every item from presentation to layered flavors. Sometimes Thai restaurants are a bit boring and westernized but the flavor here were bold and nicely nuanced. For those sensitive to spice, they also offer to make some dishes half spice. The most impressive dish was the rock fish - it is a full size fish with herb and lime garnishes; the fish was fresh and delicious. My favorite dish was actually the tofu salad - the tofu is actually silken soft on the inside as promised - and surrounded by lots of fresh herbs and citrus. The drunken noodles also stood out as non-typical with excellent wok heat to give it a deep umami flavor. Service was casual and non-intrusive but also very friendly and attentive. I appreciated the proactive extra napkins for our dish and was impressed by how they handled a huge pain in the butt customer sitting next to us who literally complained about every single dish. They patiently took her complaints and offered her alternatives while I admittedly wondered why the customer even bothered to eat a Thai restaurant at all, I felt bad for the staff but they handled it so professionally. There is plenty of dedicated parking in their shared lot. This is definitely a favorite restaurant I will return to next time I'm in town.

There were four of us looking forward to a nice meal, and O & C China Bistro did not disappoint. First of all the restaurant is run by one of the nicest families you have ever met. Our waitress was Claire, the daughter of the owner, and she was a sweetheart! Took our order, shared what she knew and what she had to research. Loved that she was able to put the order in via a computer as we talked and we actually got some of our food BEFORE she was finished taking our order!!! There were four of us in our party and we ordered Hot and Sour soup (one order was plenty for us), egg rolls, pot stickers, Vegi Chow main, Walnut Shrimp, Sesame Chicken, Mu Shu pork and Sebastopol Eggplant with Tofu. Everything was PERFECT, served hot, with so much food that we had an entire two meals left over to take home. Flavors were spot on, nothing was greasy, everything was fresh and the presentation was spot on. Loved the way this restaurant is put together, it is small and cozy, a nice place to go as a group or to take a date. The service was AMAZING, food kept coming out, one after another dish, our drinks were refilled and we were continually look after to make sure everything was good. Loved that they took our extra food to the back and put the food in containers for us. We can't wait to go back!!!!

Every time I have it, I feel revived. Beyond the wonton soup, I have tried several dishes and everything has been consistently delicious. Their Sebastopol eggplant tofu dish is excellent, the chicken with green beans is flavorful, and the beef and broccoli is always satisfying. I have also had their hot and sour soup, chicken wings, and dumplings, and I can honestly say the quality across the board is outstanding. You can really tell the vegetables are fresh and the food is made with care. We even rented out their main space for our son's baptism, and it was a complete success. Our experience was smooth, and it meant so much to us to celebrate such a special moment there. I am genuinely happy we are local to them. Their service is consistently great and definitely recommend trying this place if you have not already.
