Don't waste your time here. The bartender was so rude and so completely unprofessional that he made my friend cry tonight. She waited at the bar for a drink while everyone around was served ahead of her, when she waved at the bartender he approached her aggressively and cussed at her, asking "What the fuck do you want?". He was incredibly rude to all of our friends tonight, but cussing at any customer, especially a woman is so completely unacceptable. When we asked the bar back for his name, he asked what my friend had done wrong. This place is a garbage dump and has no idea how to treat their customers. Take your money elsewhere. read more

Recently, I was barred from entering Goldie's because of my military ID. It's disappointing to feel that those associated with the military might be discriminated against by bouncers employed by Goldie's, but that's the only logical assumption i can make after my experience. As a result, I recommend that those associated with the military avoid this establishment. The bouncer, talking outside with two women, seemed upset that I would interrupt his conversation by approaching the door. I had my military ID ready to hand to him to make it easy, but he saw that I had my New York driver's license underneath my military ID one and told me to put away my military ID and to hand him my driver's license. Genuinely confused, I asked if my military ID was not accepted. I hesitate to take out my driver's license as New York licenses can be fragile. I already have a crack in it from another poor bouncer experience. The bouncer told me that because I wasn't doing what he asked and being a smartass, I didn't get to come inside. Still confused, I just stated that my military ID is an official form of identification in the US, and went to swap it for my driver's license. I don't really like to find trouble on my nights out when I'm trying to relax. Even when handing my driver's license, though, he snatched it, took a glance, and gave it back with a smirk and said "see? Now you played my by rules and you get to go inside." By that time, I had such an awful experience, I decided to go down the street to Diamond Lil. He seemed happy to continue his chat with the two women outside. I have gone here once before with a relatively positive experience. I felt that the bartenders were attentive and courteous. The prices were competitive, as well. I really hope my incident was exclusive to the bouncer and not representative of the ownership. As I mentioned, I hate feeling that I'll have a hard time here because of military association, but I'd rather not take the chance and have a horrible experience trying to get past a bouncer for a relatively lowkey bar in Greenpoint. Diamond Lil is a great alternative just a block away. read more

Listen, in my years of living and drinking in Brooklyn, I have never experienced such aggressive and downright mean behavior from bar staff. Bartender was blatantly skipping over women waiting for drinks. My boyfriend called him out and asked him to serve the woman next to him, who was skipped over 3 times. Bartender became extremely agitated and hostile towards us. He kicked us both out of the bar, before we even had a chance to drink the drinks we literally had just ordered and PAID for. I'm so sad to see that this place isn't rated higher. I understand that the kitschy 70's theme isn't for everyone, but that doesn't make this place bad. I actually like the kitsch -- plus the bartenders are great, you get fast service, and it's very affordable! This place is one of my go-tos. read more

So happy to have found this gem of a bar in Greenpoint. My friends and I stopped by on a sunny Sunday afternoon and I knew I would love this bar as soon as I walked in. The decor is glamorous, quirky and fun, but in a very unpretentious way. We spent a few hours in the BEAUTIFUL courtyard drinking frozen margaritas. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and the drinks were delicious. Most of us had the frozen margartias which was the perfect way to enjoy summer-like temps in an idyllic patio space. As a father of five, I have to say that I love Goldie's! The stylish retro decor reminds me of a time when I could go to bars all of the time and not have to let my wife know or check to see how many of my children are at soccer practice or just hiding in the basement. The kitschy paintings on black velvet of people and animals remind me of a time when I was in undergrad and wanted to be an artist! Just think of it! I could've ended up redefining the male body in performance art instead of defending habitual corporate polluters in civil court. Goldie's has their own super affordable beer on tap! I wanted to brew my own beer but my wife nixed that idea. "You should've started brewing your own beer instead of buying that stupid trampoline and we wouldn't have spent all our savings on the neighborhood kids' medical bills!" It's funny how things turn out. Goldie's also has a nice pool table. read more

This place is awesome! I love everything about it from the classic decor to the drinks. The bar itself is in a 'U' shape and the drink signs are reminiscent of old Hollywood. The prices are also not bad especially for a beer and shot deal. If you're in this part of Greenpoint and need a fun place to stop. Definitely come here. read more

The bartender took forever to get to me because she was flirting with some dudes and then wouldn't accept my ID because it's a residency permit for the UK. She claims she needs another ID because I'm a US resident but it has my birthday and picture on the card. I'm not sure who told her she can only accept US Residencies for citizens but I highly doubt if I was a guy that wouldn't have been a problem. Love this bar! Owner is rad, ambience is cool, and the prices are cheap. I left my ID and debit card one night, went back to get it 2 nights later and the bartender looked for maybe 3 seconds then said they didn't have it. So after the traditional BS like wasting 4 hours at the dmv and on calls with my bank, I decide to call the bar weeks later just to triple check and they have it! Unfortunate bc the bar itself has an awesome ambience and is a really chill spot but the two times I've been here I have encountered 2 different bar tenders who not only both had horrible attitudes, but their drinks tasted horribly as well. I want to speak to the owner or manager bc the bar has so much potential but they need to hire new staff. I am not the only one who feels this way either- many of my friends have said the same thing. Please! Hire new bartenders who are more friendly and better at making drinks and this place would be amazing! too expensive. don't open a bar tab. i did and it was about $500 more than i was expecting. So many drinks charges that weren't ours. Unless the whole bar found out about my tab and the bar tender just gave everyone a free for all. There were 8 of us out that night. 8! and most left by 10pm. the tab came to $850. my boss went nuts when he saw my expenses. read more

Hands down my favorite bar in Greenpoint!! Awesome 1970's decor, the drinks are on point, and the bartenders couldn't be nicer. They play the best music ever (I shit you not) and the bathrooms are some of the nicest I have EVER seen. I'm so glad that this bar is so close to my house, and I will be back for sure and definitely want to come here on my birthday next month. read more
