Most people know when you weigh using the pennyweight method you will get a lower price. The man there gave me a quote for $250.00. I knew this gold was worth more than that and I said no. Then he asked me how much do you want for it? I said I didn't know because I wasn't sure of it's true value and so I left. While I was in Cash for Gold I had I felt things were shady there, not that there were any wrong doing going on, just my opinion. I never felt comfortable. On 17-June-2023 I went to the Gold and Diamond Source just to get a quote on my all my gold jewerly. I thought the Gold and Diamond Souce, were they really going to give me a fair deal. She weighed the gold measuring in grams and I left there with a deal of $888.00. Then I drove over the bridge to Tampa to Auther Yates. The nice lady weighed my gold and she weighed using the penny weight method. Again the pennyweight method. She quoted me $690.00. I went back to the Gold and Diamond source and went to the same person. She reweighed my gold jewelry again and the weight was just slightly more than the first time we came in. We both don't know what really happened but I end up with $910.00 for my gold, $22.00 more. What I do know is that I made $220.00 more at the Gold and Diamond Souce than Auther Yates and $660.00 more than Cash for Gold. My suggestion is go to the Gold and Diamond Source. A very nice employee greeted us and let us know it would only be a short wait, which was no issue. When the owner came over, he looked at the coins thought they were fake because of how great of a condition they were in, calculated the value, and offered $900 in total. When I questioned the offer, I was told something along the lines of "if you don't like it, you can leave" and was told to "sell them yourself." I understand a business needs to make a profit, but the offer felt extremely low compared to current market values. Comparable listings were around $2,000 each, with recent sold prices around $1,400-$1,600 each. I wasn't expecting full retail, but I was hoping for a fair offer. I had already received another offer of $1,150 elsewhere, and I felt the way the situation was handled was dismissive and disrespectful. I appreciate businesses needing room to resell items, but customer service and a reasonable explanation go a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling like my business wasn't valued.
