As soon as I reached out and explained what was going on, he took my concerns seriously and immediately arranged for me to be seen by a colleague who specializes in root canals. The entire process was seamless. When I arrived at the office he referred me to, they were already expecting me and had all of my information because Dr. Doshi had sent everything over ahead of time. I was able to get the treatment I needed right away, and the relief afterward was incredible. What I appreciated most was that Dr. Doshi didn't just send me somewhere and leave it at that. He followed up with me afterward, reviewed my X-rays, and has continued managing my care. He is now working on getting my crowns completed so we can finish the restorative process. I'm expected to make a full recovery, and I truly believe that is thanks in large part to Dr. Doshi listening to me and acting quickly when I told him something wasn't right. I had a disappointing experience as a new patient at this dental office…read more I had a 10:00 a.m. appointment. After arriving, I completed all of the new-patient paperwork and waited. By around 10:40, I was still sitting in the waiting area without being called, while another patient who arrived after me had already been taken back. I finally went to the front desk and asked how much longer I would need to wait. That was when I was told that their internet was down and they could not take X-rays. What bothered me was not that the internet went down--technical problems happen--but that no one informed me when I arrived or while I was waiting. I had to ask after waiting approximately 30 minutes. When I asked what I was supposed to do, I was essentially told, "It's up to you." I then had to ask whether the doctor would even be able to see me without the X-rays. I did not receive a clear plan, an estimated wait time, an offer to reschedule, or an apology for the delay. Another thing that surprised me was the environment in the office. There was a very young infant being held and a toddler moving around the office. The woman caring for the infant was involved in my conversation about the delay. When I asked her name, I was surprised to learn that she was Dr. Yolanda, the dentist I was scheduled to see. Until that point, she did not appear to know that I was her 10:00 a.m. patient. I completely understand that childcare situations and technical problems can happen, and I do not feel it would be fair for me to comment on Dr. Yolanda's dental skills because I ultimately did not receive an examination or treatment. However, as a new patient, the lack of communication, organization, and acknowledgment of the long wait made me uncomfortable proceeding with care. I eventually decided to leave without being seen. I hope this was simply an unusually difficult day for the office, but unfortunately, it did not give me the confidence I was looking for when choosing a new dentist.
