I'm reliably informed kids in Finland start snow boarding as early as 3 years old! The convenience really makes the difference here, a short train ride from Helsinki station, and a free bus up the hill from Kerova station at the other end. Then at the end of the day a free bus back. Too bloody easy. There are a nice variety of slopes, with jumps and grinds for all the cool kids and a couple of more gentle slopes for uncoordinated noobs like myself. The lodge and hire area has free WiFi, and the beers are only a euro or so more than you'd pay at an average bar. Didn't sample any hot food due to lack of time, but seems like your regular Finnish takeaway menu.
