We visited this cute place on our cruise excursion while in Alghero. It was a 75 minute drive to…read morethe charming town of Bosa which is located at the mouth of the river Temo. The tasting room is small and very quaint with a handful of tables and a bar area. We were served 2 Malvasia wines. One was very sweet and smooth. The other one too was smooth and was a bit more tropical-fruity tasting. We were served an amaretto meringue cookie and a scone-type cookie with the wines. Both were delicious! We were served the wine and the cookies by (if my memory serves me correct) the daughter-in-law of the owner of the winery Giovanni Battista Columbu. She was very friendly, hospitable and spoke pretty good English. We all seemed to understand her. She explained that the Malvasia grapes were grown and produced locally and was an oxidative-style wine. The wine was also used in Mass by the priests. The beautiful label on one of the wines was designed by her father-in-law and it was a picture of Bosa's Carnival. They have a painting of it in the winery. It was a wonderful experience tasting the wines and talking with our host. I would recommend visiting and tasting these Malvasia wines if you are in Bosa.
