I stopped in on Sunday, on my way back into town and was just going to pick up a few items. However - I got sucked into their fairly extensive wine department (Did she just say wine at Food Dog? Ahem - yes she did!). They have a really good selection - comparable to Harris Teeter in Heritage - of various local and nationally branded wines, as well as some wines from other parts of the world. They offer a 1/2 case discount of 10% on any wine purchases, and their prices are already below many other retailers in the area. They have "upscaled" the feel of this store in all fresh foods areas and it really has a - Fresh Market - type feel (as much as it could for a FL) in the produce department. All of their peppers are in little copper buckets, and the floors are done in a nice hard-woodesq laminate. It looks very much like the Lowes Foods in WF, only MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE! So, if you are out in Youngsville with nothing to do, or you want to find some good inexpensive wines in the area - run on down to the Food Dog - Ahem - I should say Food Lion and check it out!

A larger store meant more options and it was great in that regard. The layout of the store is nicely done and it appeared clean. The produce department was mostly good, but was picked over and not restocked around noon on a Sunday. The sale items on the shelves were similar. I liked that they carried three varieties of the Quaker Oat Squares cereal as I have trouble even finding one variety at other Harris Teeter stores. The shelf placement on the top shelf with the boxes left in the back meant that I could not reach them so could not purchase them. Most shoppers won't be able to reach them. They did have more varieties of Fage yogurt, unlike the other Harris Teeters, so that was a good thing. There were only two checkouts open during a busy time of the day.

The Gold Pan meals I tried were tasty but they were pricy. I love their Hi-Pro milk! The store is spacious and I never felt crowded by other shoppers. Overall, I think their groceries are a bit overpriced compared to competitors. Wegman's keeps mailing me 10% coupons, so that helps! Also, shopping the Hot Zones and using their app for coupons can help reduce cost further.

Since we are at a VRBO, we don't have access to all the spices I have at home that I would normally use so it was nice to get a recommendation from the man cutting the meat! The chops were delicious and were really juicy and tender. The ribeyes are marinating for dinner with great friends tomorrow. I anticipate we will be thrilled with the quality of those steaks as well. Wonderfully friendly people, beautiful meats, a small produce and baked foods section plus they have prepared food you can take as well! Highly recommend! You will not regret stopping in!
