Good for a Few was featured in the Sunday Oklahoman as one of the best bars in the US. So that's were we headed for Thursday date night. It's quaint and intimate. A cool bar in speak easy style. Nice vibe, a little ecceltic and fun. It's adjoined to New State Burgers in the Plazza. Enter New State Burgers turn left and then right through the curtains into Good For A Few. The server asked if we would like a complimentary bubbly or beer while we checked out the menu. We both ordered a beer. The server brought out a couple of small bottles of Miller Highlife. It was a nice touch, maybe just for first timers. We started with a couple of their house cocktails. I ordered the Farm Hand. It has agave vodka, Pajarote Tamarindo, Mandarin, Chipotle, Naranja-Miel, Lime Chamoy, and Force Carbonated. It was very enjoyable and a good summertime drink ($13). Jan ordered a Mr Tomato Head. It is Tomato plus Mango, Bluetooth Gin, Moletto Tomato Gin, Chinola Mango Liqueur, Campari and egg. It was very good. It a jazzed up Gin and Tonic ($15). For A starter we ordered Salsa DI Parm. House made potato chips with a very interesting salsa. It's Parmajean Cheese with garlic, olive oil, herbs and spices. It's quiet delectable ($8). For dinner we ordered burgers. Jan ordered the New State Theta and I ordered a custom burger. Both were very good ($10 each). To finish, we wanted a Grasshopper to share but they didn't have the ingredients to make it. So we ordered a Mr Roger's from the menu. It's made with Pie Junkie Key Lime Rum, Caribbean Pineapple, Lime, Macadamia Nut Liqueur with some levels and dairy. See the asterisk reference on the menu. It was very good, much like a liquidfied key lime pie. It's a good bar with the food menu connected to New State Burgers. The service was excellent. The noise level was high when we arrived at 5:30 as the bar was nearly to capacity. There is no happy hour and drinks are on the high side - $$$. . read more

I heard about this establishment from several friends who raved about the atmosphere and drinks so it was on my list to try. I finally made my way here tonight before a work get together and initially I enjoyed the space and atmosphere. It is very cozy and intimate, and there are not many bars like it in OKC. However, when it came to the bartenders (two from my interaction) and cocktails -- my experience was less than cozy. Long story short, I asked for an espresso martini, a basic drink I know. And I was told as such by both bartenders working, one of which called me 'boring'. They wanted me to try a drink off their menu, and I respect the pride and effort this business put into crafting unique, holiday cocktails. However, none of them spoke to me tonight, and I wanted a run of the mill espresso martini. One bartender asked if I would be willing to try one of their drinks similar to an espresso martini, to which I agreed, however I still did not enjoy and requested a regular (boring and basic) espresso martini. They said they typically avoid making these popular drinks, but made an exception for me. Which is really unfortunate, because it was one of the best espresso martinis I've had in the city. Both bartenders later apologized for their comments, but I'm unsure if they were genuine or trying to save face. All in all, if you're willing to explore untraditional cocktails with a cozy vibe, you should try this place. If you have a simple pallet, that doesn't need to be wowed, it's questionable if you should visit. If this review doesn't get me banned, I may give it another try. Happy drinking! read more

For a speakeasy, it was easy to find. We almost left because we couldn't find seatings. But the bar area wraps around. So we were able to find two at the end. Some directions from the staff would've been nice. Anyway, they have knowledgeable bartenders here, especially the male bartender who visited with us. He gave one of the best descriptions when we asked about some of their cocktails. Also, reasonably priced for craft cocktails. We had several drinks, some were better than others. 'OTR' was my favorite: a good balance of boozy and sweetness. Towards the end, we felt like we were in a cocktail class and we got to learn about a secret drink. Dead in the water mediocre. Tried 3 cocktails and they were too boozy and the ingredients don't jive with each other. End result is a beverage which we could taste each ingredient as opposed to a smooth cocktail that elevates the experience. And the taste of ethanol that stands out by itself. Here's also the kicker: they play reggaeton. What?! lol At an old timey themed speak-easy? And they placed the speaker by the bar counter so it's noisy and you can't talk and unwind.
