Man, I wish I would've noticed the apple butter with Italian fried biscuits rolled in cinnamon sugar. Those would've been good! I noticed they had a strawberry jelly in little jars on the table they must make too. Bloody Marys, screwdrivers, mimosas were all available for brunch. It's surprisingly difficult to find decent biscuits and gravy around Indy. But, oh joy! Good Morning Mama's has great biscuits and gravy. The gravy is homemade and has actual sausage in it (!) and it's served hot, not lukewarm. And if you get an egg cooked over easy to add to the mess, the egg will be cooked perfectly. Now, the biscuits in the b&gs may or may not be homemade. If you must know (and I know you must), the biscuits are a little too soft to hold up to all of that gravy. I wish the biscuits were just a touch more crispy on the outside. But this is me nitpicking. For great biscuits and gravy, go to Good Morning Mama's. For a great and unusual sandwich, get the Mama's Favorite: sliced hardboiled eggs, bacon, red onions, tomato, pickles, dill havarti cheese and horseradish aioli on slices of brioche bread. It sounds like a crazy amalgam of ingredients and a crotchety old man's dream sandwich, but just trust me! The Mama's Favorite might be a favorite for a reason. It's really freaking good. You're not going to want to make out with anyone after eating it, but you could also use it as a litmus test: How much do you want to make out with me? Are you willing to taste dill pickles and funky cheese and boiled eggs? Are you feeling lucky, punk? Because anyone who would make out with you after you ate this sandwich would be lucky, indeed. The soup of the day was Italian Wedding Soup, which had mini meatballs and spinach leaves and thin spaghetti noodles in a chicken broth-based soup. It was good. You can get a cup or bowl of any of the soups. Good Morning Mama's has a very nice ambiance going on: You seat yourself, which I am 100% behind always. They will not seat your table until the entire party is here as it's a busy place!! The restaurant has a funky diner vibe with lots of bright colors. I really enjoyed this place, me and my son stopped here for breakfast after a morning walk and some time spent at the little park not too far from there. My little one worked up an appetite because he actually ate all of his food which surprised me. So I could tell he liked it too. There's bar seating toward the front entry way of the restaurant as well as bar seating in the main eating areas, along with bar height tables, low tables, and outdoor courtyard seating.
