I went to Good People Brewing and ordered a Chili Dog with no onions and I asked for the mustard on the side and got a side of their seasoned fries. It was delicious and our food came out very quickly! I like that the hotbox food truck uses the text system so customers aren't having to wait for their name or a number to be called. It's nice to be able to sit inside and chat instead of having to wait around the food truck to receive your food. I then got a drink inside the brewery. read more

Good People beer is a mainstay around the South, and they have a wide variety of brews available all the time. With such a wide variety, you'd think there would be more than a few duds here and there. Luckily, those misses are few and far between with the choices here on tap! The building is nestled near the big Birmingham sign just off the main streets of downtown, and has ample parking within walking distance. There is also a food truck often open right next door, and a few other food options that can deliver to the brewery. They have plenty of outside seating, with long tables and overhead covering for slightly sunny or damp days. As previously mentioned, the star of the place is the beer, and they offer tons of options each day, along with the ability to get a FIVE (5) beer flight! It was a bit on the expensive side for it, but the option to try so many beers at once was a treat I didn't expect. I will return again! read more

Good People Brewing?!? More like GREAT People Brewing... AmIRight??? I've had a few of their beers at shares with a friend from Bham, but recently had the pleasure of going straight to the source on a recent visit. They were a sponsor at Yelp's Prism Party so I knocked a few back there and then went to the after party hosted by Good People. You walk up to a big outdoor patio and see the Good People moniker in lights outside. Inside is hipster-chic full of reclaimed wood and polished concrete. There's a mile long bar with chalkboard "taps" and plenty of space to spread out with a group. I didn't take the tour because I was tired and I've heard that spiel approximately 37 times but I did get to chatting with one of their reps. Not only did I love the beers Good People are producing, I love the good people themselves. They have a great mission to use quality ingredients to make exceptional beer bringing good people together in life. They also donate ten percent of proceeds to charity... because once again they're Good People! Since then I've been rockin' my Snakehandler shirt and spreading the word of Good People in hopes that they will one day distribute in Charleston too. read more

Can't believe I've never reviewed this place. They are in a great location - right next to the Birmingham Barons stadium. I'm not a beer drinker, but I do like hanging out with friends here as the environment is just nice and chill. I know they have a good selection of beers. They have food trucks come by and offer some grub for their patrons as well, which is appreciated. They have a huge outdoor patio area. The inside area is nice as well, but I think most people like the outdoor the most, weather permitting of course. The staff are nice and friendly. I wish they'd offer more cocktails / mixed drinks for those of us who aren't fond of beer. read more

Very cool craft beer venue in the heart of UAB area. I tried a flight which consisted of four 4oz pours of their beers; Snake Handler double IPA, A-Ok IPA (this is a visiting tap from Avondale), Peanut Butter & Chocolate milk stout and a new beer Imperial Honey Head. I taste the three GPB beers tested as above average (their PBC milk stout) I grade 5.0 on Untappd. I plan on bringing a crowler of the PBC home with meA flight at $12 for the quality is a great value. Only drawbacks are limited on site food and parking. read more

This was our first stop on our Birmingham Brewery Tour. Good People is probably the most well-known Birmingham brewery outside of the area. We had tried their beer before and liked it, so we were looking forward to this stop. The venue is very nice. High ceilings, lots of seating, clean, wide-open space. Plus Plus! We were disappointed though with the beer selection. There were nine beers listed on the menu. Of the nine, two were tapped out. Of the seven remaining beers, we had had five of them outside of Birmingham. One of the reasons to go to a local brewery is to try beer that you can't get at a random bar in another state. We left after one beer. At a later brewery stop, we learned that Good People had bought out Avondale Brewery and they agreed that Good People really focused more on distribution than making unique beer for their taproom. This great brewery across the street from Region's Field offered us a lovely place to relax with a delicious craft beer on a cold day after a fun explore at Railroad Park. There are several inviting seating areas inside, ranging from sectional sofas to long picnic tables to small bar tables - perfect for any size group or for a single person doing a little work. While we were there a lady walked in with her beautiful dog (he was in a leash). The bartender had treats for the dog and a cold beer for the customer, who sat at a table by the door while her pup gnawed on a chew toy. I had the brown ale, which was absolutely delicious! Malty and full-flavored, I would have liked a full pint but settled for 1/4 pint since I was driving. I do like that 1/4 pint option - 1/2 pint would have been a bit much in the middle of the afternoon for me. Good People offer brewery tours several times each day, and they have a weekly charity beer where a portion of the sales goes to a specific nonprofit. This review was about to be a one star review but was completely last second saved. My car got blocked in at their front parking lot and I asked almost every patron if it was one of their cars. I went up to the crew of three bartenders and asked one of them if she had a microphone system or knew any of the cars out there. She responded extremely rudely and said i should ask around some more and that she couldn't do anything because they were extremely busy (I legit turned around and there was no one else in line at the time). One of the other bartenders came up to me and told me he'd get it sorted out. When he took a look outside he happened to know the owner of one of the cars and went to find them for me! That was an act of amazing customer service and I'll be looking out for him next time I'm here :) read more

Not my favorite brewery but one that hits most of the right notes. Great open space setup with plenty -- and I mean plenty -- of seating, both inside and out. They have a partner food truck out front with some great snacks to share (fried pickles, tots, spring rolls) and a bunch of made-in-house sauces that are pretty dynamite. The downsides though are that they don't really have an actual flight option. They have the proper holders for a flight but a sampler of 4 beers will run you $12, which is twice the amount of just getting a pint of one of them. So getting a "flight" here seems like a bit of a waste. Also it didn't seem like they have very many activities even though they've got the space. Corn hole would surely be a great addition out front. read more

There's a Good People outlet in the Birmingham airport, so I'm already slightly familiar with their awesome product. I don't know if Good People built there brewery here before Regions Field was a thing or after, but however it turned out, they've done pretty well. I was in the neighborhood for a baseball game so I stopped by to get a beer as well. The place was seriously crowded - two deep all along the bar - but I managed to hand over a $5 and in return, I got a pint cup of their Bearded Lady which they call a witbier. Tasty and refreshing, but one was enough before heading across the street to watch the Barons. The facility here is less bar (but they do have a large bar) and more warehouse. The beer brewing tanks are right there so you can sit and watch the folks making it on site. Yummy! read more

I've long been a fan of the Good People Oatmeal stout...its coffee flavor and balance of hops has been my long favorite. Not overly sweet, not overly bitter, just right, but hey, that's just a matter of taste. Their story: Now, while visiting Birmingham this weekend, I was fortunate to visit this awesome little brewery. They came from the roots of Alabama's law change in allowing higher gravity beers and stayed at the forefront of craft beer making. The Auburn students who started it really did a great job and I wish them much success going forward. My experience: Service was quick. Folks were nice. Space is pleasant. The vibes: Design is simple, warehouse, but I loved some of the Birmingham touches such as an iron bar. Brewery tour: The tour was my favorite part. No silly videos, no annoying booklets, one of the bartenders simply takes you out back behind the bar and tells you all about their beer making process, shows the machines and occasionally mentions not to trip over one of the hoses. read more

This brewery has everything to be at least 4 stars but one of the staff threw off the experience for me. This place is great for groups and they are dog friendly. Usually when i go to a brewery the bartenders don't have a hard time letting us know the top beers they sell, but nope not this young lady. I felt as if we were bothering her so i just ordered a flight and picked random beer. The other young man behind the bar tried to come after she left to salvage the experience but it was to late. The beer was not my cup of tea but thats a personal preference. I probably will not be back because of the staff and plus i wasn't a fan of the beer. read more

Came to Good People on a Monday night. There was plenty of seating, in fact we were the only people on the patio. We brought our own dinner, sat outside and felt very safe doing so. The bartenders both wore masks and social distancing was enforced while inside. The place was clean and really felt very safe to drink at during the pandemic. Lets start with the venue, the location is located in the middle of Downtown and Southside of Birmingham. Walking distance from Railroad Park, one of Birmingham premier public parks and a stones throw from Region Park, home of the Birmingham Barons this venue is perfect. Great patio to sit outside and people watch, indoor A/C if you cant stand the heat, great transparent view of the brewmaster crafting the most delicious beer and a secondary patio if you wanted to enjoy a good game of cornhole or listen to a random band that maybe playing. Beer - OUTSTANDING!!!! Depending on the time of year you can enjoy some of their seasonal beer but they will always have the year-round beers from the IPA, Pale Ale & Snakehandler (be careful with this one 10% ABV) Foodtrucks - Good People Brewery usually has a different foodtrucks on site every day so you can enjoy some good food that matches up with the beer. Why 5 stars? Because I love everything about this brewery! --- --- --- The look/layout of this brewery is very similar to what I'd have in mind if I were to custom-design a brewery myself. The tap room is large and wide open with super high ceilings. There are TV's over the bar for watching sports, and even a sweet gift shop with Good People merch all over the place. But that's not why we go to breweries, right? If a brewery has all of that stuff nailed down, but their beer is subpar, none of it is going to matter. But Good People Brewing has that part covered too. I've only tried 2-3 beers, but I've really liked all of them. The farmhouse ale is virtually a perfect beer. I've never been an IPA fan, so I can't speak to those, but their non-hoppy stuff is great! I've been coming here since they opened and nothing was in downtown Birmingham. Good People is one of the few if not the first real success story of investing in Birmingham's downtown scene. They saw the potential of what we all now can see of the area and didn't hesitate to open business up in the heart of town. This brewery is in such a prime location with the new Region's Park sitting right next to it and the good quality of entertainment they provide with bands, yoga, meetings, you name it and you won't go wrong having it at Good People. We stopped in for a masked, socially distant beer on the patio during the COVID crisis and loved it. My husband had two IPAs and I tried two sours while our kids enjoyed Guthrie's via Door Dash (outside food allowed). One sour was a touch sweet for my taste, but the cherry one was refreshing on a stiflingly hot day. My husband especially liked the hazy Galaxy IPA. Good people is my favorite Birmingham Brewery. In my opinion it has the best beers in Birmingham. If you're a fan of IPAs or Pale Ales they have both really good options. They also have some dark beer options that are good. They just added a Mexican lager which is great if you're looking for a good summer beer. The location is right across from the Barons stadium which is great if they have a game. It is also just a block away from railroad park. They have a good outdoor area in front and typically have a food truck outside. Inside does not have a whole lot of seating. There is also a side outside area to the side of the building which has cornhole and sometimes has small concerts. The bar is really long and there's never a long line to get beer. The place is really clean and has two big bathrooms. This is a great place for a drink on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and a week night. A weekend night it's fine but there isn't any other night life or restaurants within walking distance. read more

As local breweries go, this is my favorite. First, the folks behind the taps are so friendly and helpful. I am not a beer aficionado, so I need hand-holding when there's more than a basic lager to be had. These folks are patient and fun helping me make a decision. They are really good about telling you the story behind the brew (if there is one, and there frequently is) and they don't rush you through. The digs themselves are pretty cool, too. Huge spool tables, a couch/chair seating area, the bar and an outside seating are provide more than ample areas for drinking, game playing, socializing and listening to live music on occasion. They also have food trucks visit pretty often. The beers? Well, as I may have mentioned, I am NOT a beer snob, but I will say they have something for everyone. From a really light Corona-esque Mexican lager to a heavy stout, they can meet your needs. There are Amber ales, IPAs and everything in between. The ONE thing I say is a drawback is the dearth of parking. None of the local breweries have parking as a selling point, but Good People seems to be at a particular deficit. All in all, walking a block or so foe the atmosphere is worth it to me. read more
