My most recent activity with Food Bank for the Heartland was with my company's leadership building group (Pathfinders), and our volunteering task was packing meal kits for food-insecure students. Our activity leader from the Food Bank was very informative and understanding with any mistakes made by our group or questions we had. You can tell they really care about the mission of the organization, in every step of the process. We each had certain jobs in an assembly line situation, which made it a lot easier to do everything in the correct order so the little meals are packed in the best possible way. If you volunteer with a group of friends or coworkers, you can have fun, while doing good for others. This organization does great things for the community, and are very worthy of your financial contributions or volunteer time!

The lockers require a small lock because of the angle of the latch. The locker room is well maintained. I attended a yoga class last week and found it to be a relaxing a challenging experience. I've done yoga on my own for the last few years, but I found Violet's class invigorating because she led us through some poses unfamiliar to me and was there to correct my form. Afterwards I felt energized but also felt like I'd had a good stretch throughout my body.

The pool randomly closes for issues all the time, instructors don't show up for classes, don't find subs, and people are not told until right before class begins. That is something they should post or ask people PRIOR to just doing it. I put my account on hold and was told it cancelled after 3 months if not reactivated. I never reactivated it and was charged. I would have cancelled the time I went in but was encouraged by staff to just put my account on hold. Then 3 months later am charged for my membership. DO NOT GO TO THIS YMCA!!!

Large snowstorm slowed things a bit, but we were notified that there was a delay and the volunteers did a great job of getting everything organized especially in the face of this winter storm. The difference is I would have been able to choose items that were in good condition. The items are NOT locally grown but come with stickers ready to go to the grocery store. Some of the items were from overseas. This place is a waste of time and money as well as a HUGE disappointment. Most children's clothing is $1.59, which is a decent deal to begin with, but there are also two different tag color sales running weekly - one being $.49 and the other $.99. I buy everything from books, DVDs, housewares, clothing, linens... The most I've paid for an item is $9.99, and that was a pair of like new Nike AirMax 90s. My kid was super excited! Check it out! When we checked in, we were the only ones participating in the private experience. The intern working there, I believe her name was Kara, was very friendly and did an excellent job explaining everything throughout the tour. This experience is advertised as an "interactive, hands-on experience," where you get to meet some animals that aren't included with general admission, such as the capybara, kangaroo, fox, porcupine, and raccoons. Most of the other animals can be interacted with during the regular experience, with the exception of the animals mentioned above and the wolfdog. The description states that the tour lasts 90 minutes, but we completed the entire experience in about 40 minutes. That may have been because it was just the two of us rather than a full group of six. As part of the safari experience, you're able to choose one animal to spend an additional 10-15 minutes with, and we chose the fox. I do wish they had mentioned at the beginning of the tour that the foxes tend to be skittish. Had we known that, we might have chosen a different animal for our extended interaction. They also provide a bucket of food so you can feed some of the animals during the experience. Overall, we definitely enjoyed spending time with the animals and learning more about them. However, in my opinion, the experience is priced way too high for what is included. While it was a fun and memorable visit, I personally don't feel it was worth the $125 per person cost.
