Bring gloves and your own bags for things you purchase. Found Lot's of kid's clothes brand new puzzles and just in general tons of stuff.

This was my first trip to the Goodwill Outlet and it didn't disappoint. I wasn't able to find anything which was disappointing but through no fault of the store itself. Gloves are required which were also sold by the store for a cheap price. There was plenty of bins to sort through with more being brought out all the time. The lady working the register was friendly and answered all the questions I had given that I had no idea how this store worked. The price per pound was very reasonable. read more

They have great selection for name brand sweats, jeans, dress pants, and nice DESIGNER JACKETS! That's all I shopped for so I'm not sure about their other products but their service is great. Unfortunately if people would quit stealing the prices wouldn't be so high (they have to pay their workers) and they would be able to have their old dressing room policies. Someone did something to make the ridiculous rule. Don't blame the organization that's helping the community. Call out the person stealing when you see them simply embarrassing them, or if you're up to it ask them if you can pay for what they put in their purse, pocket, etc. not even "being a snitch" will slow the theft down, which will have an affect on the prices and the dressing room policies. I hate paying extra as much as the next guy but I understand how bad stealing has gotten and at the end of the day they are a business that still has bills to pay, grants they want to give, etc. Just my opinion on everyone's negative opinion on pricing and dressing rooms. read more

Love this place. I was finally able to visit the Goodwill Outlet Store in CR over the weekend. If you're familiar with Cedar Rapids, the Outlet is in part of the former Klein Tools building on the SW side near the airport. Big, clean, open shopping space. Blue 'boats' cover the sales floor and are filled with all kinds of items. Gloves are required in order to dig through the bins. You can bring your own, or buy them at the Outlet for $1.99/each. Wonder why gloves are required? Your safety, of course. A new boat is rolled out every 30minutes (I believe). We had arrived a little after 4pm (closing is at 5pm) on Saturday and the last boat had just been rolled out. Don't assume that the boats are full of stuff the local stores didn't want - that isn't the case. I'm not sure how the boats are originally organized, but by the time the day is over clothing is mixed in with housewares. Books and cds/dvds stayed relatively separate from all other items. There are lots of great things to be found including higher-end shoes like Cole Hahn, Puma, Nike, Adidas, vinyl records, great books, etc. Merchandise is sold by the pound at $1.49/lb. If you have a heavy item and are curious about the cost, there is a self-service scale available for customers to use. Employees can put a pile of your items on their counter scale, or roll your entire cart onto the freight scale. Furniture is priced individually, but I didn't see any on the sales floor when we visited. The person I was with said they had never seen the boats so 'light.' Maybe donations are down right now. I definitely plan to come back in a few weeks, but a few hours earlier. Most customers and all employees were wearing masks, which I really appreciated. If you want to sift through each bin it will take all day. Restrooms available, shopping carts, a nice vending area (because you'll really need a snack 2 hours in). Check-out is similar to Aldi, in that there is a counter where you can bag or box your items before leaving. Employees don't bag. There are bags and boxes available for customers to use, but I'm sure you can bring along your own. Very friendly staff. Parking lot can get cramped when busy, and a small lounge area for sitting would be nice so shoppers could take a break without having to go back out to their cars. We left with a shopping cart full including books for $35. One of the top places in Eastern Iowa to find a good deal. Highly recommend. read more

Used to love going to Goodwill outlet stores in various large cities, found many bargains. Finally made it to the new one in Cedar Rapids. It was a big disappointment, the price/lb is too high now, many things I found weighed out to cost more than I could get them at a garage sale, for a lot less work. Books were a deal, but they really should have them all together as I've seen at other stores. read more

This store has great bargains. I go once a week. I found a 68 Ken & Barbie doll with clothes. They have name brand purses, clothes, lots of books, dvds, records, toys, all kinds of stuff. You can't go just once & expect to find a deal. It changes every day. I always bring gloves so I don't have to buy them there. They weigh your items, not individually priced, so they are very reasonable. read more

This was such a unique experience my friends and I had been dying to check out. We got there a minute or two after they opened and they have a large warehouse type room set up filled with super large bins for browsing. No organization which was expected, so you've gotta look hard and take time if you want to find the hidden treasures. They rotate some of the bins out every 40 minutes on the dot, which was really cool and a nice way to switch things up. You pay by weight, books are either 25 or 50 cents, and gloves are required, we'd definitely recommend! read more
