Over priced. Many items I recognized as being from the dollar store which were initially 1.25, the price at Goodwill was grossly over the original cost. Many of the items I noticed were Knick knacks and dishes. This store I thought was bad years ago, now it's just a horrid smelly mess. Donating to Ukiah's Goodwill is a waste ... not only are you treated like shit for trying to donate, they now have begun to dig through the items and cherry pick right in front of those donating (as if I have the time to wait for the mean old battle axe to pick and choose what they will or won't take). I also had no idea the amount of clothing and bedding they literally throw away!!!! Goodwill's clothing is over priced, Walmart sells NEW ITEMS much cheaper. It's a hobby collector's shop ... not a means to offer affordable clothing to those whom may be on tough times. The homeless traffic State St that passes by Goodwill continuously throughout the day, I doubt would have any issue with taking the coats, bedding and whatnot that gets thrown out Also, during the numerous times I have Donated , I have not once taken a receipt for Tax purposes, I don't donate and never will for personal gain .:.. Nor should I hear anyone who is Donating including myself being treated like shit for trying to give to Goodwill I've Donated to Goodwill out of pure laziness, it's easier to give, than to throw a GarageSale and make a buck. But thanks to this last couple months and the treatment I've received and overseen towards those whom donate ... I'm done! Disappointing: staff, stock & prices! The few items that weren't worn to the bone were priced extra high, even on brands that you can buy new at Ross for the same price (sometimes even less!). Tons of clothes, really cheap brands, bunches of clothes with holes and stains, many items that have been there months now, many racks packed so tight you can't even see the clothes on the racks. Don't they ever clear out their old and damaged items? I always thought the Goodwill was a charity organization offering gently used items at a lower price to people in need. Not the case with this store, an obviously homeless woman asked if they would take a few dollars less on a pair of warm boots and the snotty employee took the boots and said the price is as posted, put the shoes behind the counter and just looked at the woman. This Goodwill Store has a fitting room and a restroom (if you ask). The staff was helpful. The building is worn with age, but reasonably clean. However the clothes are not organized very well, in terms of sizes. I walked around a rack twice, trying to figure out whether sizes were going down, or going up, and finally gave up. Needs more sorting by size, and more labels / signs as to where sizes are. read more

Five stars for being consistent with other goodwills, 4 stars for overpriced like the rest of them. $10 for a dress?? That's reaching. The only reason I didn't give lower stars is because the selection is good and the place isn't gross and all the clothes are in decent condition but that still doesn't make up for the price of it. There are three types of establishments that I have addictions to, that I stop at no matter where I am, that I will go out of my way to get to if I see it from afar: book stores, thrift shops and any place serving coffee. So, on the drive back home, when we were searching for somewhere to eat lunch and instead came across a Goodwill, I put aside the gnawing ache of hunger in my stomach and went searching for a deal. Selections in thrift shops are always hit or miss, so it makes it hard to review. Great set up, good selection of fiction books, nice size of store, but overall no big deals or steals. Add to that customers who were somewhat rude and almost all talking to themselves, and I think this is one Goodwill I can walk away from with a clear conscience. read more

This is one of the tidiest Goodwill stores I have ever seen! The staff are so friendly and helpful. All the clothing is organized by color - very impressive. They have a tremendous selection of used books - very reasonably priced. If you're in Ukiah and find you need a lighter outfit or heavier layers for heading to the coast - this is the place to stop! read more

Coming up to spend a week in Mendocino the bf and I showed up too late in the afternoon on the first day to do much more than get some groceries and check out the town. This is a small but well organized shop. I tend to come to thrift stores on the lookout for deals on books and will peek around to see if I can find any treasures I can't live without. Clothing items are organized by size and color. There is also a small round rack when you come in that has what they call boutique items on it. There were a few new with tags items and some pieces that looked like better condition vintage. Their items are generally in good shape with the majority of items being things that are current in style. Shoes were probably too worn for most people. There is also a single dressing at the front of the shop near the counter. While I did not find anything, the bf loves silk long johns and found a couple of brand new silk long john shirts. This is a nice clean shop that I would come back to if I was in the area again. read more

I wish I could say I'm surprised at all the negative reviews. I shop on Sunday's to get the special discount but it seems like the poor workers in the store are constantly getting criticized about something. Years ago, I would've given this Goodwill 3 or 4 stars. I've scored some great treasures & enjoyed some of the nice folks working there. The past year or so it has gone way downhill. The inventory is sparse & of declining quality. Today, I was yelled at by a rude employee because I dared pick up an item from a cart that was in the aisle. According to him, they have a new policy of not allowing customers to select anything from a cart of new items. I've shopped in Goodwills & thrift stores all my life & have never heard of this. Half the fun of thrift shopping is being there when new stuff comes out. So now, they are at the bottom of my list of all the local thrift stores. read more

Not too impressed with this Goodwill. Upon entering, you will find row upon row of racks of clothing stretched from one wall to the other, and at first glance I couldn't tell which section was which of women's, men's or children's. There didn't seem to be any clothing organization as I've found in other Goodwill locations in each section, such as clothing type (pants, shirts, sweaters). Some of the women's clothing I flipped through appeared to be pretty worn or stained and probably shouldn't have been put out. Shoes can be found on top of the long racks on one side of the store and dishware, kitchen items, trinkets on top of the racks on the other side. Toward the back of the store is where the furniture items, frames, and books were found. Prices seemed like usual Goodwill prices and I actually left with a jean jacket for $8.99 and a brand new picture frame with a Kohl's tag still affixed for only $1.99. We were wending our way back from a long ride to Healdsburg (back to Southern Humboldt) and it was already past 6, but..hey, there's a thrift store...and...oh my, could it be open? Well, yeah, it was. (weekdays they are open till 8) So I persuaded partner to swerve and stop. Plus...there was this nagging urgency about my bladder, and I wondered if, maybe, oh, please, patron saint of the elderly woman, please let them have a public restroom....(they did, yes, they did. And it was clean, though really at that point, having been refused access to a restroom at the place we stopped for gas...some offbrand gas station...well, shall we say my need was rather great and I would have probably accepted a bucket). So, when I shop thrift stores (and I do shop thrift stores) what I am usually looking for are: books (selection wasn't great, and the prices were high for a thrift store; lots of bookclub hardcovers. But we did find a few things I wanted to read, because...well, it is impossible for me not to find something I want to read); pottery/glass (there was lots of it, nothing I needed, thank heaven); paintings (no); linens (no) toys (no, nothing much). I rarely shop for clothes, and that seems to be the strength of this shop, with row after row of clothing arranged by color. If I lived nearby I'd probably wander over now and then, because that's the real way to shop thrift stores (frequently!). I did find a funny brass bell with a heart handle (2.99) and a small stack of books for myself and partner. And the staff was quite friendly and kind. Bonus points for the restroom! read more

Was donating quite a lot of decent items, high end brand clothing in good condition, and household items in very good condition and after taking the good items at the donation dock I was told they would not take perfectly good crutches and some perfectly good hand tools so I asked for all my items back to donate to some place that would take it all and the guy receiving the goods told me I could not have it back. I will not ever donate to Goodwill again. I looked it up on line and Goodwill is NOT a nonprofit organization. Salvation Army is. read more

Donation center refused to take basic items that would be accepted by any other Goodwill. The entire donation center smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and the employees were extremely unprofessional and rude. I will not attempt to donate at this Goodwill again and will opt instead to donate to Hospice or another worthy cause. read more

I brought some donations in yesterday and instead of being "Thankful" for a donation, right away they started picking though my box telling me what they were going to throw away!!!! I donated some real nice perfume to them thinking they would be able to get some decent money for that. Instead they told me they were going to throw it away!!!! Goodwill of Ukiah is clean enougn, certainly has plenty of clothes, but their prices are way too high. I make garden art, and sometime look for interesting pieces of pottery, etc. I've found a few that I've just put back on the shelf because they wanted like 2.99 for 25 cent item. I am not sure who does the pricing, but they need to check what Hospice and the Senior Center Thrift Shops are doing. It might be a Goodwill thing, though, because my sister and I stopped at one in Auburn on the way to Grass Valley, and it was really outrageously priced...yet, there were tons of people in line...I must be cheap or just used to reasonably-priced USED stuff...that's the keyword, Goodwill....USED! read more
