I don't normally leave reviews, but my recent experience at this Goodwill location was upsetting enough that I feel compelled to speak up. I came in hoping to shop and support a good cause, but instead I was met with blatant rudeness from an employee who made me feel completely unwelcome. From the moment I asked a simple question about an item, I was met with an attitude--eye rolls, curt responses, and general dismissiveness. It was clear they had no interest in helping or even treating me with basic respect. What's worse is how they handled a situation with another customer, raising their voice and speaking in a condescending tone. There's no excuse for treating people this way, especially in a place that's meant to serve the community. Goodwill is supposed to promote kindness and second chances, but this experience left a really bad taste in my mouth. I hope management seriously addresses customer service standards here, because no one deserves to be mistreated while shopping--especially at an organization built on goodwill PLEASE DONT COME HERE! read more

Clean store, well kept up dressing rooms. Employees were quick to hang clothes back up after they had been tried on. Cashier was pleasant. My only complaint is it seems that the ceiling cameras can see into some/maybe all of the dressing rooms. Other than that, place is good, even felt air conditioning! read more

Ive been coming to this good will for a while now. I find the staff to be very respectful. I enjoy having a peaceful thrift and I personally do not like it when staff is constantly asking me questions. (If I have a question or concern I would take it upon myself to ask). So I very much appreciate that I was greeted and then left alone to focus on looking at items. I felt comfortable. This establishment is pretty neat and clean and organized. Goodwills are always a hit and miss. I've consistently had a good experience here, and I always have fun looking aorund. Thrift shopping is usually a first come first service and sometimes there are good days and sometimes not. The clothing prices are pretty much like any other goodwill. Each category of clothing is around the same price. I like the layout of the store although the back wall can get crowded with big electronic items. Check out is easy, and the store is clean. The service is always good. No complaints but parking can be a hit or miss depending on if you go during rich hour. However, most times you can find a spot on the street fairly close. read more

To prevent the theft of mismatched saucers and filthy pillow cases, you will have to leave your purse in a locker at the front of the store. Like what do they think I am going to steal, a half burned candle? Is there anything of actual value even in here? I think the purse monitor at the front door would be better utilized enforcing covid rules like proper mask wearing, social distancing, and actually making people use the directional arrows that are on the floor in every isle. I'm not exactly sure what everybody else is talking about with the bad reviews? Maybe because I'm older and look a certain way I've never been asked to put my purse in a locker nor have been accused of shoplifting at the store. Actually I have found so many treasures here I shop here as often as I can. It's quite a ways away from my house so I try to loop it in with a visit to the Hope thrift store which is also the bomb, See my separate review of that. I am a reseller and always looking for high end clothing to slip. I am really disappointed when I hit these two stores. I recently bought a 100% camel hair vintage full length trenchcoat here for $24 I was incredibly pleased and made a great profit on it. I agree that the prices at the goodwill have increased dramatically in the last few years and are much higher than a Goodwill in Sacramento where I have been living, but the quality of clothing here is much better as well. So in my mind it's a win. I have found the people that work here to be very kind and have had no problems other than some pretty sketchy other customers who I could understand might be asked to put their bags up or be accused of shoplifting when they are talking out loud about their drug use etc. just saying, no judgment. read more

I'm moving out of state so I've been cleaning out the house and made several trips here. First 2 days of multiple drop offs were fine. Friendly staff, no complaints about what I was donating, no scrutinizing every item I dropped off. In general I've never had anything I donated rejected until today. The guy (in my picture: grey beard, long braided hair) was looking at every item I dropped off. Looking in the bags and moving things around to look at everything. He tells us no foam mattress toppers or pillows but he accepts the blankets. If it's a bed bug issue I understand but then blankets shouldn't be accepted either. Then he has us fill out a form for a working flatscreen tv with remote. If it wasn't working why would I donate it? I've donated electronics before and never filled out a form. I never ask for a receipt so it's not like he was itemizing stuff or anything. I've never come across a goodwill employee that scrutinized my donation that much. It was my last donation before hitting the road and it just left a bad last impression. read more

I use to love shopping here. However on the last time I was there, they required me to place my purse in one of their lockers. I reluctantly complied knowing that there is theft and understand their policy. However on the other side, even with using a personal code to lock up my purse, it made me very uncomfortable. I could not enjoy shopping and even then found much of their stuff over priced and picked over. It use to be a bargain to shop here and I always found something worthwhile. However, even if I would have, all I could think about was my purse was locked up in the locker. No security person watching the lockers and the staff were not near it. A thief could come in to the store with the focus to smash the doors of the lockers quickly and steal customer's purses! Smash and grabs are happening more often nowadays and nothing in a thrift store is as valuable to a thief as a person's credit card and ID. Identity theft is very common and rarely the criminal gets caught. This is also desperate times with the unemployment rate rising due to the coronavirus epidemic. Anyhow, does Goodwill insure customers if a thief actually successfully breaks open the lockers and steal their purses?!? I doubt it! And, nothing I could ever find to buy in the store would be as worthwhile as my peace of mind that I can keep my purse next to me. Okay, to be clear, they allow small purses in the store but I carry a large wallet, my medication, and other items that are important to me. I need a large purse. Using a large purse is my decision. To be clear, they get most of their merchandise donated so it is free for them. I am sure they do great in profit. But they are worried about shoplifting! OMG!!!! Here is a suggestion, invest in security cameras. But again, remember what their purpose is in the first place, being a non profit charity ....or at least that is what they claim to be. read more

Where do I begin? Think of all the negatives about buying used and you will find it here. The merchandise and store are dirty, disorganized, and worst of all the merchandise is expensive and overpriced! The staff doesn't seem to care. They would much rather stare you down as if you are going to shoplift than offer to help you or tidy up their workstations and the rows of crammed, disheveled merchandise. I wanted to take a look at an item in their locked, glass display case but no one ever showed up with a key so I gave up and walked out. Goodwill has the same color tag system a lot of chain, thrift store's use. A certain color tag will be marked down to 50% off. The question is: What is the point of their half off sales when their prices are so outrageous to begin with! I saw a lot of new items at this Goodwill but the box and the exterior packaging of these "new items" were dingy and beat up and they still had the nerve to price these items at prices that seemed about the same, if not more expensive than retail! $39.99 for a "new" coffee machine in a beat up box that looks like it's been sitting there for years! Really?!?!? I've seen cheaper at Walmart! For my friends and family who buy and resell used merchandise as a source of additional income: I saw a Goodwill job posting looking to hire an individual whose primary job function is to go through their donated merchandise and find the items of value, with real gemstones and precious metals, higher end, brand name, trendy, and designer items. Probably so they can then mark those items up to near retail price and/or keep them for themselves. This is bad news for those who are in the business of buying and reselling. When there is hardly "any meat left on the bone" there is no point for resellers to shop here. You'd think they'd want to bring in as many types of customers they can to sell items that were donated to them in the first place and to keep the flow of goods going and therefore keep the money flowing. I heard that Goodwill has a facility in Salinas, CA where Goodwill stores in the area send their unsold merchandise. Then they are placed in filthy, nasty bins and I believe whatever you find is sold by the pound. Why not price your donated merchandise at a fair price to begin with so you don't have to have such a facility?!?! I thought Goodwill, as their name would suggest is to bring "goodwill to the community?" I guess they are intent on seeing how much they can get away with and sucker people into paying up-the-wazoo! I feel for those who can only afford to shop at thrift stores. They are getting swindled when they come here if you ask me. Hopefully people figure out that they are better off going to a Ross Dress for Less, T-J-Max, Marshalls, or some other discount store. I was at Ross the other day and heard the cashier at the checkout counter say the price of the designer men's dress shirt being purchased by the gentleman in front of me was just $1.49! Way cheaper and much better than if he were to go to a Goodwill! If he saw a similar dress shirt at a Goodwill it would have been used and dirty and would have probably been priced at near retail price! Even Walmart has cheaper new clothing than here! This thrift store and it's steady decline in service, outrageous prices, and bad quality of merchandise are the main reasons why I have stopped going here. Honestly, I saw some items that were fit for the dump! I understand that sometimes bad quality items slip through the cracks and end up on the store floor but if at least half your items are either too expensive or too dirty to sell, you might want to reconsider your business model and pricing! The lower you price your items, the more people will buy, the more money you make. The service you provide can also make or break a business. Also customers who have good shopping experiences will tell their family and friends and then they in turn will tell their family and friends. I gave Goodwill a second chance earlier this week after at least a decade ban. As you can see it was a disaster and reaffirmed the reasons why I stopped shopping here. Today I went into the store with my 11 year old daughter and was told there was an incident the last time we had been there and that we were being trespassed. I asked what the incident was and they said that my daughter threw clothes on the floor. My daughter stated that she didn't remember doing that and that she was sorry and that it was disrespectful if she did. They then said that they could see me looking around and that I saw her do it, this is untrue. I would have told her not to. I asked to speak to the store manager and I asked her if they had realized my daughter was only 11 and she said no. She said that risk management had decided so it was final. I asked if the report had been sent saying that she was a kid and she said no. I asked if there were any other previous incidents and she said no. I asked if kids are usually kicked out for throwing things on the floor once and she did not answer. My daughter is an elementary school student, i absolutely agree that she should not throw anything on the floor, but i am not sure what lesson this teaches her. I don't intend on returning, but i am surprised that this is your policy. I asked specifically if we were rude or they thought we stole anything and they said no. read more

I hadnt even left the store and was convicted of shoplifting while I was in the middle of walking up to the cashier intending on buying a ton of stuff. she said those aren't the shoes you came in with. I said I know I always walk around in the shoes I'm gonna but to make sure they are comfortable. (seriously I've done it many times!) and I buy a ton of stuff especially shoes from there. I told the lady I planned on buying the shoes , it was raining outside and I had went in with sandals and had the uggs on. she was just waiting till everyone left the store snd I was going up to the cash register. not even reaching the register but standing in line immidiatky I was confronted by a worker and told I couldn't purchase the items cause I was stealing the shoes. she said to leave or she's calling the cops. I continued to tell her I wasn't stealing snything. how can she say thst when I was going up to pay and hadn't even almost walked out the door. she then got another worker to come out who wasn't even there and act like she witnessed me stealing the shoes. what are they on there?! If you are fashion savvy and love to look for crazy cool styles at a cheap price this place is not for you. The store has priced everything super high! I've found pieces of clothing marked higher than in stores BRAND NEW! Lately goodwill has become money hungry and has stopped caring about the people. The staff is very nice, but they do make mistakes at register so keep a close eye on that! I added an example of there prices for reference and this is basically the cheap selection. They do have awesome holiday pieces, but they are very pricey! I've seen dollar tree items marked for way higher! It's pretty insane! read more

Wish I could give Zero, 0 stars to this dump. They used to have good stuff a few years back and very reasonably priced. Now it's just full of overpriced junk. Customer service is extremely bad as well. I came looking for a portable charger for my ten year old grand son's iphone. We found one and he was very happy so I bought it for him. As we were walking out of the store I noticed that it didn't have the connection cable I needed (although it did say iphone compatible on the box, it was an old model from 2008). We came back inside not even thirty seconds after we had paid for it and asked the cashier if we could get something else instead of the charger since it wasn't going to work for my boy's phone. The lady said in a rude manner: "there's no refunds or exchanges ". That was $10 going straight to the trash can. So my advice is to thoroughly check every single item you are buying or just completely avoid coming here. I've seen Jeans with missing buttons, shirts that are ripped on the back or jackets with missing zipper handles all priced at $10 or higher. On one occasion they wouldn't even sell me a shower accessory that didn't have a price tag on it saying: "I can't sell it to you unless I know what it is, because it might be something really valuable ". I could barely contain myself in front of such ignorance, it made me feel upset and I wanted to laugh at the lady at the same time... I would advise people not to bring donations either, because the workers will just steal something if it has some value, I have seen it myself they will just put it in their pocket right in front of customers. read more

This store is so close to home, I find myself here regularly. Within the last month or so their prices have increased drastically. It definitely takes the fun away from finding treasures. There are a few workers who always say hello and are kind( reason for the 3 stars) others are rude and don't even bother saying "excuse me" when they're putting items on the shelves or clothes on the racks. It also doesn't make sense to add 2 different price tags on a lidded candy dish, one on the lid and one on the bowl? When I brought this up to one of the workers they immediately shut me down and said that's just the way they price. I hope they are able to make a few changes within the store soon! This place has some great clothing, but OMG their pricing is high compared to other thrifts in the area (even other Goodwills). The staff working the floor is minimal, and their attitudes if not impolite are at best disinterested. The store is reasonably clean, and fairly well organized. The clothing all has a strange smell - not sure what they wash them with or if they just spray them with cheap perfume to hide any "dirty clothing" smells? The smell can give me a headache by the time I leave the store though. I do find gems here from time to time that are worth the price, but I don't think I've ever left this store with more than one or two things per visit. read more

This is the absolute worst store I have ever been to!!! The items are overpriced and it is always dirty. The staff are very disrespectful and like to stare you down making sure you don't steal and they like to follow you around. You also have to put your purses and bags in lockers when you come here. I have come the past few times with a electric scooter and each time they have harassed me by one after another following me around the store and telling me to place my scooter in the front. Being it Doesn't have a lock I can't lock it outside and I don't want it up front due to someone might steal it or goodwill might sell it I wouldn't be surprised. One time they did leave me alone but the next they saw me and kept harassing me even when I told them they were starting to give me a panic attack and anxiety and that I couldn't lock it up or put it in the front in that I was using it because I had a limp "I had a big bruise on my leg that hurt" other store I can take it in but not this one and their was no sign in the front stating "no scooters" they continued to harass me and my anxiety started getting worse so I put my basket down and went to the doors in the front were I told the staff basically that the way they treated me wasn't ok and they started arguing and fighting with me one employee even got in my face with a phone and trying to show me some sign out front the staff definitely isn't nice I went yesterday with my friend and this time made sure to bring my friend and lock my things in a locker and put my scooter folded up in the cart I was using but before I entered employees were already staring after five minutes a employee came up and basically said I couldn't be their and that I couldn't come back for a year and last time a cop came after I left and kept trying to be harassing she even tried talking crap about me to my friend my friend of course shut her down right away and we walked away and then decided to leave because of the very bad customer service and disrespectful we received don't come here it's definitely not worth it go support a different business read more

Sadly this goodwill has changed! I remember my mom coming to goodwill at least once a week when I was younger and I hated it because she would spend hours there. Now that I love thrifting I see how someone can spend forever looking. That's not the case with this one in particular. I don't like when I see the same stuff from target or Kmart being sold there. I like thrift shops for the unique and original pieces. They had like 5 pieces of furniture and the rest of the store was mostly clothes. The clothes there aren't cheap either. So first of all...they are open today, so someone needs to fix the hours on here because it said it was closed! Lol...also TIP****no public restrooms*** not even when you ask really really nicely. And no other stores within walking distance have public restrooms either. Big turn off when your husband has to go to the bathroom real bad, so our trip was cut short because we had to leave to find a restroom that we could actually use. So this goodwill isn't the best, honestly, but if you're looking for name brand stuff, this place is definitely not picked over. I came here once and saw a TON of Joe's jeans! If only they had been in my size *sigh* I also got a pair of Calvin Klein jeans here, which are now my favorite pair. They also have some nice dresses there. Love going to this goodwill. Probably go once a week! They have tons of target stuff still brand new in the box and a lot of brand name women's clothing. Even found a pair of men's Salvatore Ferragamo dress shoes one time. The children's clothes are pretty picked over. Even have great furniture sometimes! I shop here regularly and find a few things from time to time. I find most of this Goodwill staff is very unfriendly and somewhat impolite. One woman never says thank you and just hands me my receipt and change. I am a very good shopper and sometimes find great values, but when I take them to the cash register the staff begins questioning each other about the price being too low (I didn't price them, they did) and many times have refused to sell me the item. I shop here because we don't have many other thrift shops in Watsonville since the Salvation Army closed. Just because this is a second hand store doesn't mean the staff shouldn't be friendly and helpful and appreciative of their customers. read more

I don't shop here but I donate items here because it is close to where I live. The staff are usually rude and not at all helpful. I have donated many times and often large amounts of stuff but they will never help me get the items from my car to the store. This last time I donated 3 large bags of clothes and household items. When I brought in the last bag the woman in the donation center said, "Is that all?" and rudely pushed the donation form in front of me to fill out. I felt like they were doing me a favor.
