Goose Rocks Beach is beautiful. This is the second time that we have stayed in this area. My family and I rented a home for a few days within walking distance of the beach. Very nice beach overall. The weather varies quite a bit, it was foggy and cold on a late June summer morning when I first got to the beach. It cleared up and we had some very nice and sunny days. The beach is very wide at low tide and makes for nice walks. The only complaint was the steep $25 daily parking fee. read more

Ahhhh! Serenity is the first word that comes to mind when I set forth on this beach! Soft white sand, in the sound of waves crashing and nothing else....this is so peaceful! I really enjoy the solitude of a deserted beach! In the Summer though it must get busy around here. So if you plan a trip here during the "Beach Season" come early, there is limited parking. There is a store located within walking distance and plenty of room for bicycle parking! read more

One of my favorite beaches to visit with both family and friends. Beautiful views, not too crowded and not much seaweed in the water. The best months are June - August. May/Memorial Day Weekend can be a bit cold but still beautiful. Some tips: There is a general store right near the beach with bathrooms (porta potties). I was so excited for this beach day. It was about 5 minutes from where we were staying at Sandy Pines, and I had barely been to the beach all summer. The beach was extremely clean, certain areas were more quiet than others. The areas behind people's homes was really calm, but if you walked a little further down towards the trees it got increasingly more busy, with people playing football, bocci ball, etc. I found the water to be very cold, but very calming. Barely any waves so it seemed fine for kids to go into. But the entrance was very rocky. Having grown up near the Jersey Shore, I wasn't really expecting that. My qualm with this place, and likely why I will never go back, was parking was a NIGHTMARE. I understand, small town/small area, limited parking, but you had to go buy a parking pass from the one local general store, but even then risked not getting a spot. We decided to drive around to see if we could find a spot first and nada. We ended up asking this older couple who was sitting on their porch if we could pay them to park in their driveway. Kindly, they allowed us to park there for free. I think if they hadn't let us, we would have left. read more

Beautiful. Perfect for walking, swimming, sand dollar sleuthing, kayaking, sailing, bachi, frisbee, bird watching, reading, & of course sunbathing. The sand is like powder. Because its on the Atlantic ocean the water tends to stay cold but it's oh so refreshing. But the waves are mellow bcz of the small islands in view. Maintained. Clean. Neat islands to swim out to. Great for families & everyone. Broad & long beach so even if it's crowded you rarely feel like people are hovering. ** a beach pass is required -either a day pass or a week pass- in order to park along the beach road w/ receiving a ticket. We were extremely impressed with Goose Rocks Beach...one of the most beautiful, tranquil, sandy beaches in all of Kennebunkport. Truly spectacular. Great beach to be able to take a long walk, enjoy a great swim, paddle board or kayak, etc. Very calm water, relatively shallow for a long distance, and not all that cold for an Atlantic beach. We were passing through Kennebunkport on the way to Bar Harbor, and I wanted to get my beach fix. We arrived around 4-5pm, but still needed to get the parking pass for our car (they do give a discount when you buy late in the day). We did have to circle around the beach road once or twice before a spot opened up, but we quickly parallel parked and had our feet in the sand. We are big shell collectors, and our timing was perfect - low tide! The water was really warm too, so we could wade out easily which was helpful as the shells at the shoreline made walking kind of painful. Found tons of crab shells and snail shells, and even snared half of a sand dollar! It was warm and peaceful and a nice way to spend an hour or so before getting back on the road. So, we have been coming here for over a decade every summer. The beach is beautiful and yes, white sand, very low waves and shallow. Great for a hot day and as the tide comes in hitting the warmed up sand, the water is warmer than any other beach around. Snorkeling can be done for quite awhile. Here is my new beef though. Cost to park. When we found this gem, it was $5 a day, Last year, the town went from $12 to $15. I thought that was excessive until yesterday when we went to get a day pass and it jumped to $25. A week pass is $100. I paid it but told the kids it is time to find another beach. Unfortunate but it would seem that the residents at Goose Rocks and the town are trying to keep the non-residents away. I will admit, last year was quite crowded and cars were parked on all the side streets that allowed it. With no shoulders on those streets, cars were partly parked on peoples lawns so I get it. Just sad though. Lots of really good memories that won't continue. Guess we will create new ones at other beaches. read more

Such a beautiful beach in Maine. Be sure to obtain a parking permit. There is NO place to park without one and the streets are heavily patrolled. We enjoyed the beach after 6:00pm. The beach was NOT crowded and we found a quiet area to ourselves. Many people were walking dogs (on leash). Also there were a few families that built camp fires. We read that you needed a fire permit to do so. Looked like it would be a lot of fun if we had been prepared. Great place to spend the day and well worth the cost. read more

Take this review with a grain of salt, because I've not been in the summer. My fall and winter visits, however, were amazing and lovely. The parking ban and sticker requirement that is needed for this beach is not enforced in the offseason, so check it out sometime this spring or next fall. It really is a pretty beach. I wouldn't say it's more pretty than Pine Point in Scarborough, my favorite beach personally, but it's a lovely sight all the same. Glad I could check it out. read more

My family has a beach house here and it is easily my top 3 favorite places in the United States. GRB is a gorgeous 3 mile stretch of beach perfect for everything from simple sunning to running in the morning (and seeing the hoard of dogs all play together) to kayaking/paddleboarding. I have never encountered a space issue and what's really nice is that they only have very few parking spaces along the beach, so that definitely cuts back on the crowd, although during peak renting season there is definitely a crowd! The beach is kept really clean and is a great one for shelling/sand dollar-ing. Great beach for families/kids, there is a general store with basic needs stuff, booze, and actually pretty good food! Highly recommend this beach as a getaway for anyone looking for a relaxing, casual yet can be upscale, beautiful vacation destination! read more

Easily the best beach I have been to in my entire life! My family rented a house here this summer and I had an incredible, peaceful time. As a kid, vacations were always in Ogunquit, ME, which is touristy and wonderful and exciting, but I enjoyed having the space and peace and quiet of goose rocks. The beach does allow dogs after 6 PM. Parking permits must be purchased through the general store, there is no public parking. However, most of the rentals and houses here are easily within walking distance to the beach.
