This place is your quintessential hole in the wall Mexican joint in a run down shopping center. I've passed it several times over the years and was curious. Turns out...I found the joint listed on some "best of (fill in blank)" list and bookmarked it. Boy I'm glad I'm from the border (El Paso originally) and speak Spanish, because that's how I was greeted, spoken to, how I ordered, and how the cashier and I spoke. I'm pretty sure no one speaks English, and can all but guarantee I was the only guero on the block. Bare bones menu, which was kinda refreshing. Gorditas. Sopes. Flautas. That's it. Food came out piping hot and glistened with grease. Epically authentic. HUGE. Ordered three (3) gorditas and barely finished...and I'm an eater. You get a helluva lot of food for the price point. Pork was tender, falling apart in my mouth. Food was fantastic, no other way to say it. This place is legit. I'm going back.

Mole gordita- I had to eat some of the meat out of it bc it was filled

Holy mother of all gorditas in San Antonio!!! The service top notch! Fernanda was super attentive and nice! The food!! Super savory and the amount of generous meat in las gorditas is out of this world! The place is pretty and the place is always packed and happy everything

Had lunch at this spot and it was delicious! Service was great and prompt - I ordered Tinga (chicken). There was pork or beef for the gorditas. There was a green spicy sauce at the table and that was amazing ! I recommend this spot & there is there locations in Texas as well !

The food was OK but the expectations versus reality is a little different what you see online and social media for this location and what you see while you're there is very different. The food had almost no flavor, tender, and great service but expectations were much higher.

Pork meat in green sauce & pressed pork Gorditas OMG!!!!

WOW!!!!! I'm a forever client! The food is top notch! The full order of flautas are bomb & the Gorditas are perfect..the customer service is great, very welcoming! The green and orange salsa are the cherries on top. I don't know why I waited so long to come here, I definitely recommend this place!

06 Sep 2023 Nice crunch and char.

06 Sep 2023 Oh my. So good. They serve all manner of Gorditas and they serve flautas. The Gorditas can be be flour or corn. Chose corn always! There's about a dozen or more choices of fillings for the Gorditas. They include potatoes with green or red Chile (the green was pretty hot), picadillo, chorizoqueso, pork and more. The Gorditas are 'a La plancha'. They are finished on the hot stovetop grill, producing a delightful light crunch complete with char marks. Delicious. The shell surprisingly holds together while you eat. I think this is because they are on the thinner side, rather than those fat, not totally cooked versions most places serve. The husband had a beef with nopalitos and a pork with nopalitos. I had a picadillo and the pass verdes. Yum to all!! My only 'complaint' is that they serve no diet drinks or brewed tea. They sell bottled ice tea. I had a regular Coke. Go there anyway.

This place was packed when we walked in but we got seated right away. The menu's are in English and Spanish and are stickers on the table. They have Aguas Frescas in Horchata, Jamaica y Limonada, they come on large to go styrofoam cups. The drinks don't include free refills. My husband loved the Cafe de Olla, it was smooth with hints of cinnamon. They have Gorditas, Sopes, and Flautas with many choices of fillings. We ordered Gorditas with Picadillo, another with carne con Chile, another with choriqueso, another with shredded chicken with chipotle sauce. The restaurant is playing lively Mexican music, they have lots of photos of Mexican movie stars and a beautiful painted wall mural. So the verdict of our taste test was in first place the Picadillo Gordita and then the carne con Chile beef Gordita, third the choriqueso (I suggest you eat it hot), and last the shredded chicken with chipotle sauce.

The food was good as always. This is the first time I try the picadillo sope. I had to order another! Try them they are superb! You can't have just one! The staff is always friendly and efficient. Food comes out quick! Restaurant is always clean.

Wow, what a delicious spot for gorditas. We were down the street for the 4th weekend and knew we had to check this place out due to it looking busy every time we passed by! Our order was to go so quickly made our way to the register to order. It was busy and full of people but never felt chaotic. We ordered 20 gorditas de picadillo, carne con chile, nopal y queso, and 2 soles de chorizo. The gorditas were great! Fantastic flavors and stuffed to the max. They were overflowing with meat, hot, and the masa was in point. My two sopes were the beesssttt! Sope shell was fried to perfection, the crunch was excellent, the toppings were phenomenal and their salsas were absolutely delicious! 10000% will be back when in San Antonio.

    Making it rain Gorditas!

Food was decent and very authentic. Kids loved the flautas. The gorditas are pretty big. We also had sopes and those are good. But a family of four was over $70 with tip. Very expensive for typical street food.

In the lobby for checkin today, I had an instant headache because the fragrance was so strong. At that point they informed us that there is some additional fee per day on top of the already pricey room, a fee that they never disclosed before today. We continued upstairs, and I could hardly breathe in the elevator it was so scented. When we got to the room it was also heavily fragranced. I tried to call the front desk, and the phone in the room didn't work reliably. Our call dropped several times. They offered box fans for us to air out the room. However, when we opened the windows, a blast of cigarette smoke wafted into the room because it is directly above their designated smoking area. We asked the front desk for help, and they said not to worry, hardly anyone smokes in that area. Meanwhile we watched several people out there smoking almost constantly. They offered no other accommodation or help. Not worth it. Very uncomfortable and upset because this will ruin our vacation. Edit: 1 to 3 stars. The manager eventually heard our concerns, responding to a secondary issue with cigar smoke in our room after leaving windows open - their recommendation- to air out the room. They found us a different accommodation and made it more than fair and comfortable. Why not 4 stars? Because it took the entire first day to be resolved.
