We started our visit to The Collection with lunch. There are several restaurants nicely spaced apart, but I suggested we check out The Annex for more options. The husband's mind was made up as soon as we walked in to see the large chicken statue in front of the glowing red storefront of Gordo's Hot Chicken. We looked at all the other food offerings, only to end up back at Gordo's. Ordering was very easy on one of the two kiosks. The team members are also quick to help or answer questions at the register. Our food came out fast! The Sandwich Combo (Regular/Hot) with fries and Mac & Cheese, no slaw for the husband. Gordo Fries Combo (Spicy) for me. We found it all fresh and delicious. The option for two sides (included) is great. We found the chicken moist and tender -- the heat levels were perfect. The Mac & Cheese was a favorite. It was one of the husband's sides and generously piled on my Gordo Fries. There's plenty of clean tables and seating inside The Annex. I was really excited for this. I loved burnin mouth and was confused that it was replaced with another chicken place - chicken sandwich : it just didn't have flavor. The construction is weird bc it's like in a small hotdog bun. The chicken felt over cooked. While the flavor of the breading is good (can really taste the rosemary), it was wayyy too crunchy and hard. Like my teeth hurt after. Very weird with pineapple slaw, where the pineapple is definitely canned. - Mac and cheese : my husband liked this but I didn't. The texture was great, but it doesn't taste like cheese at all. I can't explain it - sauce : their sauce is almost identical to Chick-fil-A sauce but more Smokey - fried pickles: great texture but literally no flavor - gordo fries: this was the only thing I liked. My friend and I stopped at Gordos Hot Chicken for lunch which is located in the Annex at the Collection. We both had been eager to try this spot since it opened fairly recently at the annex food court and anyway is an excuse for fried chicken. There was no line so it was meant to be. You order at the electronic monitor in front of the store and it was all pretty easy to navigate. We were also impressed that the food came out pretty quickly yet all tasted super fresh. I ordered the three tender chicken plate with fried pickles and Mac & cheese. My friend ordered their loaded French fries but of course he wouldn't let me take a picture of it...Okay, let me reframe, he started eating BEFORE I could take a picture....men lol. The chicken was definitely juicy and huge pieces of white meat for the tenders. My friends loaded fries plate was gigantic so be prepared to come hungry. I'd say the chicken was really good in terms of portion size and freshness, however I personally like a little crunchier / thicker batter and the seasoning was on the mild side. The Mac and cheese was good for sure and different. I don't think I'd get the fried pickles again, small and crunchy but they don't have homemade ranch here (they just give you the packets - so that didn't seal the deal for me with the pickles). I think next time I'll try the loaded fries plate with chicken and Mac because my friend liked his meal more and a lot of people that messaged me when I posted I was at Gordos earlier recommended the fries :) They have a unique flavor profile and taste which isn't comporable to other fried chicken / hot chicken joints I've tried in the area. If you are a hot chicken connoisseur I'd be curious for your take on this spot. Overall I'm just happy we have some new and creative spots popping up at the Annex which makes this a spot for everyone to come, catering to all tastes and preferences. The staff was professional , and friendly. The menu is simple but has something for everyone. Who does not like chicken , fries and Mac n cheese? This place has a Gordos Chicken fries and they are tasty . Hookup with season fries , Mac n cheese, chicken coleslaw with bits of pineapple. It may sound weird but it's tropical and crispy in one bite. The location is nice , you can come with the family, or by your self. The scene is cool . Very nice ambiance to enjoy good food. This spot is mid when it comes to hot chicken. I've had the GOAT aka Howlin' Ray's many times. So obviously tough to compare to that. It pales in comparison to Dave's and similar establishments. This chicken isn't even hot spicy wise and the breading is terrible. I ordered the 3 tender combo and the bottom of the tenders were soggy with no breading or crispiness. The chicken itself was tender and cooked well. That was pretty much the only highlight. The crinkle cut frozen fries are under seasoned. I can do better at home. The Mac and cheese had a decent flavor but overall nothing special. I've given those spot a couple of tries but will definitely never return. Like many Annex restaurants i doubt they will last. Food here is delicious! It's become mine and my husband's favorite. He loves hot chicken and we've tried other places but this place is better than all the others. I'm a long time customer from the first food truck and it's cool to have seen this business grow into a brick and mortar. The food is delicious and the restaurant provides a cool atmosphere where I know that it's always open and the restaurant is really clean and the staff is friendly. Finally got to try the Gordo's Killer Hot Chicken. This is really as good as comfort food gets. The killer hot chicken is as hot as it is flavorful. These guys really have the flavors dialed in perfectly. The fries are ok, but all the other sides are simply superb. This is the only fast food place that can satisfy foodies. For starters I went in today Friday 05/9/25 at 2:30 me and group of friend stopped by deciding wether going here or Dave's hot chicken. We were so wrong. Btw I was the one in jorts in a white shirt I will give them that their customer service was pretty good but they looked like they didn't want to be there. Second 5 bucks for a lemonade with no refills is crazy. Second the small portion of fries that deaduzz was like 10-15 fries. The mac n cheese tasted like it came from a can.
