For understanding, real estate attorney's get free wire services from banks in their settlement trust accounts. It takes the attorney's assistant no more time to do the wire than to prepare a check. Even if it did, it is 5 minutes of admin time. As a seller I have no choice to shop around because the buyer chooses the settlement agent. Not all other attorney's charge, though most do charge. However, the fee is so ridiculously out of normal market price as to be unconscionable. It's a rip-off. They feel like they can get away with it - because you have no choice. I'm all for profit. They've taken it to a "rip-off".
