If you are in the area (Annecy, Aix-les-bains) it is worth going and see the Gorges du Fier. This is a spectacular canyon you can visit from March until October for a small fee (6 Euros when we went.) Have fun trying to discover the imaginary faces on the big rock formations. Plan about one hour to go to the end of the canyon and back. Afterwards, you can enjoy snacks and drinks on a patio right outside of the entrance. read more

Breathtaking ravine close to Annecy, that you can visit 20 m above the river. Great in the middle of summer heat since it's really refreshing. Nice picnic places around and buy your bread in nearby Lovagny from Klaus, a German-american who reopend local bakery together with his french wife a year ago. Delicious! read more
