Great soups (a Fish Soup with safran, a Goose Soup with liver dumplings), Roasted Pork with Dumplings, a delicious Tafelspitz, and Plum Dumplings, hmm. All accompanied with a wonderfully fresh Gruener Veltliner Federspiel Knoll 2012. The pride of this restaurant is its spacy orchard garden, of course, but it was too late and too cold to sit outside. We quite literally stumbled upon this restaurant as we were wandering towards the train station. We were delighted to also stumble upon an entire pedestrian friendly street of shops and restaurants. We have already learned to ask for English menus and they were retrieved. The dish that intrigued me was listed as an Austrian Traditional dish, described in English as Homemade Pasta with Caramelized Cabbage. It also had crispy little onion rings on top. That's what I got. The flat noodle pasta was cut into small squares, the caramelized cabbage a mild flavor where the more I ate, the more I liked. There was plenty of food and then some. I would describe our experience as visiting the most touristy restaurant we have found so far. Our server was friendly and helpful, and not wearing a white dress shirt but rather more traditional garb. We ate outside but also stopped inside, discovering spotless bathrooms that were quite automated with doors and lights. Very cool.

I'm so glad we did. This restaurant was such a surprise - we really had a wonderful experience. First of all, the restaurant is really beautiful. It's located in an inn that is over 150 years old. The interior of the restaurant was really beautiful, traditional, warm, and comfortable. But we sat outside in their beautiful back garden. It was a stunning setting for a meal. It was one of the view restaurants we visited that didn't have a menu translated into English, but we were able to Google Translate the menu, and the staff were helpful, too. We ordered their Schnitzel and roast chicken, and both dishes were beautiful and delicious. I wish we hadn't been too exhausted from our day of driving and exploring to have a couple of glasses of wine, because they had a really excellent selection - and the setting really called for a glass. Overall, the service was wonderful. The food was delicious. And the restaurant was stunning. It was easily one of the best meals we had during our trip to Austria.
