He doesn't read emails. He does respond to text messages and says he will get you answers but never does. He has been a huge disappointment and does not seem to care about what I am dealing with. I've told him I need better communication from him but it doesn't help. The only thing his firm is prompt about is sending invoices. I could never in good conscience recommend him to anyone. The only reason I have not yet changed attorneys is because of the money I have invested so far. I'm at the end of my rope and if things don't improve very soon I will seek a new attorney. If it comes to that I will do a lot more research before choosing someone.it would be nice if I could find an attorney who cares about me and my situation and is willing to provide a free consultation. If there are any attorneys out there I'd like to know.

I told her specifically that I didn't want an attorney who wasted my time. After I paid my $5,000 retainer in April 2025 it was crickets. After 2 weeks I emailed saying ummmm, next steps??? The next day she wrote me telling me that it was on her to do list to do a motion and that I'd have it by end of week. I didn't have it by then. She e-mailed a draft on 04/30. She told me she couldn't finalize motion until she got my original SC order, which was identical to our NC order that she already had possession of. Then she set up a drop box for me to deposit information into. I deposited it and again two weeks later reached out to ask them whats up. She never responded and 4 days later I followed up, then emailed Jon Knode & Kate Rech to keep them aware of my dissatisfaction. They both reiterated that they had no way of knowing if I had uploaded documents into dropbox. I'm like well, did anyone check? I then let them no I no longer wished to be a client. They tried to charge me an additional $1,156.50 telling me that I owed $2,000 as a true retainer when I first came on board. ARE YOU FREAKING kidding me? I've legit had 2 e-mails with Alaina and nothing to use towards my legal case. RUN FAR FROM THIS FIRM.

On September 22, 2024, under extreme stress, I mistakenly provided my attorney with an incorrect contact number for my ex-husband. On October 2, 2024, I sent my attorney an email correcting the phone numbers and requested that my attorney verify the numbers before taking any further action. My attorney responded, assuring me, "I want to double-check the numbers that I have". The subpoena for phone records that was submitted by my attorney incorrectly listed my phone number versus the opposing parties phone number. On October 10, 2024, my attorney forwarded a subpoena to AT&T with the incorrect number, resulting in my personal call records being sent directly to opposing party including me as a CC recipient without verifying the accuracy of the information or consulting me beforehand. This included my personal phone number and private call history. Such negligence led to a serious breach of my privacy, exposing my personal information and leaving me in a compromised and vulnerable position. September 23, 2024, I had my first subpoena hearing regarding my child. My attorney, Christine W. Rosenhauer, repeatedly instructed me not to bring my child with me to the hearing. My attorney confirmed this multiple times over the phone, even calling me during the week to emphasize that I should not bring my child. However, on the day of the hearing, the judge requested to see my child, which resulted in the hearing being continued to October 4. This delay caused me additional and unnecessary expenses. On October 4, 2024, the rescheduled hearing day, my attorney did not request my witnesses to testify, nor did she present any of the messages she had requested as evidence to the judge. despite confirming to me multiple times, in front of the witness, that there was no way my ex-husband could win or take my child from me. After consulting with several other attorneys, I learned that my attorney should have advised me on the negative impact the actions taken by my child would have against my case leading up to the hearing. These actions include but not limited to; running away, skipping classes, and damage to the home. This was never presented to me. Leading up to the hearing I asked on multiple occasions what would happen if we lost the hearing. Each time I was advised that there was no way my ex-husband could win or take my child from me. " I have all the evidence messages and emails" This lack of guidance and transparency left me unprepared for the hearing and put me at a disadvantage in my case. Unfortunately, I lost temporary custody, and my attorney charged me approximately $7,700.

I explained that I had arrived at approximately 12:04 and had been waiting. What bothered me wasn't having to wait. Offices run behind, and I completely understand that. It was the way the situation was handled. A simple "Sorry about the delay, I'm ready for you now" would have been enough. Instead, the interaction immediately became confrontational, and Barbara asked me whether there was a problem. At that point, I told her that we did not seem like the right fit, and she agreed. I then asked for my intake paperwork back because it contained my personal information. She declined to return it and stated that she would shred it immediately. People seeking an attorney for divorce, child custody, or other family-law matters are often already dealing with an enormous amount of stress. When choosing someone who may represent you during one of the most difficult periods of your life, professionalism, communication, and some degree of empathy matter. I can't speak to Barbara's abilities as an attorney because our interaction never progressed far enough for me to evaluate her legal representation. I will say that she is the best at answering emails, but don't generally expect a call back as she is a very busy lady. She answered every single question that I had and I had a lot, because I had never been through anything like this and did not know anyone who had filed for bankruptcy before. One of the best things about their office is that I never had to go to the office, was you just scan all of the documents they need in online.
