Ok so, the food here is decent enough. I'm no expert on Thai food, but for lunchtime fast food this isn't bad. I've tried the pad thai and butternut squash red curry and enjoyed both. There's more seating inside than I first realised but it's essentially a take away operation. What I do not enjoy is the bizarre portion sizing/pricing. There is a mini version of most options which is around £4 and then the regular option, which is actually giant, for around £6. This second option must be double the size of the first, so is better value for money, but it's really too big a portion so you probably will be full 3/4 of the way through. Why not have something in between that costs £5, Grab? Why make me go through the agony of wondering if you are somehow taking me for a ride? I just want to enjoy my prawn crackers! A great Thai take-away option for okay prices. I was a bit puzzled by the portion sizes as the mini looked quite small and more of a snack size and the regular was giant! Grab a container of rice and they will fill you up with some fresh hot curry. The green chicken curry was pretty tasty and had chunks of squash and zucchini as well. GRABTHAI is close to where I work and I popped in there for lunch today, bored of the usual sandwiches I get from Eat, Pret, Sainsburys etc. As soon as you walk in the place smells delicious, I couldn't wait to try the food. Sadly my first choice of pepper and garlic beef stir fry was sold out (but it was 3pm by this point). However the guy serving tried hard to recommend other dishes for me, including massaman curry if I wanted something mild. I'd had massaman curry before and wanted something new so I went for the Panaeng curry beef. I got some prawn crackers and peanut dip too because they are two of my favourite things to eat in the whole world. Sadly, the peanut dip had a very nasty chemically taste to it and I had to throw it away. The prawn crackers are divine though, a big bag for £1.50 is good value as they are very high quality. The regular sized beef curry was generously portioned and good value at £5.05 including rice. I couldn't finish it and will probably eat the rest for dinner! The flavours are good, spicy, sour and creamy all at the same time, however the beef is a little tough but at this price I don't expect melt in the mouth meat! They charge £2.10 for a can of San Pelligrino though which is over the odds to say the least, go to Sainsbury round the corner and get one for 85p, if not eating in of course! read more

Grab is a off-the-main-street place that has figured out a great system for providing fresh, healthy and flavorful food for the shuffling masses bored with Pret and EAT. They have a simple take-out style - which allows them to process more people faster than you might expect, without suffering quality issues. My favorite is the small Pad Thai Crispy Tofu - which i add a generous helping of lime juice and soya sauce to really bring out my favorite flavors. Charming, affordable and decent Thai food in the area. Don't come here expecting for it to blow your mind and you'll be fine. They're quick and close to the business district so, I think it's a convenient place if you're looking to grab a quick lunch. I got the Red Curry w/Butternut Squash and Chicken Satay Skewers. I loved the butternut squash and think it's a great vegetable for curry. The curry wasn't spicy, a little too heavy handed with ginger but, it was alright. I liked the Chicken Skewers more. It had good flavor and they were made with white meat and served with peanut sauce. I like that all the rice comes in containers that they'll prepare your curry in and they have a selection of brown or white rice too. As a nearby business school student who absolutely loves Thai food, it was a dream come true when I discovered this quick, delicious, and financially-friendly thai-to-go place. Where to begin? The portions are very generous and a great value for the price. To anyone who complains it's a trivial £1 more than some "cheapest-thing-around" Thai food - my response is simple - it's the QUALITY. Everything is handmade by Thai people who use pure, traditional ingredients rather than cutting corners to save a few pence. And you can have brown rice for the same price as white rice - I love a place that doesn't penalize you for being healthy! Enough of the economics though - I wouldn't come here so often if it weren't delicious. The red butternut squash is so full of spice and flavor it's my favorite (and I'm not even a vegetarian). And the Thai iced tea actually tastes more like tea than sugar! Definitely the best I've had anywhere outside Bangkok. Being tasty, quick and inexpensive makes this the perfect place for anyone looking for a supremely satisfying Thai meal on this side of town. Highly recommended. read more

It's convenient for my tastebuds that this place is right down the street from my work, but not convenient for my wallet or my belly. It's so freakin' delicious!! It's not too pricey either, which is always good. The staff are so friendly and always helping new customers decide on what to get. My favorite is the green curry chicken with brown rice but the red curry is also amazing. Go for the smaller size though, because the large one is big enough for two with all the rice you get. I would go here everyday for lunch if I could. When you walk in, you grab either rice or noodles from the coolers to the right and then the staff tops up your pot with curry, sauce or soup. It's QUICK easy and perfect for lunch on the go. There are also some chairs inside that are good if you're looking to eat in. read more

For a takeaway (mostly) Thai place, I have to say I was pretty darn impressed with my Thai Green Curry Chicken w/ brown rice pot. Sure, this is a non-major chain version of a Pod/Eat/Itsu type joint, as in it is aimed at office workers who want a quick, tasty, portable meal already prepared in a takeaway container. As they mostly do lunch/takeaway and I live in the area but do not work in the area, it has taken me a while to pop in, but I am glad I finally did. I spent about £3.50 for my whole meal (curry with meat plus rice) and even though it was pre-made, curry holds up well to that. Spiced, sweet and fragrant (but not too spicy) green curry, lean and tasty thigh meat (more flavour than dry, blah breast meat), and fluffy brown rice. Quite affordable as well! If I worked in the area I would be a regular. Surprisingly good Thai curry given the type of vendor, affordable, and a bit different from your average boring sandwich. And it was certainly way tastier than a Itsu Potsu! read more

Opened now for a while just by The Angel pub on Old Street. Nice interior food is cooked fresh and is quite tasty. However it is let down by the small portion sizes and more than anything else the price. £6+ for a small tub of curry is not good value when I can walk to Whitecross Street market and get a large tub of Thai Curry for £5.50 with rice. They do a mini version for £3.95 but you get more rice and veggies than meat. So if you are reading this GRAB lower your prices!!!!! read more

This place is located at the top of Boltoph Lane and is okay. I came here for lunch and opted for the chicken pad Thai. It was pretty good and filling however for £6.85, I thought that it was a bit on the pricy side. They also have curries and salads and a breakfast menu. read more

Really tasty thai green curry! I go here on a regular basis and always have the same. I really like that you can choose how much rice you want (small or big box) and whether it's brown or white. GRAB is close where I live, does fast (Thai) food and is close to my nearest park, and the staff were friendly. There is ample seating, but this is more of a casual quick dining option or a place to get food-to-go. At £6.99 for lunch in a cardboard takeaway box, I am not that impressed with the price. The free drink check-in offer made it feel slightly better (I got an iced tea normally priced at £2.50, but truth is, I could have had a sit-in lunch elsewhere for this price tag. The butternut squash curry on brown rice was fine. I liked that they had dried and fresh chilis, like the ones you find in Thailand. Had I compared this to other London offerings, however, I would rather go elsewhere with more ambiance. This would be near-perfect if they charged a fiver for the takeaway box. read more

Thai food grab and go... but if only the food actually tasted good. Because the food was prepared beforehand and is kept warm in a heater, the noodles tend to get dry and start to stick together. Because the containers are high brimmed cups, it's difficult to get to the bottom. The Tom Yum soup was also average at best. There were too many mushrooms and not much else. Although it's convenient to stop here for lunch considering it's across the street from where I work, I'll likely stick to Ozone going forward. read more

GRAB, located conveniently just off Old Street, is a must-visit for anyone looking for Thai convenience food. As a person, who visits Bangkok regularly, I think this is the closest that you can get to the famed-street food of BKK. The green chicken curry (with butternut squash) and panaeng beef curry are absolutely brilliant. The richness of flavors, the nuanced tastes and the liberal spices added to its food suggested that GRAB really cares about it what it does. Had the Tofu Pad Thai for lunch, take out. It was so bad I felt the need to write a review. Noodles were so overcooked they fell apart, broccoli was soggy and the only other addition to the mix were a whole load of cooked carrots.
