Subsequently he expanded and it become Freedom which was later bought by the Hilb Group. Before this, Mark would contact me with ways to save, and very personal service. He expanded his business and hired others which I don't mind but I started seeing little increases in my renewals with Progressive over the years as he did this. I didn't complain because I realize everyone needs to grow. However, after the business was sold to the Hilb Group, I started seeing higher increases and less customer service from the local offices and started wondering what I am paying for. I don't need middle men insurances offices to send me reminders to pay my bill, I can do that online by myself. I called my local office/agent (Freedom Insurance Cape Coral) after Hurricane Ian because I lost my car (first claim in 12 years) and my agent locally could not help me and and Progressive was a nightmare to deal with. I am a low risk driver and have a vehicle for work. I log less than 5000 miles on my vehicle per year. Progressive and Freedom Insurance Agency (as well as now Regency Insurance Bonita Springs) which got bought by Hilb was emailing me and calling me to renew my Progressive Auto Policy which now was raised in my renewal for Sept 2023 to $800 more a year to $1500 every six months. I called Geico (they offer direct coverage) and am paying $700 for 6 months for exact same coverage. Call around and get your own quotes and research.
