This house of God is diverse in every sense of the word; you'll find all ethnicities, all ages (from 5 months to 95!) and everyone is so warm and welcoming. They're very active in the community whether it's their FREE Community Meals every 2nd Thursday each month or the free after school program for the community kids! My family is blended, not to mention interracial, and we fit in perfectly and were never judged. (Unfortunately that was NOT the case elsewhere) All 5 members of my family are highly involved in volunteering and actually enjoy and look forward to going to church now! It's amazing! This review is not about the worship or the community that makes up the church. I have never attended services here and leave that to others for commentary. I have, however, been here for meetings and catered meals hosted by other organizations, and my comment is simply this: erase what you think of when it comes to traditional church fellowship halls. First Preby does not play and could rival many venues in the many skyscrapers that neighbor the church. With a modern sound system and lighting options to rival newer venues, you could get as techie as you wanted in your presentation. Watch out performing arts center, there could be a contender here. The seating area is also very open and well lit by natural light during the daytime. This is in no small part due to the open spaces and expansive grounds that surround this church, a sure rarity in the modern city where lofts clocking in under 1000 square feet still go for more than $200K. The grounds themselves are immaculately kept and even have something of a country club feel. Bottom line: there is no deferred maintenance here. Given that it was originally built back in the mid 1800s, that's impressive. Tours are available and would be worth a visit by anyone stopping thru the city and wanting to visit a place where a little history has been made. Secret tip, there is some parking spaces available in the private driveway that transects the property- first come, first serve, but a rarity to find amongst limited street-side parking and pay lots.
