I was in Kearney, NE for about 3 to 4 weeks, looking for a job (which I never really found). The…read moreculture in that area of Nebraska was very odd to me. A lot of people are homebodies and never traveled - so they don't know they are odd (but they are). This church was one of the better churches I went to. I went to them for some food and gas assistance - I've been out of work since June 2021 and so of course my funds are very low now. I also needed spiritual counseling, and one of their Pastors did speak and pray with me. Most of the churches and pastors in town acted like I had leprosy - a couple Catholic churches were good to me too. But this church serves the poor and does a lot to help them. In my view, they are doing what Jesus has asked them to. So this means there is something very spiritually sound here. Some churches stop serving the poor, and I think they will be severely judged for it. Jesus loved the poor. So I never worshipped here, although it might have been nice to do. But they were kind, run a food pantry which helped me out, and they helped me with some provisions to leave too. Churches who care for the vulnerable are good churches! If they don't treat you like you have germs - they are a pretty good church. I do recommend this church.

The reason I was at this church was unfortunate as it was for the funeral of my cousin. If you are…read morelooking for a denomination free church in Kearney this is a fantastic one. Very large building with plenty of off rooms for events, a beautiful chapel area where the services are held, a small coffee shop for post services and great children services to allow the adults to have time to worship. The Childrens area is complete with a slide that goes from the main floor to the basement. The pastor here is very nice and i am always partial to churches with a full service team of singers and musicians. This was an A+ church as far as I could tell.

This is a large, pretty Catholic church. I'm not sure about their spirituality though…read more Their pastor was one of two pastors who did some spiritual counseling with me, although it was very limited here. Another Protestant pastor listened more. The Pastor here, while nice on the surface, seemed to be scared of me or something. I am Catholic but have been in/out of the Church due to some poor treatment and the fact that they view me poorly too. However, this Diocese is doing a lot to help people. I had some good connections with the overall Diocese here. I went to mass here for daily mass once or twice. I never attended a weekend mass here. I was more comfortable in a parish which was in the Lincoln Diocese. But in the end, I was pretty uncomfortable with the Catholic church. Period. In this town, I guess if you are not rich, churches don't really welcome you. I felt treated like a freak mostly the entire time I was here. I did ask to song lead or do music with this church since another church was letting me and I was being encouraged. But this church never made those connections. Overall, my relationship with the Catholic church was severely damaged here. But they did assist me some. This is another church that does care for the poor - which is right. My recommendations here are so so. I think they are cliquish and don't let new people in very well. But I think some of the other churches were worse.
