The courtyard is surrounded by tall brick walls to keep this oasis quiet and stunning! With meticulously curated flower gardens and stone statues, you could barely imagine that you are down in the hustle and bustle of the Strip. The interior is stunning! As an Irish Catholic Church, the heritage and legacy of those immigrants is easily seen inside with the paintings and displays. With some more modern upgrades like the stained glass windows, it is nice to see that recent generations are continuing the preservation and love for this church. What a wonderful piece of Pittsburgh history and heritage!

You definitely won't find that anywhere else in the Diocese (or maybe even in the area as a whole). I learned about the Oratory when I moved from Buffalo and was unpleasantly surprised that there are so few options for perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in this area. Where I lived in the Buffalo area, we had three chapels within a 15 minute (or so) drive. I didn't realize how spoiled I was. I fist visited for Adoration. During daylight hours, the chapel is open to everyone. For the later evening and overnight hours, you need to know a code or be a registered Adorer. I like that there is a sense of security so if you do have a late night prayer time, you can feel a sense of security. The chapel itself is pretty small. Every Mass I've been there for was literal standing room only (and often even spills out into the hallway). But the chapel is packed with beauty. The priests that celebrate Mass are reverent with meaningful and impactful homilies. They are also very compassionate and friendly. The Oratory has a small parking lot at the side of the building, but there is also generally street parking available as well. I definitely recommend attending Mass or Adoration here.

The priest were extremely personable once I talked to them. I started off going to their masses late and leaving early, but by the end of college I couldn't keep away from the chapel. Very conducive environment for learning about faith while there are a fair amount of chill people that are involved there. I have since explored other newman centers and find this one to be one of the best. Bombtastic priests that always have adoration going on equals a knock out combo for doing well in school (constant prayer: Lord I have no idea what I am doing please be with me during his test). Getcha some of this newman center and you won't regret it (warning: some of the students can be off putting at first, but there are a bunch more that are normal and it took a couple visits to fully understand that)

The church has a strong mission of helping the local neighborhood, especially in the very practical way giving food through the food pantry. They also do a lot of social justice work. The members are super friendly and they are great for prayer circles after service if you need a prayer. We've made them our church away from home, so we will definitely be back next summer!

Grand, historic landmark, founded in 1888. Its recently restored stained glass windows are a must…read moresee. Truly a fascinating accomplishment by all involved with this on-going restoration. Thanks to a recently held concert performance, I was introduced to a small sampling of what this congregation offers to the community. Besides the on-going concert series, they have a clothing ministry, monthly dollar breakfasts, a place for various groups to meet, and so much more takes place to provide support towards the needs of others. In today's climate of dwindling church membership, it is key to find other ways to stay active outside of the weekly church service. Central Presbyterian is doing a fine job with this challenge.
