As a member of a family who has remained in Decatur since the late 1800s, we have countless loved ones residing in Graceland/Fairlawn. I can assure you, that has all stopped with my generation. The lack of respect, concern, or even tact displayed by your staff, as well as is clearly evident by the condition of your grounds, is just grossly negligent. When planning one's post life services, you would think it obvious to not hire individuals who You wouldn't trust to take a fast food order, let alone extremely delicate financial information. When visiting the location in November to clean around my family plots, which are constantly buried in nothing but weeds considering you have no actual grass growing anywhere in sight, I came across a younger female, I'm assuming employee considering she was outside one of the smaller side buildings smoking by a red, large truck, and all you could smell was marijuana in the air. Unbelievable. Pure disappointment rings through mind. That young woman was just a prime example of what you have let this facility become. Decatur's founders would be ashamed of the slum they remain in, Fairlawn a forgotten patch in the ghetto. With its trash filled well and crumbling mausoleum. With your ever increasing prices, you'd think you'd at least try to keep the grounds at the same level of integrity. Not charging more for a crumbling wasteland ran by condescending old men, tactless women, and a handful of employees that I remain thankful for, and hope to see move to brighter futures and out of the weed patches being sold as cemeteries. There's no sense of pride left, and that's just outright disrespecting those that meticulously planned and paid to reside with you in the past. read more

~Today (June 11, 2016) I attended my beloved Aunt Sheri Diane's visitation and funeral. Just as I took my seat I was rudely approached by a Graceland-Fairlawn employee named Ron Price. He loudly demanded to speak with me so I followed him to the back of the room. He proceeded to inform me that my Aunt's son had asked him to escort me out and that I would be an issue. This employee stood there accusingly asking if I was going to be a problem and he did all this while family members looked on. What this man didn't realize is that my Aunt's son is simply a bitter vindictive person and had no validation in his request to have me leave. His mother and I were extremely close and she considered me to be like a daughter to her. She would have been sick if she had seen this happen today at her funeral of all places. I managed to keep my composure and respond that of course I would not cause any problems. The employee Ron Price stood there for another moment as if to drag this embarrassing scene out as long as he possibly could and told me he will let me stay but I better not cause any issues AND he forced me to sit all the way in the back by the door. So after spending all week crying over losing my Aunt I am then treated like garbage at her funeral when I was one of the people who was the closest to her. When my family heard how he treated me they called and confronted this man and he replied by saying "thank you for calling" and hung up. I will be pursuing this further on Monday morning and will never ever use this funeral home's service~ read more

I would like to spend a few minutes to say thank you to Daisy and the Staff at Graceland Fairlawn. In the beginning of February our father passed away and no one in our family had any experience with making these kind of arrangements. Our first call was to Graceland Fairlawn. My brothers and I met with Daisy and her team and immediately knew we came to the right place. The staff was very understanding of our situation and with Daisy's help guided us through creating a beautiful service for our father. I want to thank everyone at Graceland Fairlawn for their patience as we navigated through the process. We could not be any more pleased level of service we received. In April of this year our mother passed away and her wishes were to use Moran and Goebel. I made the call to make the arrangements and found out that Graceland & Fairlawn And Moran & Goebel are part of the same group. My brothers and I requested to work with Daisy and her team again as we felt like Daisy was now a part of our family. Daisy and her team out did themselves with the service for our mother, everything was perfect. Tiffany Wilkerson and Graceland Fairlawn did an outstanding job coordinating everything from the pre-planning through the post funeral processes. Our extremely positive experience, during the difficult time of losing our mother and father within one year, was due to the hard work, professional attitude, compassion, and dedication to detail of Tiffany Wilkerson. I am sure all of our family members were a real challenge to her during the processes, but she always kept things on track, responded to emotions and comments gracefully. When I had questions or needed something, Tiffany followed up with me to resolve my request appropriately and in a timely manner. I would recommend Tiffany to everyone. When the death of a loved one touches your family, decisions can't wait, arrangements can't be put off. I called Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in October, 2014 and again in December, 2016. Daisy Kelley assisted us the first time and did such an amazing job of making us feel comfortable that I requested her again in 2016. At Graceland/Fairlawn we were treated with respect, compassion and understanding by everyone we came into contact with. They were professional and the facility was very nice and clean. I especially appreciated that Graceland/Fairlawn let us personalize the service and set-up based on our personal preferences. I highly recommend the services of Graceland/Fairlawn and, in fact, I plan to return soon to pre-plan my own arrangements. read more

My husband, our family,& myself met with Chelsea Wilkerson during the planning of my mother in laws funeral & afterwards to discuss burial plots for the family. We felt really comfortable in her presence. It was as if we'd known her all of our lives. She was very kind, sympathetic, & seemed to know somehow just the right words to say. While we were discussing future burial plot plans, she was very informative, discussed everything detail by detail, & also did the math for us in regards to the cost. Our family met with Graceland Fairlawn after the loss of my wife. We were very impressed with the service and guidance we were given. A lot of important and unexpected decisions need to be made quickly but we didn't feel rushed or pressured. We were personally assisted by Tiffany Wilkerson who is very accommodating and has a heart of gold. She never hesitates to make time in her busy schedule to answer our questions or to meet with us. I met with Shannon Tarter at Graceland Fairlawn about some plots for my 3 dogs to be placed in their Pet Cemitary when the time comes. She helped me get them set up without any problem. She helped me set up the Head Stones and arrangements for Cremation. when all was said and done I had everything set for not only my Pets but for myself as well.
