We had an occasion to visit Sebring this weekend and found this wonderful church on Google. I…read morethought the building was brand-new, it was so well-maintained. A great spacious interior, and a wonderful choir greeted us when we sat. Friendly greeters at the doors shook everyone's hand, and I was directed to the hat rack in the vestibule for my fedora. The atrium was packed, because this was Mother's Day, but from the people here I imagine this church has a large regular attendance. What a wonderful and warm experience!

Father Jose is experienced yet, so humble. He is from Spain and has worked in Mexico, Rome and the United States. He is friendly and helpful. St. Catherine of Siena has a school Pre-K-8th and there are also additional programs offered to teens and high school kids, adult females and adult males in the area. We are very fortunate to have Father Jose.

I'll start with the positive: the biggest pro was the housing accommodations, at least in the building I was in. This has the best bathroom:camper ratio of any church camp I've been to, which is awesome. It also just felt cleaner. -The dining experience was a massive negative. First of all, there wasn't near enough seating. Our group was there as well as a few others. Many many people ended up sitting on the floor with their food. Maybe they overbooked, but I would hope a facility like this would do a better job of knowing the number of guests their facilities can handle. The food was also horrible, except for maybe a couple of meals, and we were there for a week. It was so bad that many of our kids chose to just eat rolls for most meals. One of our meals was pizza rolls burnt to a crisp. One was a bunch of different shapes pasta thrown together with no sauce to where it seemed like it was leftovers. One was chicken with no seasoning and strawberries on top. I know feeding this number of people is hard, but this felt ridiculous. -the slide with the inner tubes is a good idea, but not safely executed. The landing pool isn't near long enough. Myself and a few kids flew past it, hitting a concrete bump. My tailbone hurt so bad and I had a headache from the whiplash that I didn't do it a second time. -the bug situation was out of control. One of our boys' cabins got so infested that they ended up sleeping in the chapel one night. There were times when the white doors were so solidly covered in bugs that you'd think they were black doors. Outdoor activities were extremely hard because of the bugs. I know this is nature and hard to control, but I feel like they could put some sort of pest control or lawn treatment to mitigate as much as possible. Finally, our church prides itself on being diverse. Our kids experienced blatant racism from the employees on multiple occasions, despite their good behavior.

From the planning, to the facilities, the food and best of all-the staff. Cindy, Candy, Nancy, and everyone in the kitchen serve with a smile on their face. The facilities, were wonderful! Very clean compared to many camps we have been to. The bunk beds were very squeaky, but it is camp after all, perhaps a little tightening and oil would help :) our students loved it and we are looking forward to coming back!!!
