This is great if, like me, you tend to leave picking up prescriptions till the very last minute. Other good points are that it's bright and clean and has a fairly good selection of over-the-counted medicines. Now for the not so positive points. It has an extremely limited stock of the none-medicine products that you would normally expect to find in a pharmacy. You won't be picking up any shampoo or lipstick on an impulse here - because they don't really sell any. Plus, the Houlihan pharmacy is pretty faceless - and you probably won't find any personalised or friendly service there. In fact, I don't think the woman behind the counter even said a single word to me when I handed over my prescription. She kind of held her hand out and then flounced away with it without even giving me a second glance. In short, I will be going back to some of the much nicer chemists up the road next time.

It does pretty much what it says on the tin - and provides the people of Partick with a great place to pick up their prescriptions. The staff are friendly, and even provide a prescription collection service. The atmosphere in this place is really nice, and you'll normally find a couple of old boys taking up the waiting area having a chat while they wait for their prescriptions. As well as the general pharmacy services, you'll also find a nice selection of health and beauty items such as hair care products and a bit of make-up.

I would normally pick up painkillers from the nearby Tesco or Co-Op but was in need of something a bit more substantial last week and picked up some over the counter medicine in here that sorted me out. But this means their waiting time is usually a lot less than the chemist across the road near the Kenilworth avanue junction. The pharmacist has good knowledge on common conditions like coeliac, diabetes, pain relief etc,. I now use this chemist routinely and have no issues in recommending them.

To be honest, although Boots does offer a good service - I always get my prescriptions from independent places such as Gilbrides. They're usually a lot less busy, which means that instead of waiting an hour for your prescription a la Boots - they'll usually have it ready for you in five minutes while you wait. And you know what? Gilbrides is no exception to this rule. It's a cosy little chemist on Hyndland Road, less than a stones' throw from the Tesco Express on Dumbarton Road. The staff are friendly, and their shelves are stuffed full with almost anything you could possibly want to buy from a chemist. Plus, it's inexpensive and handy for both the Kelvinhall Subway station and the nearby Abingdon Medical Centre.

I also bought a couple of soft toothbrushes - which aren't found everywhere so I was pleased with that too. Other than that, there's not much more to say - it's a small pharmacy, and they are very much all quite similar. I didn't look about much, but it seemed to have the sort of products you'd expect from a small pharmacy. I'd definitely visit again, as I was really pleased with the speed of service.

A small local pharmacy for those located in the Whiteinch/Scotstoun areas of Glasgow. It's not a…read morebig store but it's bright and clean and well laid out with all the basics you'd require from a pharmacy. I recently visited to have a prescription filled after being at the doctors and was impressed with the polite efficiency of the staff (much appreciated when feeling under the weather!) They quickly checked through my slip to make sure everything was in order before handing it over to the pharmacist to have it filled. While waiting I have a quick browse around the shop and noted they have all the regular cold and flu remedies, first aid supplies, creams and ointments etc. As well as a decent range of cosmetics. It was good to see such a well stocked local shop. Thankfully my prescription was ready super fast (only a few minutes) and I was also able to pick up an item that had been ordered in for my Mum. Over all a great example of speedy customer service, which is definitely what you need when you're dying to crawl back into bed!
