We had a wonderful dinner, with very personal and attentive service. The wine selection was reasonably priced, and we had Caesar salad prepared at our table. The pasta dishes were not only plentiful, but the pastas were handmade. The service was very friendly and personal. This restaurant is under new ownership, and they have re-hired the former chef (the one everyone loved) back to redesign the menu and to serve up some wonderful Italian meals. On Tuesday, May 17th I made a reservation for Friday May 20th at 7:15 pm for my birthday thru Open Table. I received the email from Open Table confirming my reservation. We arrived at Gennaro's around 7 and there was a handwritten sign on the door that said "Closed until further notice." How disappointing and frustrating. I do not understand how I was not contacted to be informed that my reservation could not be honored. Regardless of circumstances, an automated message would have been appreciated. We enjoyed this restaurant on Valentine's Day. We had a delicious meal (chicken Scallopine and Grilled Salmon). There was a piano player who was excellent. The restaurant is decorated very nicely. The only complaint I had was that our waiter did not come back to ask us if we wanted dessert for more than 10 minutes after we had finished our plates. Group of ten 6;30 Tues night. Place was EMPTY throughout the evening until one other small group arrived. Greeted warmly -- wine list was lacking and several times choices were "we're all out" -- appetizers were passable - bruschetta too oily and bread was stiff, calamari tasty, prosciutto a little spicy but melon and sauce was interesting. I had a reservation here for 9:00 PM and the place was closed when we got there. On the website it says they're open until 10:00 PM. We called the restaurant and someone answered telling us they closed because they didn't have any record of our reservation, even though I have an email confirming my 9:00 PM reservation at this address. So it's a small establishment with cute decor and it's quiet. I had the seafood dish which was tasty with shrimp, scallops, salmon, and I also had a calamari appetizer.There was a pianist playing some romantic music and I like it when the waiter seats you ,he unfolds your napkin and places it on your lap. Had one of the worst valentines days dinner ever at this place . First off , the staff had no experience in waiting at all. Very unprofessional. They brought out the wrong wine. The water smelled like sewer water. Their fettuccine Alfredo is the worst I've ever had. The place is creepy as it lacks windows. It looks like it should be a night club instead of an Italian restaurant, with its neon lights, super white walls and mirrors. It's as cold as an ice chest in there. We wanted someplace near our hotel and saw all the good reviews on yelp. Service was excellent. The young lady playing the piano is very talented. Slight disappointment on the salads as the tomatoes were nowhere near ripe, but considering they are still out of season...can't really fault too much. I had the peppardelle, husband had the ravioli di pollo, son had the penne, daughter had snapper. I have to say that the snapper was not filleted properly and she doughty with bones throughout. We enjoyed the mocha cake very much as well. Would visit again if in the area. read more

I don't even know how to start my review of this place. We stumbled upon it one evening when Mori Teppan was closed. I had noticed this restaurant while out running one morning and it was right around the corner, so we thought we'd give it a shot. Bad idea! First, we walk in and all the lights are off and there's not one other person in sight. We are on our way back out the door when a woman comes running out from the back and says they are open. We ordered a table side caesar salad, but clearly the staff here (all one waitress and a "chef") don't understand that tableside means it is made in our view. The place was completely silent the entire time except for someone in the back watching TV. The whole experience was just bizarre and the food mediocre at best. The waitress didn't even know what Tito's was. Seriously, such a bad experience. I would never come back to this place, nor would I recommend to anyone else. read more

It was Valentine's Day so maybe the staff was a little rushed. They were taking reservations every hour but it took us 1 hour 40 minutes. Luckily we did not have further plans that evening. The waitress was very nice but seemed somewhat frazzled. We had been waiting quite some time for our dinner when she approached us and asked if we were ready for dessert!! She was very embarrassed when she realized we hadn't even eaten yet and graciously comped me a glass of wine. The food was satisfying but not outstanding. We enjoyed the ambiance and the soft piano background. We'll probably go back again sometime but I doubt if will become one of our regular nights out. read more

Some things I really loved: 1) The place was elegant and had a great ambiance. 2) There was someone playing piano beautifully. 3) They served a number of breads to try. 4) We were two people and we shared one salad, one soup and the osso bucco. They brought us each one salad and one soup (even though we only paid for one of each). The osso bucco was amazing. It was very tender and tasty. 5) They were willing to make changes to any dishes (such as no alcohol in the sauce). 6) They gave us a complimentary small slice of cake for dessert. Enjoy! read more

I really enjoyed Gennaro's the last time I came, and I was wandering around the area so decided to come back. I got the special pasta dish of the day - seafood with spaghetti. The flavor was good and the spaghetti was cooked al dente. I wasn't impressed with the seafood though. The shrimp was overcooked and the fish and mussels were also slightly overcooked. The calamari had good texture. I would still come back to get the spinach gnocchi or maybe try other things, and the service was still good and the ambiance cute. read more

STAY AWAY! First the girl who answered the phone answered the phone, "Hello" which I thought was strange for a restaurant. Second, it took 30 min for the food to arrive and there was no one else in the restaurant! Third, my aunt had ordered eggplant pasta and when her dish arrived there was no eggplant! When the dish was returned the waitress said the cook had run out of eggplant and substituted zucchini instead. Really??? That would've been nice to know beforehand. My aunt did not see any zucchini and asked to switch her order to sausage penne. The sausage was not cooked all the way thru and the dish was returned a third time. By this time we had all lost our appetite and we were not given a bill. The owner came out and apologized and said he had been having problems with the cook. Perhaps he should've fired the cook after the first problem instead of letting it get this far. I would not recommend to anyone. read more

When we went, they had a pianist for entertainment and he was great! There was only one other couple in the restaurant besides us. Food was ok. Dessert was a letdown. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner here about a month ago and it honestly was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life! We had arranged to have our rehearsal dinner here because our in-laws thought the place was super cute (i agreed at the time). We talked to the owner and planned all the details and menu for the special occasion. We even confirmed the table set up and the number of servers that he would have on hand for the day since the service was very, very slow on the day we went to discuss details. Anyway, on the day of the rehearsal dinner, we showed up with 40 people and he only had one server and had arranged the room in a way that made no sense for our gathering. He had said yes while booking but had not listened to any of our requests. He also tried to serve us a "salad" which was basically a few green leaves on the plate. It tasted terrible and more importantly, we had NOT ordered it as part of the package. He served it and charged us $7 per person for something we didn't order. The dinner was horrible and bland. He argued with us when we ordered additional items and overall just made the whole night a very sad and combative affair. I don't know how people give this place any stars, I don't know how they stay in business. If it hadn't been close to the hotel we were staying, I would have never, ever picked this horrible place and i would never give the curmudgeon owner our business. I hated the food, hated the place and hated everything about this place. Don't eat here! read more

My fiance and I went the night after Valentine's Day and it was very dull. The decor is depressing. It felt like a place for retirees. As we entered, the bartender was behind the bar(an empty one) making a drink. It turned out he was the server and host as well. Good thing they had a busser. Soprano sax, Kenny G type music played while we waited for the server to take us to our table. There were only two other tables that were occupied. The atmosphere was dead. Every table was whispering. It was very awkward. And it was 730pm. When the server finally gave us our menus he noticed that we had a restaurant.com gift certificate. He said the new management no longer accepts it. Shouldn't that have been something to notify restaurant.com so they can notify me? The server acted as if we should leave, but we decided to stay. The server did not make very good recommendations. He only had two other tables, but since there was no host or bartender, he didn't pay much attention to us. When our food arrived, a piano player tried to create some atmosphere. It was too late. Kenny G music had already killed it. Food wasn't very good for price. Bleh. That is all I have to say. Bleh. I hope more people go to this place on the weekend. Weekday nights suck! read more
