In the room, bathroom has both a shower stall and a tub. There was also a bidet as well! The concierge was lovely and extremely friendly and helpful with our sight-seeing planning. The Metro was only about 5 minutes walking away from the hotel. They also arranged cabs whenever my friend and I needed this and they always came within minutes. I did not order room service etc so I can't rate the hotel's full provisions. However, it was beautiful and twas a wonderful stay!

We had taken 2 taxis in Barcelona, 1 ripped us off with extra charges. So when going to the…read moreairport, I asked the front desk woman about the charges and she assured me she'd call a taxi who added no more than 2 euro. (I get there are some extra charges in Barcelona, I just didn't want to pay more than I should.) She looked me in the eye and assured me it would be 2 euro max. Everyone knows that hotel staff get a kickback or some benefit from the taxi drivers they send business to, which I'm fine with-as long as I didn't pay more than I would have for a taxi that I could have gotten on my own. Well 2 blocks into the ride we are at 4 euro (see the picture) and by the end we are at 7 euro in extra fees. 5 euro could be accounted for, but not 7. The difference between the 5 and 7 must have been her cut. 2 euro is not the point; the point is this woman on staff is dishonest and had no issue looking me straight in the eye and lying to my face. Hotel review: the place is basic but not terrible. Though there is a loud noise (I assume from the elevator) that can be heard at all hours of the day/night. Most of the staff was very nice, but not the liar. NOTE: I expect the hotel to reply saying these were normal charges added to the taxi. So let me be very clear: she PROMISED me the extra charges would only be $2 max. It was a Monday morning/relatively quiet so we weren't paying extra because of peak hours, etc. Also note I mentioned only 1 taxi had ripped me off. The taxi who didn't added no extra charges, even though we took it during a busy Sunday afternoon. That's how I know for a fact that the taxi the woman called jacked up the fairs. I want to make this very clear because I fully expect the hotel to reply to this tread saying I'm not aware of how Barcelona taxis work, etc. They'll only be trying to save face because they employ dishonest staff. If your staff is dishonest, there's a good chance the management is too. When I come to Barcelona next I will steer clear of Sansi.

Each of the five floor has a little sitting, lounge area. The chairs are leather or an old world fabric and each chair could definitely tell a story or two. The first floor has a larger sitting area that could be s meeting point for about 20 people. The area is surrounded by classic paintings. The dining area for breakfast is large yet cosy. There is outside seating for when it is warmer in the courtyard. The breakfast is beyond a three star hotel! Noise of a night can be a problem if you have a room facing the street.

The location is truly unbeatable - just a block away from Plaça de Catalunya, a couple of blocks from a major metro stop and several main bus lines, a few blocks from great shopping and with good casual food scattered throughout. It's a great central spot for sightseeing where you're primarily relying on public transit, but also quiet and safe if traveling solo. I booked a signature room through my travel agent, and was delighted that they allowed me to check in a couple of hours early AND upgraded me to a signature balcony room. The hotel is very cute snd colorful, with modern design. The room was clean and pretty spacious, and the balcony was such a nice touch! I liked opening the windows every afternoon and sitting on the chaise and reading. There are refillable water stations on each floor by the elevator, which was a small but big perk to me. Awesome water pressure and temperature, kind, attentive service by staff, and incredible rooftop bar made this a fun place to kick off my stay in Spain. Small gripes: As a short person was the bathroom tub was a bit tall for me to climb into and out of. There was not a true fridge/freezer in the room; the staff was kind enough to store something in their freezer for me but it felt too out of my way to ask them to do it too often for me. The lobby bar drinks were fine but nothing to write home about. Overall though this is such a great hotel and I'd absolutely stay here again. It feels luxe but had very reasonable rates, even right after Easter which is peak tourism. The rooftop bar is very much worth a visit, beautiful views of the city and a fun, lively vibe. I cannot recommend this hotel more!

Subur is an older tourist class hotel with small rooms, but I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room and an updated bathroom. My room had a balcony with a small table and 2 chairs with partial sea view. I kept the balcony doors open for sea breezes and never used the A/C. The mini fridge was convenient. The hotel is on the corner of Passiag de La Ribera and C/ de la Bassa-Rodona, so many rooms with balconies face the beach and sea directly across the Malecon. The front staff are friendly and accommodating. Huge beautiful beach towels rent for 2,50€. If you don't return it they charge 5€ (which I actually thought might be worth keeping, but I didn't want to add to my luggage haha). The hotel restaurant is Sitges Sports Bar and didn't look like anything special with burger types and salads. The breakfast buffet also didn't look all that great for the € so I skipped it. I prefer a hotel with a pool, but if staying on my own and headed to the beach anyway, I'd probably come back to Hotel Subur. A pretty good value.

The room was quite large, with 2 large, single beds, a desk, a small fridge, drawers and hanging space for my clothes and a safe. The bathroom was small and only had a (powerful) shower, but for most people this will be fine. The room's air con was good, but even in mid-August, it wasn't needed. There's no view from the room's window, it looks in a light well, but it's bright enough. The room was extremely clean, the bed linen was good quality and it was very quiet. The location is very central to the main bars and restaurants, but as the room didn't look out on to the street, there was no noise. Check in was quick and efficient. The hotel is partly above a sports bar, but it doesn't stay open late so noise wasn't an issue. This bar / restaurant is also the hotel's breakfast area. It served the usual mixture of croissants, juices, cereals, eggs, bacon, ham, cheese and small cakes, all good quality and fresh. The hotel is around a 10 minute walk to the train station, there are lots of bars and restaurants within 2 or 3 minutes and you can be on the beach in less than a minute of leaving the property. The reception area feels modern and looks smart, the corridors leading to the rooms don't look and feel quite so smart but will be fine for most people. All staff were helpful and cheerful. I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.

When we got here we did not expect a rather modern hotel to be built at that corner. This hotel surprised us because we intend to find Airbnb-ish places to stay to get a feel of the local vibe. Our room was huge and it's the end unit on a upper floor. However we did not regret and we enjoyed the comfort and amenities of this hotel. It's in the diagonal district of Barcelona and it's a great location yet quiet enough for a good night sleep. The commercial parts of the Barcelona can REALLY keep you up at night.

Con's: * Not centrally located but wasn't too bothered by that since there is public transport and a hop-on hop-off bus stop nearby. * Difficult to get taxi's on weekend nights to get into the city (but might be something everywhere in Barcelona) * Feels a bit outdated, quite basic, not much luxury * Pool and gym at the hotel across the street and limited opening hours (gym only opens at 9?!?) * Expensive if you don't book well in advance. I stayed with three friends in June 2022 and had a pretty good experience here, we initially only booked 2 rooms (about 8 weeks in advance) and added a third one much later at almost double the price. 4 stars if you pay the early price, 3 if you pay the premium.
