This hotel is definitely worth a stay for the following reasons:…read more1. Pricewise: its good value. You get a top class hotel without having to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
2. Location: it located slap bang on the major square in Càceras. You walk out the front door and there are restaurants to your right and left. You face the old city gates, the entry point to the ciudad. Worth noting that only a few rooms actually have windows that face the square as the hotel has a very small street frontage. Just in case you were hoping to look out over the square from your hotel room while having your morning coffee ;) Maybe worth asking if there is any price difference for these rooms ....
3. Quality: It certainly is a well finished hotel, and whilst it may not rank in five star status, it has all the required fetaures and mod cons you require. Whilst is didn't try the restaurant (due to proximity of amazing food in the town) i did notice that it had received some Michelin recommedations so can only imagine the restaurant is of equally decent quality.
I thought the reception could have been a little friendlier (i.e. smile once in a while) but that was single person, and didn't detract from the rest of the experience. Its just funny how far a smile and friendly hello goes to make your day and a hotel feel like home.
Only possible drawback was that the sound insulation from the room to the hallway wasn't the best, as I could hear everything that was happening in there. Having said that; i have been in hotels where I can hear into other rooms and this wasn't the case.
Worth also checking out your timing. Once a year, the WOMAD music festival is held in Càceras, with the main stage located directly in the main square. This was no issue for me as it was exactly the reason I was visiting the city. But if not, you won't get any sleep before 2am for the two nights it is happening .....
