Attended the Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy event. The event itself contained superb acting. The four alcoholic and mocktails served designed specifically for the event were PHENOMENAL! I'm not a huge drinker or one for that matter, but since the event was expensive, I went for the alcohol version. It did not disappoint! There was a peppercorn drink, and some fruity drinks and one with espresso beans and they were soo tasty and yummy!! Sound and lighting were perfect if you utilize it for your event. I wouldn't say the event place itself is bad. It's just outdated. It's very much stuck in the 90's era. It was the place back in the day! But they are doing something right because they have been around since the 80's! However, I will say it's very clean inside and the ballroom large, dependent which ballroom you're in. I don't think I noticed a ramp to enter the ballroom. There are a few steps down, a plateau then another few high steps into the ballroom it was held. They had staff shine a flashlight on the steps and verbally inform us to watch our step. The bathrooms were clean with plenty of stalls and I noticed a baby changing station available. I do wish they did renovations to their parking lot because it looks rough. Don't fret, if you don't see parking out front or the sides of the venue. I was not aware they had ample parking in the back. If you drive to the left of their building and turn left at the fence there are plenty of spaces, but the lot itself could benefit from some attention. read more

I attended this venue last month for a wedding. The wedding for about 100 people. The ceremony took place in one room and immediately after we moved to one of the ballrooms for the reception. Everything was set up from start to finish executed very well I'm not sure if the caterer was someone working at Grand Affairs but the food was pretty good. I did notice the ladies there walking around making sure that things were in order throughout the wedding which was refreshing to see and being a guest there it looks like no hiccups were made. Plenty of parking. The restrooms were tidy. I think this is a lovely venue to use for an event. Have fun and enjoy life read more

We took our friend to The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy: Chapter 2 event here for her birthday. It was so classically eerie yet beautifully crafted by the performers, who are outstandingly talented! I believe they hail from LA, not surprisingly, and they delivered such a unique and gripping performance!! The place was designed to represent the 1800s of Poe's era mixed with Gothic style, while the lighting set the mood for an evening of haunting drama and exquisite elixirs! My friends received 4 different cocktails tailored to each Poem by Poe to reflect the theme of each! I chose the Mocktails, which were equally as delicious!! Renditions of The Pit & the Pendulum were paired with the Swing of Fate cocktail, The Cask of Amontillado paired with Montresor's Revenge, Annabel Lee paired with the Lover's Lament, & The Fall of the House of Usher paired with Roderick's Ruin! Such a remarkable and refreshing experience that taunted our imagination and tempted our taste buds!! Highly recommend this event for anyone interested in trying unique experiences for any celebration or any other reasons but for the sake of imagery mixed with emotion and complex cocktails!! read more

Recently held a Night Before party for our carrier's FRG here and it was perfect! From beginning to end Joe was phenomenal to work with and was more than willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were happy with our event. I especially appreciated how quickly he would respond, and how patient he was in answering all our questions. The event itself went off without a hitch and the whole staff did a great job of making sure all our needs were taken care of. We had an incredible experience here. We chose Grand Affairs initially because of the staff and because they have a chapel in the same building. Jaki was our event coordinator and she managed to give us all the things we hoped for and then some! They have many colors to chose from for tablecloths, overlays, and napkins. Our daughter was thrilled with the decor. They accommodated our desire for a candy bar and allowed to make a photo corner. We chose a sit down meal and it was a hit. The chicken marsala, green beans, and mashed potatoes, were loved by all. We also had a last minute emergency with our cake and they recommended a wonderful bakery (Bliss Bakery) who take care of us in less than a week. We were allowed to bring in our own DJ and our guests danced the night away! Thank you Grand Affairs for making our daughters wedding a night she and her husband will never forget. read more

Meh. The venue feels like an express wedding venue. 1 ceremony room and 3 banquet rooms all encompassed on a small hallway meaning that the ceremony room is used back to back to back. It made the bride and groom feel rushed to have to evacuate so quickly for the next bride. Following the ceremony, the reception also made us very aware that we were one of many as our neighbor's DJ got going while my uncle said a prayer. The staff was polite enough to ask them to turn their music down a bit, which resolved the sound issue. The bride and groom selected a buffet for their meal - serving a baked ziti (the sauce was compared to tomato paste by a fellow attendee), roast beef (basically thick sliced roast beef lunch meat covered in gravy, which is standard for banquet facilities), and chicken portions (I was not a fan but someone at my table was really impressed), caesar salad, vegetables, and oven roasted potatoes. I will say no one went hungry, but other than the one lady at my table who liked the chicken, I didn't hear anything amazing. Just meh. Now I'm going to get a little nit picky. Had the rest of the experience been amazing these wouldn't be deal breakers. They are just a couple more things that made my experience meh. First of all, the cash bar had all their prices ending in change, so every time you purchased a drink you were left with quarters. A little obnoxious. Could they not round their drink prices to a round dollar? Secondly, they have a changing table in the ladies room, but it's stuck in a corner, doesn't fold down properly and basically feels like you are being punished for bringing a child to their facility. Overall, I had a good time at the wedding, but I credit the wedding party and not the venue. I think we would have had a blast in my back yard. I had my wedding here in April, and I can say that it was everything that I had ever dreamed and then some, all thanks to Jaki and the Grand Affairs team! All throughout the entire year prior to the big day, Jaki was always there for me to be able to call on. She was so caring and understanding during my times of stress, and bubbly and energetic during my times of excitement. Such an outstanding woman and I couldnt have asked for a better person in helping with organizing my wedding ceremony and reception. My husband and I decided to use Grand Affairs venue after visiting once for a retirement party. We had immediately fallen in love with the place. The staff worked hard and was super kind and courteous to us and our guests. We used all three of their ballrooms due to having a larger guest count, and they all were so elegantly arranged and decorated. It truly was like something out of a fairytale. By the end of the night, my guests, family, and new husband could all agree that this was definitely an experience of a lifetime! I will suggest it to any and everyone that comes my way. My experience with Grand Affairs was absolutely wonderful. The woman I worked with for weeks in advance, Jaki, was incredibly helpful with helping plan the evening, and she was completely transparent in terms of cost, time frame, and general expectations for the experience. I've seen a few reviews that touch on the simplicity of booking an event with Grand Affairs, and I must agree. Planning the event was stress free, mostly due to how helpful Jaki was. Our event was for a group of college students and our dates, and some venues were apprehensive about hosting a crowd that has a reputation for mischief. However, Grand Affairs was happy to work with us. We had a band at our event, and the room we used was the perfect size. I haven't even mentioned the food offerings yet- I would highly recommend the fried mac and cheese. All of the food was presented elegantly, which contributed to the overall formal atmosphere. It seems that anyone with a negative review of such a wonderful establishment tends to base their experience on the amount of guests that show up to their event. I can't begin to understand how party attendance reflects on Grand Affairs' role in planning an event. If a client's guests are responsible about showing up on time and respecting the rational policies set by Grand Affairs, my experience suggests that Grand Affairs will take care of everything else. We had our wedding and reception with this facility. What an amazing and awesome experience. If you're trying to find a place to get married with a modest budget and low hassle, look no further. After pricing many different locations, we settled on this because of the sheer simplicity and cost. How it works: 1. You tell them how many people you are having and choose a dinner option. They have tons of options from buffets to catering and are exceptionally flexible regarding those annoying yes/no's you get from people as you get closer to the deadline. 2. From there the cost of the food is all you pay for (which is disclosed openly while you browse your options - kind of like a menu of menus). The setup, insurances, licenses, etc are all handled from their facility. 3. If you have special needs or "things" they are all done ala carte at reasonable prices. We wanted a chocolate fondue station, section for a photo booth, riser table for us, and tables for presents, pictures, etc. All easily done and most of it was actually included. 4. They do all the decorating, set ups, and tear downs. You choose the colors and any specifics and they get it done. If you have any real special things (party favors, center pieces, etc.) you give them all you want put on the tables the week of the event and explain to them how you want it arranged. They do it all!! Important facts: - Drinks... They have 3 options. Option 1 is full open bar - cost on top of dinner per head. Option 2. is mixer bar - they supply most general mixers (orange juice, soda, etc.) and you supply the alcohol. They even give you a sheet of general amount of alcohol required for your party. We did this option and picked up most of our alcohol from the base (very fortunate in this case) Option 3. is boring... no alcohol (j/k... sorta) -The wedding itself. They have 3 options here too. Option 1 - wedding on the beach. The wedding on the beach is held over at First Landing at a VERY, VERY reasonable cost and just like the facility, is a "show up and leave" deal. We arrived at the expected time and all the chairs, decoration, and music was all set to go for us. Option 2 - wedding chapel in the facility - is generally either chosen as the backup plan to 1 if it rains or if you would like a traditional wedding. Option 3 - They can setup the wedding stuff (archway etc) inside the reception hall if needed. Things to expect to pay outside of the facility: 1. DJ 2. Photographer 3. Cake/cupcake - we did cupcakes but they had some astounding recommendations regarding bakers, etc. If you have these 3 things listed and this facility you could literally be done. It really is that simple. If you're getting married, I'd highly suggest this place as it can get really, really, easy to forget things. With this solution you can take the guesswork out of LOTS of the stresses of planning. We had Helena Zito and she was very, very helpful in getting us everything we needed to make the event happen. She even accommodated our multitude of emails, calls, and requests for appointments. Nicole was the epitome of a well-qualified, efficient and caring "ring leader" and if it wasn't for her we would've likely tripped over our own feet. Before COVID, we started planning our wedding with Grand Affairs. Taking into account the constant and unforeseen changes that COVID played, we continued to be understand. We found that the communication during COVID was extremely lack. I sent monthly email asking if my wedding date was changing and that was the only reason I received any updates. 3 weeks before my scheduled wedding date, I was told that I had to either change my date or reduce the count. We understood that this was due to the Governor's mandate however, if given this choice during the updates, it would have made that process a lot easier. We ended up reaching out to the owner who decided to give us a new person to work with and give a complementary fruit and chocolate station for out cocktail hour. He assured us the communication would be better and we trusted him for that. Our new rep was a true pleasure to work with. As you can probably, we of course moved our date back (from June to August). A month before our new date, the Governor move the restrictions back. I immediately contacted the owner and was assure that Grand Affairs fell under a restaurant code which did not limit our wedding to 50 people. This was a true relief. Less than 10 days before our new date, I received an email that said we had to talk out our guest list since the mandate hadn't change. As you can imagine, yes I was confused. I quick called my rep and she explained to me that I have to lower my count to 50 people. I then asked to speak to the owner as he previously gave me different information. He then told me that he information he was given was changed but, we were NEVER notified of this. This left us cutting out guess list in half a week before our wedding. While at our wedding rehearsal, less than 24 hours before our wedding, we were inform that our entire bridal party was required to wear a mask during the ceremony which of course left out bridal team scrambling to find matching mask at the last minute. On my wedding day, while my groom and I were in the reception area, my bridesmaid went back to the chapel to over hear the Grand Affairs team vent about us. Saying that we complained about everything. Even though I was upset with my experience, it was this action that prompted my review. However, the experience/communication continued to fail. We were due a refund due to the decreased guest count. I was told that we would received our refund by the end of August. The beginning of September, I was told that our refund was being processed. We finally received our refund September 21 (30 days after our wedding). When receiving our refund, I questioned our deposit not being refund. I was told by our Day of Coordinator that we did not receive it back because our wedding party was over 8, our rehearsal ran over and our ceremony ran over. In a snarky email, she mentioned that our contract gave us that information however, that was not the case. She said that we pay $50 for over 8 in our wedding party and we were charged $50 for going over our ceremony time...she also mention that our rehearsal ran late because my groom was late, I had to let her know that we rode together so, that was not true. When calling as asking her to tell me where it said the "over 8 fee of $50" in our contract, she could not find it. Later that day, I receive a call to pick up our remaining balance from our deposit. I tried very hard to work with the venue but, the lack of communication and unprofessionalism from the staff was truly disheartening. read more

Never would go here again. Parking was horrible all my guest were late. I was promised a room to get ready in, but had to dress in a small office room. None of the tables were set up according to our map layout. The lady kept forgetting all of our discussed details. Carpet is old and outdated. My 20 Year Class Reunion was held at the Grand Affairs this past weekend. Everything was wonderful! The food was awesome, the decorations were just what we wanted, and the staff was excellent from beginning to end. I was assisted by Ms. W. Vines for the step-by-step planning. She was wonderful! My service captain, Janiesha (sorry if it spelled incorrectly) was great. She kept everything on schedule, and was very friendly. We had our wedding and reception at this facility and we had a great experience! The overall convenience of having the chapel and the repletion in the same place, saved time and allowed our guests to not have to drive anywhere and we could get the party started sooner:) Our staff were polite and very accommodating, making sure we were happy and that everything was on time and just the way we wanted it. We had an open bar and a photo booth, which was in the reception space. This was a huge hit!! Everyone of our guests loved the overall experience and the food still comes up in the conversation. We had a buffet with roast beef, chicken, mac-n-cheese, roasted potatoes, vegetable medley and salad. The food was delicious and my family raved about everything, saying that the food was worth every penny. I will say that the staff is there to make you happy, it's your special day! We asked for a heavy hand on the seasoning with the food because it's a personal preference and they were even willing to accommodate my two vegetarian guests without complaint. My reception space was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Ms. Jaki Reeves was kind and loving when this stressed bride came in every time. My day was fantastic and I owe that to her and the staff at Grand Affairs. We went with Astro DJ at their recommendation and it definitely paid off.
