Location location is a concept that applies to hotels also. Cavour is close to and within walking distance of a few of area main attractions, (Duomo, Uffizi. Pointe Vecchio) restaurants and shopping. About 20 minutes from the airport and 10 from the Train Station. Rooms are a decent size and we had a double which in this case was 2 Twins. Rooms have more of a classic decor and if you look at walls, doors, and floors closely could use a refresh/updates. Not a big issue for us as we didn't come to Florence to sit in our hotel room. Mini refrigerator and safe were convenient. They have an ironing room on the first floor as well a fitness room on the main floor. Equipment was dated but got the job done. Also, there is a Rooftop Bar and Lounge. Great views, cocktails (priced accordingly) and atmosphere. You have to reserve a spot/time with Reception. Definitely worth a visit. Breakfast, if you don't include when booking with your room, is 18 euros per person. We opted for the plethora of Cafes with open air seating just steps away. Being in the middle of it has some disadvantages as we heard some of the late Nighters sharing their bliss and waking up all who were asleep quite early in the AM. The Concierge was excellent and gave us some solid restaurant recommendations. Staff was also very helpful, friendly and upbeat. Overall, great location with rooms priced accordingly. We would stay here again.

Long overdue review. Stayed here for a week in 2019 and loved the location. Walking distance to Duomo and many many restaurants and shops. Loved waking up early to enjoy their breakfast buffet and starting the day. (It's not included in the hotel fee). The hotel is kind of old but charming. Our room was probably the worst room of the hotel on the last floor with a raised area for the bed. But since we weren't in Florence for the room we didn't complain and just enjoyed out trip by sightseeing all week. Staff is nice and helpful. Will stay here again. But in a different room. We really enjoyed Florence.

Bath towel sitting in the bidet

Booked this 4 star hotel since it is central to lots of must see sights. Rooms are nice but not sure why bath towels are left in the bidet. Towel racks that has a warmer does not work. Heat cycles off at night so you freeze. Hotel has a rooftop but must make reservations with a one drink minimum...not worth it if you don't drink. Breakfast is $21 per person. Front desk staff are nice and very helpful.

This review is for the rooftop bar only. We did not stay as guests at this hotel. The view is really beautiful, definitely enjoyed coming here. we came during sunset! The service was very very slow, even though there were 3 people working and it wasn't super busy. The cocktails are 16€, beer is 10€, and the wine prices vary but I think the cheapest one was 9€. Your drink comes with a few snacks which was nice. *if you come here and are not a guest of the hotel they will take your ID (one person in your group) at the front desk of the hotel. *if you are paying with card you have to pay at the front desk of the hotel before you leave and then you will get your ID back.

The sign of the shitty hotel!

Horrendous service, terrible room service, they didn't change our linens for a week! The bar had no liquor and the restaurant had no food. I wouldn't wish this hotel upon my worst enemy. They couldn't get us any taxis even though we were paying customers. Find another hotel in Florence this one is not worth the money!! If I could give it zero stars I would. Would NOT RECCOMEND FOR TOURISTS!

We were extremely happy with our stay at Hotel Cavour! It was just a one night stop on our honeymoon. The location in Florence is perfect, and everything felt upscale and clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we had to do a quick room change. The rooftop view and bar alone are worth a stay at Hotel Cavour!

Amazing view from the rooftop patio.

The hotel was centrally located, and it's one of the more modern, elegant hotels we've stayed at during our trip. The Duomo and Piazza Santa Maria Novella were steps away from the hotel, and it's a less than 10 minute taxi to the train station. Their complimentary breakfast was amazing. They offered a huge variety of items including hot food, tortes, cereals, fruit, cheeses, parfaits, quiches, etc. I enjoyed a latte every morning with them. Our room at Hotel Spadai was excellent. Very spacious with tall ceilings and had plenty of room for us to lay out 2 large pieces of luggage and 2 small carry-ons. The bathroom was big as well, but the shower was disproportionate to it. The shower felt so much smaller, and what's weird was its two double doors. The doors met at the corner of the shower and didn't close all the way, so water could easily escape to the floor. Other than that, I would 1000% stay at this hotel again next time I'm in Florence.

The room and bathroom were spacious, luxurious, and beautifully designed. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and every detail of the experience felt thoughtful and elevated. The amenities were fantastic -- especially the unexpected happy hour at the bar, which was such a lovely touch. And the breakfast buffet? Truly unmatched. I'm convinced every future hotel breakfast will pale in comparison. I still think about the incredibly fresh raspberries and strawberries I had every morning! I also loved the robes and slippers provided in the room, which made the stay feel even more comfortable and indulgent. The location is perfect -- close to everything and just steps from the Duomo, yet surprisingly peaceful and not overly noisy. The hotel itself smells amazing and is decorated in such a beautiful, modern style. I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. It was worth every penny, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

It was built in the 6th century AD by the Byzantines as part of the "newer" city walls to augment the older Roman ones and protect the city during the Gothic War. The circular shape, which was rare in the Middle Ages, reflects ancient Roman building techniques. The tower rests on a circular wall that surrounded a swimming pool or Roman thermal bath. In the basement there is a calidarium, with brick floor channels for heat, which would have been used for steam baths. According to our guide, Roberta, it was used as a women's prison in the 12th century. Pagliazza references the straw mat bedding upon which the inmates slept. Later on, it was converted into the bell tower of a church. Eventually it was acquired as a private residence. Today it is home to a luxury hotel with a small museum and restaurants. The museum showcases artifacts from excavations dating back to the Roman and medieval times. Although we didn't stay here, the history of the Pagliazza Tower is very interesting.

Checking in was easy with an accommodating staff. The rooms are nice, but not fabulous, The elevator system confuses everyone! The breakfast (complementary for us) was quite good. While the location is fabulous and the staff quite nice, I expected a slightly nicer room for the price, but as they say, location, location, location.

We were starving, it was rainy and just got off the train from Rome so we even had our luggage. The service was impeccable, they took care of our coats and luggage right away and seated us. The restaurant was peaceful and gorgeous. I still remember thinking "oh awkward we are underdressed for this!" I usually don't get impressed by decors of restaurants but the color and the elements and the layout of the restaurant somehow just gave me the relaxation I needed. We loved our entire experience but the highlight was the food. Every single dish was beautifully prepared and so so delicious. We fell in love with truffle here. And don't think we have had truffle that blew our mind elsewhere after (including Michelin two and three stars). I can taste the chefs mastery of the ingredients. No dish was overly complicated but each ingredient and sauce just complemented each other perfectly. You feel like you are in the forest where the food comes from. It's one of the meals I remember the most vividly, even after 4 years. Even on our culinary journey throughout Italy, this was a clear highlight. My only regret is we didn't purchase the truffle products here. I highly recommend this restaurant!
