My husband and I just check out of Grand Hotel Cavour. We enjoyed our stay with them. Our room was very spacious and clean. The front desk staff was very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. There was a blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tissue, and water in the room. The roof top patio was lovely. The only negatives I have are the pillows were very flat and the bed was a little hard. The shower faucet was awkwardly placed too but these things wouldn't stop me from staying again. read more

Location location is a concept that applies to hotels also. Cavour is close to and within walking distance of a few of area main attractions, (Duomo, Uffizi. Pointe Vecchio) restaurants and shopping. About 20 minutes from the airport and 10 from the Train Station. Rooms are a decent size and we had a double which in this case was 2 Twins. Rooms have more of a classic decor and if you look at walls, doors, and floors closely could use a refresh/updates. Not a big issue for us as we didn't come to Florence to sit in our hotel room. Mini refrigerator and safe were convenient. They have an ironing room on the first floor as well a fitness room on the main floor. Equipment was dated but got the job done. Also, there is a Rooftop Bar and Lounge. Great views, cocktails (priced accordingly) and atmosphere. You have to reserve a spot/time with Reception. Definitely worth a visit. Breakfast, if you don't include when booking with your room, is 18 euros per person. We opted for the plethora of Cafes with open air seating just steps away. Being in the middle of it has some disadvantages as we heard some of the late Nighters sharing their bliss and waking up all who were asleep quite early in the AM. The Concierge was excellent and gave us some solid restaurant recommendations. Staff was also very helpful, friendly and upbeat. Overall, great location with rooms priced accordingly. Long overdue review. Stayed here for a week in 2019 and loved the location. Walking distance to Duomo and many many restaurants and shops. Loved waking up early to enjoy their breakfast buffet and starting the day. (It's not included in the hotel fee). The hotel is kind of old but charming. Our room was probably the worst room of the hotel on the last floor with a raised area for the bed. But since we weren't in Florence for the room we didn't complain and just enjoyed out trip by sightseeing all week. Staff is nice and helpful. Will stay here again. But in a different room. We really enjoyed Florence. read more

Booked this 4 star hotel since it is central to lots of must see sights. Rooms are nice but not sure why bath towels are left in the bidet. Towel racks that has a warmer does not work. Heat cycles off at night so you freeze. Hotel has a rooftop but must make reservations with a one drink minimum...not worth it if you don't drink. Breakfast is $21 per person. Make sure you don't book and "interior room". There is NO natural light or air. If there had been a window, it would have been a decent room, without it - not so much I arrived late from the airport and struggled with their very heavy door .. while the person at the desk stood there and watched. It wasn't a very good introduction to the hotel. I did get a reservation for the rooftop bar. I was seated at a nice table, until the place filled up when I was moved to a small table shoved between 2 couches. In general, the location was great, but the service was pretty terrible. I was traveling alone and felt invisible to the staff. I had a different hotel for my last 6 days in Florence and was glad that I could move there a night early. Not a 4 star experience. read more

This review is for the rooftop bar only. We did not stay as guests at this hotel. The view is really beautiful, definitely enjoyed coming here. we came during sunset! The service was very very slow, even though there were 3 people working and it wasn't super busy. The cocktails are 16€, beer is 10€, and the wine prices vary but I think the cheapest one was 9€. Your drink comes with a few snacks which was nice. *if you come here and are not a guest of the hotel they will take your ID (one person in your group) at the front desk of the hotel. *if you are paying with card you have to pay at the front desk of the hotel before you leave and then you will get your ID back. read more

The MAIN reason I booked this hotel was because it had a rooftop bar with a beautiful view of Florence (per pictures). Unfortunately, because it was raining (a light sprinkle, at the most), the rooftop terrace was completely closed for the entire 2 days I was there. I understand closing the bar portion of it, but not being allowed to even go upstairs to enjoy the view (even if it was with rain boots and an umbrella) was disappointing, to say the least. With that being said, the room was clean (but small), and service was both friendly and helpful. The breakfast offered downstairs in the a.m. was delightful with a wide selection of fruit and pastries- they even had honey available straight off a honeycomb! The location was relatively close to several sites and restaurants, so that was a plus as well. read more

Horrendous service, terrible room service, they didn't change our linens for a week! The bar had no liquor and the restaurant had no food. I wouldn't wish this hotel upon my worst enemy. They couldn't get us any taxis even though we were paying customers. Find another hotel in Florence this one is not worth the money!! If I could give it zero stars I would. This was a very clean and cute hotel. I really enjoyed the breakfast if for no other reason than the coffee was amazing!! The fresh tomatoes and meat and cheese made a great first meal and my husband enjoyed a more typical eggs and bacon breakfast each day. The room was very small with a terrible view but there was a rooftop bar and a room with an iron on the first floor. (Quire the commodity in Italy. The staff was very accommodating for English speaking guests. The rooftop bar was very small and less accommodating. The walls were very thin and my room was centered across from the elevator and we heard everything at all hours of the night. However to the credit of the hotel they did provide ear plugs. read more

Before traveling to Italy, I did extensive research trying to find just the right hotels for my family. I was traveling with my elderly parents, so location was very important. Furthermore, we needed to ensure walk-in shower for my parents. The rooms were beautiful, and the bathrooms fit our needs. I will say, I was disappointed that after reaching out to the hotel to ensure we would have walk in shower for my elderly parents, the rooms we had required steps to get to the rooms. While it was only a few steps, every time we came or left the room, we had to deal with the steps. Not a big deal for us but for my parents (one with a walker) it was a bit difficult. The location of the hotel was quite perfect. We were situated a couple of blocks from the Duomo, Piazza della Rupubblica and the Ponte Vecchio and all directions! Upon arrival to the hotel, there was a designated parking spot out front to allow us to unload our car. The lobby was elegant and welcoming. The desk staff was very helpful with our bags and the entire check in process. Good size lifts and the suites we booked were quite lovely. We had a sitting a room with a pull-out queen size bed, good size bedroom and both rooms beautiful large opening windows. The bathrooms were large and well stocked. Because we had family sleeping on the pull-out couches, Room 539 was preferable as you could enter the bathroom from the hallway vs. Room 535 where we had to walk thru the bedroom to access the bathroom. The typical breakfast buffet was redesigned to accommodate safety due to the pandemic. The dining room was equally as beautiful as the rest of the hotel. Without a double the most amazing part of the hotel was the rooftop Terraza with views of Florence in every direction. We literally felt like we could reach out and touch the Basilica in one direction and the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio in the Piazza della Signoria and off in a little distance the Basilica of Santa Maria. We ended up having a nightcap each evening on the Terraza. Based on the Terraza alone, not to mention the beautiful rooms and amazing location, we will be choosing the Grand Hotel Cavour the next time we visit Florence! read more

Very noisy hotel. Starting from 0730 in the morning it seemed like somebody was dragging a furniture upstairs nonstop. The rooftop bar is ridiculously overpriced, example one shot of 12 year old scorch was 20 euros. If I'm paying 20 euros for a sip then it better something special and not a regular scotch that I can buy the whole bottle for $26 in Los Angeles . read more

This is a gorgeous hotel with a terrific rooftop bar. It is centrally located and is about 2 blocks from the Duomo. The staff is pleasant and they speak English. There is a great restaurant next store--Yellow Bar. The room was very clean, modern and quiet. The hotel lobby looks like a museum. I would stay there again if I was headed to Florence. Beautiful, great location and the rooftop bar make it an awesome place to stay. read more

The hotel, staff, and bars were simply delightful. From the lobby to the rooms the decor is comfortable and welcoming. My room was clean, comfortable, and generally quiet. The staff at the desk, in the restaurant, and on the rooftop bar were accommodating and friendly. It would be nice if they didn't close the only full service bar in the hotel for private functions without an alternative. Even with that, Cavour is a hotel that is well located and very pleasant at which to stay. I'd happily return. read more

Although the location could not have been better (right next to the duomo on a fantastic street) I found the staff not friendly. We had asked about laundry service without any help from the staff. The Location and roof top bar are great. However, several issues with this hotel we not have me returning. The noise level off the street is extremely loud (even on the 4th floor with the windows closed) and wakes us up throughout the night. The shower is almost unusable very narrow. The room is hot and you can not adjust the temperature. The breakfast that was included is sub-par imagine getting bad coffee in Italy. read more

There is good news and bad news about this hotel First, the good news. The hotel is located near the city center, so it was convenient to walk to several sightseeing locations, as well as restaurants and plaza. And the staff was pleasant and mostly helpful. Now the bad new, WE WERE ROBBED AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! Please be careful. We were traveling with a group of 9 people. We had 5 separate rooms on 3 different floors. On the last night of our stay at the Hotel Cavour, 6 of the 9 people in our group went to dinner at a nearby restaurant. While we were gone, an intruder attempted to gain access to all 5 of our rooms. Three of the rooms were empty, the occupants were having dinner, and their rooms were robbed. Mostly iPhones and laptops. The intruder entered a fourth room, but unfortunately, a male guest was still in that room. So the intruder ran off. And for the fifth room, he actually knocked on the door, where 2 ladies were still in their room (they did not go to dinner), so he left. That night, the hotel manager told us not to do anything and they would have their hotel security look into it. They did nothing the next morning. We went to the police station to file a robbery report. The hotel manager pretended to be nice and said they would reimburse for some of the cost of the stolen iPhones and laptop. Bottom line, after we returned to the United States, the hotel manager ignored my calls and emails. They did not reimburse us for any items. And their actions at the hotel would even suggest that somebody at the front desk gave the Robber our room information. How did the Intruder find all 5 of our rooms that were on THREE different floors? Just luck? I don't think so!! The hotel knew we were checking out the next day and they asked us not to worry about anything. But they did nothing and had no plans to do anything. Please be very careful if you use this hotel!!!! read more

This was a pretty slick hotel in the middle of the city at a decent price point. Came here for a bachelorette party weekend. The hotel entrance is a blink and miss but the lobby has a nice understated beauty with marble floors and leather sofas. Rooms are clean and spare - two twin sized beds, big armoire, 20" flat screen tv, mini fridge without the sensor (perfect for stashing surprise champagne), free wi-fi, and a lovely Juliet balcony. The hotel turns off electricity when the key is turned in downstairs - so don't pass it off to your room mate if they're on their way out. Breakfast was a nice spread of juices, yogurt, pastries, and coffee. It wasn't included in the guest fee, so we unknowingly partook the first morning we woke up there. There's a gorgeous roof deck with a cafe, but it was closed for the season when we visited. read more

I thought I had canceled all my hotels, but this one something happened in the online transaction and it was not cancelled. After pleading with the hotel they refused to help me and charged me the first night stay. Talk about Renaissance Flair. This hotel is exactly what I imagined a place in Florence, Italy would look like. The hotel matches its surroundings, in that it's literally breathes history. Every accent, color, and piece of furniture used in this place adds to its "Old-World" appeal. Our hotel room was even equipped with a Shakespearean balcony (swoon). The Grand Hotel Cavour is perfect for people looking for a great hotel in the center of Florence. It's walking distance away from some of Firenze's best attractions, such as the Boboli Gardens, Ponte Vecchio, and Il Duomo. Their rooftop bar has the most magnificent view of Florence, with Il Duomo standing gloriously right in front of your eyes. They have a delicious breakfast every morning, featuring a plethora of delicious regional foods. Also has very attentive staff. I wish I could snap my fingers and transport back to this wonderful place. read more

The staff are wonderful, the rooms in my opinion are hidious, think cabin rooms in a cruise ship. The view is essentially in the roofbar they have in the top floor. You are in the doumo area so location is great. But I wasn't fond of the hotel or breakfast mostly breads, cakes and hot eggs just the location, we were there on our honeymoon. When we arrived to our room there was a strange smell so we asked to be changed, right away they changed us. The view from the hotel room is this abandoned looking brick building. read more

Very nice rooms and great location; however, hotel staff was quite rude. They questioned us multiple times if we were guests. This in itself would seem reasonable. However, they did not ask anyone else walking in. They would often yell across the lobby once we were already at the elevators making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. read more

We were told that the AC was turned off in the entire hotel due to "federal regulations" (interesting that none of the hotels we stayed at in Rome, Venice, Milan, or Cinque Terre had to adhere to those, or any of the other hotels in Florence for that matter). Anyway, keeping the windows closed made the room sweltering hot, so we opened them. This subjected us to the massive amounts of street noise and mosquitos, so we got no sleep. I am not clear whether the hotel was trying to save electricity or if there really is some regulation, but either way, offering an upcharge to have the AC on or putting a fan in the room might have made this more tolerable. Also noted that in our room bathroom fixtures were broken, there was no water pressure in the shower, and putting the "do not disturb" sign on the door apparently invited the staff to walk right into your room. Only saving graces of the hotel are location and a friendly staff, which is why it gets 2 stars instead of 1. Shocking that this is a 4 star hotel! read more
