We checked into a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the garden and water. The room is gorgeous with very high ceiling and overall the experience is, indeed, quite magical. It's as if you're transported to the 1900's Grand Empire moment one reads in EM Foster books. One slight issue I have is the door lock. Since the hotel seems to want to keep the old world experience, the door is locked with a heavy key and not with the modern card keys now used by most hotels of this category. But I must say it does add to the charm of the whole place. Another slight complaint I have is the location, (which for some people might be a pro). It's too far from the main central area of Palermo to walk to and you will have to take a shuttle, provided for free by the hotel at scheduled times during the day. If you need to be out during the night in the city, however, you will have to use a taxi.
We also enjoyed the special dinner done in the hotel. Ask for Suan (pronounced as Swan). She is a wonderful hostess and provides for whatever one may ask during the dinner.
I would certainly go back again. read more
