We registered our son to pre-skate first and then can-skate later…read more PRE-SKATE - no issues with this program. The instructors were awesome with the kids and made skating fun by introducing balls and frisbees and bubbles (to make them move around more) - our son loved this and couldn't wait to go next week. CAN-SKATE - our son progressed adequately enough to move up to this level. Overall...we were not satisfied with our son's progress. We watched an older Male instructor each week basically take his pen and make obstacle courses for the kids. From there.....our son appeared to be on his own when he fell a dozen times or he started wandering from the obstacle courses. This male instructor was not very attentive to our son the same way that the other instructors were in pre-skate (but there were a few other instructors that were attentive in can-skate but our son had little instruction by them). Our son seemed to have this same instructor each week......which we weren't exactly thrilled about. We were not expecting our son's instructor to hold out his hand to him all the time but we were hoping he would provide our son with a bit more attention and instruction. For this issue we felt our son would have better luck skating with my spouse during public skating. Its unfortunate but we just were not exactly satisfied with this one specific male instructor and our son's progress. If you take your kids to these sessions - I suggest you watch the instructors - more for Can-skate than pre-skate. Hopefully you will have better luck than our son.did. I am NOT knocking all instructors as this would not be fair - as most were great with our son....and I do thank them. We just thought the instructors would be a bit more diversified so he has a different instructor each 1-2 sessions - which DID NOT happen.

Better Then Fred's is a BBQ sports bar in downtown Grande Prairie, AB…read more I drank a local beer, the Grain Bin Red Willow Amber ale (brewed locally in Grande Prairie), and ate the smoked beef brisket dip (beef brisket with sautéed onions and mushrooms, topped with Swiss cheese and served on a baguette). This sandwich was absolutely amazing!!!! And so was the Au Jus :) The atmosphere is cool, has TVs to watch sports, has pool tables and also has a stage for live music.

This is a tough review to write on a couple of levels. Better in that Fred's treated us well, but…read morethey missed the mark on a couple of fronts. Be more like a 3.5 from our point of view as the good was the excellent green salad and the light smoke on our half chicken. The bad was the dry chicken, most definitely overcooked by more than a little bit. The pierogi's were stuffed with potato, and dry to the point that they were almost like little tanks. You had to use a knife to cut them in half, and the accompanying onions might have been better left in the kitchen. The decor is pool hall dark, which is ok, because that is what it is. The place was pretty full of locals on a Sunday early evening. Our server was quite attentive, but the food came out quite slowly, the mains for sure took longer than they should have. Pricing seemed quite reasonable to us, but where we live eating out has become quite a luxury. Would we go back, maybe, but there are still plenty of places to explore in Grand Prairie prior to doing so.
