This is a delivery review: Extremely disappointed. For $30 I got "won ton" soup which consisted mostly of boiled cabbage. My "hot & sour" soup wasn't spicy at all & it was very watery. Also, the chow fun I ordered was stuck together in clumps & it was bland. I almost called to complain, but felt it was pointless since the food was already delivered. Had dinner at Grandview Palace tonight. Overall, I have mixed feelings but in the end had a positive experience. The meal was definitely not overly expensive and the portions are huge. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken as well as the vegetable egg foo young. Both were solid dishes with respectable flavor, but both were drenched in sauce and overly sweet in my opinion. On the other hand, I was very pleased with their wonton soup. Its flavors were more subtle, but was delicious and the wontons were especially good. If I went back, I might only order a large bowl of wonton soup for my meal and I would surely leave a happy camper. In short, definitely a solid place to check out in Pasadena, but it did not completely blow my hair back. read more

You get exactly what you sign up for at Grandview Palace, and I like that. The food is pretty good. It's not amazingly authentic like if you were in the heart of Manhattan's Chinatown, but you know what? They do a solid job. We loved the Chef's Special fish--batter-fried fillets with just enough kick to make it interesting, and just a bit of sauce. The potstickers were solid. I liked their sautéed broccoli dish. This review is for the food and delivery. We have ordered delivery from here several times in the past couple of months and every time it is fantastic. Yelp always says it is going to take over a hour for the delivery and never does, it is always closer to 30-45mins, which is AWESOME. So this is our regular order: Potstickers- We prefer to the chicken, they are full of meat and some veggies. When delivered they are always hot and tasty. You can also order pork. Salt & Pepper Pork Chops- WE LOVE THESE. We always order these no matter what else we order. We usually get them extra spicy and love all the chili peppers. They are breaded pieces and super crunchy and moist. Combination Lo Mein- This is our favorite lo mein, we ordered the chicken lo mein and it was just not at good as the combination lo mein. Full of chicken, beef and shrimp. Super tasty. Green beans with chicken- The green beans are always crispy and tasty and flavorful. And lots of chicken included. A little heads up, they can be a bit oily on occasion. We ordered the hot and sour soup and it was delicious and would certainly order it again. It was black peppery spicy and delicious! I have ordered from this restaurant three times. The first time they were an hour late with my delivery. The second one was ok so I gave them another shot. A tip was given for both orders. After this third chance I will never order from them again. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough to leave a tip for the driver this time and he proceeded to stand at my door and fuss at me about it telling me the restaurant was 6 miles away which it is only 3. This isn't the point though, although customary a tip is optional. I kindly apologized and let the driver know that I will give them a tip next time. There will never be a next time. I patronized Grandview when it opened on Fair Oaks & California. They closed but opened Grandview 2 on Colorado. Same menu. Same amazing food. Hunan beef being our number one top choice every single time. Came to town to visit family & was hell bent to have my Grandview that I've missed so much. Googled to find the number. Colorado was closed but to my surprise there was another Grandview on Raymond. Well, the food was garbage. Panda Express has better food than this place. Either they changed their menu or Grandview and Grandview 2 are different entities. The kung pao was tasteless, the noodles were dry and my beloved hunan beef was some rubbery, flavorless concoction they call beef. Such a waste. I intend to stop by Grandview 2 the next time we're in town in hopes that they haven't changed their all time delicious dishes...one can only hope but this is 2020 so most likely my beloved Grandview that I have enjoyed for 40 years is gone. This has to be the best Chinese food ever !! Everything about the food is very tasteful and fresh. I had ordered the egg drop soup which was very delicious. I also had the walnut shrimp, vegetable lon Ming and the orange chicken. The orange chicken OH MY GOSH! It's amazing ! The best I've ever had ! Very fast service as well. There's a parking structure just ahead of the restaurant. We didn't go at a busy time so I wouldn't know how parking is during busy hours. I highly recommend this place ! read more

With our long-time fave Fu Shing recently folded we opted to try Grandview, the highest-Yelp-rated Chinese resto with delivery in Pasadena, and - well, it ain't Fu Shing! The delivery was very prompt (30 mins, vs the 45-60 promised), the servings were very ample, BUT: the veggies (Buddha) were overcooked, the tofu was not very satisfying (the texture and flavor seemed flaccid); the (kung pao) chicken was so uniformly cut it didn't look like it came from a bird, but anyway, the flavors were okay, yet again quite mild (except the peppers) and the rice seemed a bit overcooked, i.e., very soft. And they forgot the chopstix, but our fortunes were very good! OH, and the veggie egg rolls were pretty much a waste of starch and grease with some cabbage in the middle. I see others liked it, but . . . Now, the food was quite filling, okay, reminded me of the modest chinese restaurants of my youth, except, thankfully it wasn't as sweetened as so many small chinese kitchens make it. But it was blah, compared to Fu Shing. Pasadena, with so many good restaurants, deserves our Chinese cuisine to be better than this. Decided try the food from here over mandarin which has a lower star count (whom I have ordered from before), but unfortunately the food was significantly worse. Maybe I was just unlucky, but it was bad enough for me to feel like I should say something. walnut shrimp had veins and was weirdly powdery...the spicy kung pao didn't have much flavor :( read more

I usually don't write reviews. But this is how bad this place is. I have no idea how it got 4 stars. It's expensive and bad. So I had a long day and I thought, why not getting a sort of expensive but good Chinese food since I worked so hard? I got a fried rice and a kung pao chicken (with steam rice), it was close to $25. I started with the fried rice. It almost had no flavor. It was just like paper that looked like shrimp, beef, pork and rice. Then I thought, OK, the kung pao chicken shouldn't have a problem since it's hard to make chicken spicy and Chinese but not good. But nop, that was not how kung pao chicken taste. It was basically just oily and soy sauce flavored. Alright. Steam rice. The last hope. AND....no. Even the steam rice is bad. Taste overly soft, mushy and weird. Maybe I went on a wrong day. Maybe there was something really wrong with my mouth that day. Whatever. You can definitely get something a lot better for $25 in Pasadena. read more

great chinese food. been coming to this location and the original on fairoaks and california for a long time. Food still good. I recommend the fish with black bean sauce. tofu hot pot also very good. Delivery is very affordable as well. kungpao chicken and string bean is a good dish because you typically have to order both of these dishes at $9 - $10 to get your fix, but this restaurant has them both combined in one dish. Try the Lucky Buddha Beer! It's good here. I like the service and those garlic string beans. I don't know any other Chinese food restaurants around here. Panda Express is nasty, that doesn't count. We always order the cashew chicken, vegetable noodles, garlic string beans, and Buddha Beer. I don't know what anything else tastes like and I don't care.i like what I like. It was hot spicy and delicious! My favorite out of the 3 dishes. Kung Pao Chicken & String Beans-Dried chili peppers, red bell peppers, green onions, and peanuts in a spicy sauce. Just ok. We got the Mu Shu Pork, Lemon Chicken, and Won Ton Soup. The broth for the won ton soup is excellent. The won tons are nothing spectacular but I recommend the soup on the strength of the broth. The lemon chicken was tasty. Good amount of panko and well adhered to the chicken. We got delivery, and the lemon sauce came separate from the chicken. I'm not sure if it is standard to serve it that way in the restaurant as well, but in delivery it meant that the chicken was still crispy when we got it. The lemon sauce tastes pretty funky on its own, but goes very well with the chicken. The mu shu pork was very tasty. However, it is my favorite in a way that makes me like pretty much every incarnation. The shells were thin rather than the thicker, tortilla-like shells that some places serve. The plum sauce seemed slightly different than normal plum sauce but I could also just be making things up. Either way, it came together as an extremely tasty part of the meal. The prices for the entrees seemed high when ordering but it buys a solid amount of food. It means that I don't feel ripped off when I get the food because we definitely have left overs. It also means that its about $30 down if you want much variety in your meal. It means that it is more ideal when 3+ people are ordering than ordering for 1-2. Even so, I would recommend this place and plan on ordering again. read more
