Colleen Haws, the CEO/Owner, sat at the bar eating/drinking while guests dropped money waiting for a non-existent band. Apparently Colleen Haws, CEO/Owner, needs to trick people with false event advertisement in order to obtain business. It became apparent to patrons, when requesting compensation for the false pretense, Colleen Haws, CEO/Owner, believes in insulting people. In addition, Colleen Haws, CEO/Owner, apparently doesn't like customers talking to each other about the fictitious band scenario because she called the police on the peaceful patrons and asked the police to escort them out. Conclusion, this restaurant is not "Grand", it doesn't offer a "view", music isn't bringing warmth to the environment, and Colleen Haws is a hot mess." read more

It was my first time to this place. With "tavern" in the name I wasn't expecting something this nice. Liquor selection was decent though they apparently run out of and change the bourbon selections often. Service was excellent. Our server was very personable and experienced (knew when to approach and when to leave us alone). Food was good, and expensive. Expect to spend at least $100 per couple - probably closer to $150 with drinks, appetizer, and entree. read more

While the food was good, masks were not worn by kitchen staff nor one of the servers. Our first waitress wasn't masked so I asked management to have her mask. All they did was switch waitresses. She still walked around without the mask. When our food came out, the food was brought by a man who was mask less. We should have walked out but I was with family who had driven in from out of town and on a timeline. Have visited many times pre-Covid with excellent experiences. My wife and I brought our 4 kids here for brunch this morning. The food was ok, the service was disappointing but we weren't going to let it ruin the day...until the bill came with 20% gratuity added. I walked up to the front to see if there was a sign indicating this, there wasn't. I asked the manager about it and he acknowledged that it wasn't in the brunch menu, but maybe the dinner menu. I've never EVER been charged automatic gratuity for a party that includes my kids. I have no problem tipping, but I feel like Samantha really dropped the ball and felt like I needed to pay for it. Order for 2 large salad with protein at 6:36 p.m. Confirmation email sent confirming order and for pickup at 7:06 p.m. Arrived at for pickup at 7:06, no order. Did not receive my order until 7:29 p.m. Checked the bag before I left, no dressing. Manager apologized and did not charge me for the food. Two salads ..... This is one of those times where I wish I could do 3 1/2 stars. I went here tonight with my parents for a belated birthday dinner. The place was decorated very nice for the holidays and we were seated promptly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. My dad and I ordered drinks and both of our mixed cocktails were very strong. I could not taste any of the mixers or flavors in my holiday cocktail and the waitress brought out some more white cranberry juice to sweeten it up. The next minor issue we had was with my mom's steak salad. Her steak was not cooked to order so she waited to have it fixed. We also had our bread brought to our table AFTER we finished our meals (they forgot). Overall, not worth the very high prices. My meal was great! Tasted great too (the bam bam pasta), but a small portion for a very high price. Our meal was very expensive and quite honestly nothing to write home about. My advice is don't head there on a Sat. pm. I have visited in the warmer months and eaten both inside and out on the somewhat spacious patio, but in the winter months, there is no place to wait inside and literally no room at the bar without being in the way of servers and breathing down on already seated diners. We asked for a table for two and the hostess asked for a phone number? I don't know if they ran out of pagers or if this is the norm, but I'm still waiting on a table for Sat. Feb. 19. Never received the call. We had a couple of drinks and headed to Montgomery Inn in Ft. Mitchell instead. I think the place has actually expanded recently, but is still way too crowded. read more

I know so many who enjoy this restaurant and I've tried on several occasions to be consistently disappointed. I went with a group of diners on Monday evening and the ambiance of the room were seated in was quite nice. It was some time before the server, who never gave us his name, came to welcome and take drink orders. He at first seemed to be a good server. After the drinks were ordered and brought, it was at least 15-20 minutes before he came back to take orders. He tended to stay away and was not attentive to those who needed refills. After the food was delivered it was close to another 15 minutes before he came to check on us. I ordered the 5oz filet with scalloped potatoes and asparagus. I did swap mushrooms for the cut up asparagus. When my dinner arrived, the steak was burnt and crunchy and the potatoes were inedible. There was so much seasoning in the potatoes that it was overwhelming. When the server finally came to check on us I asked why on the menu it did not mention scalloped potatoes with herbs. He agreed that there was a large amount of herbs and quickly brought out mashed as a replacement. The steak was nothing to brag so it was a lot of money for nothing. The only high point of the evening was the company I was with. I doubt that I will be back. read more

I've only been here a couple but the food and drinks have been consistently good. On my most recent visit I tried the goat cheese salad and it did not disappoint. Fresh ingredients and the goat cheese was presented as sliced and breaded wheels on the edges of the plate. The plate probably could have been shared between two, but I was hungry and my husband had his own meal to work on. I preferred the ambiance during lunch, more relaxed and low key. Something about the atmosphere during dinner here gives off a weird vibe to me. read more

Valentines Dinner 2020-Wrong entree received due to admitted server error. Both entrees sent back to kitchen so we could eat together. After being seated for 2 1/2 hours and talking to the server and manager, food still was not served. Owner was sought out who told us she was aware of the issue but that we needed to talk to the manager then went back to swigging her white wine at the bar. We then just wanted to leave but the manager talked us into taking our entrees home free of charge. We were frustrated but agreed because we were tired of arguing with her. Valentines Dinner 2021... We went with the twin filet meal for two that came with an appetizer, a dessert with champagne and a single rose bouquet for my wife @ $150.00. Our drinks were separate. Our total bill was $196.00 + tip. We never did receive our champagne and when I let the waitress know after we had eaten or dessert she was very apologetic. Now please understand we are not strangers to a $200.00 bill but when paying these prices we do expect a high quality meal. What we received was completely to the contrary. Our filet mignons were smothered in a horribly over salted gravy and completely overcooked asparagus that was completely unrecognizable as asparagus. Please understand how bad this meal was. I never leave a steak behind but this meal was so bad that I didn't even finish an 8 oz filet mignon. I walked away from almost 4 oz of meat... My wife walked away from more than 3/4 of her steak. It was horrible! I expressed our concerns about the food and the bill for food that didn't rise to the level of the bill to our waitress. We were not looking to get a free meal in any way shape or form but we do expect quality when paying these prices. The waitress did bring my concerns to the manager and returned with the offer of taking 15% off of our bill. I was slightly satisfied with this but would have appreciated a visit from the manager to address our concerns. Sadly, what should have been a lovely evening was soured by the procession of events. You would think with the competition from Shelly's Behle Street, GT would up the quality of the food. Nope. Ordered the Tavern Wings grilled with rub. Burnt, and oh so tiny. You really could not bite thru chicken meat so dry and tiny. Greek salad was almost inedible. And how can you possibly serve winter color chopped tomatoes in August? There is no one minding the kitchen here OR...they upped the prices and lowerd the grade of food ingredients to cut their overhead at diner's expense. What Grandview does have over Shelly's still is a better outdoor atmosphere. But no wonder it is often second choice for food. Maybe they are making it on drinks. read more

This was a disappointing experience. While the steak was good, it was not $42 good. And, let me talk about customer service. I set up this reservation to celebrate my husband's birthday. When I made the reservation a question was asked if there was a special event being celebrated. I noted a birthday as a special event that was being celebrated. Note sure why this question is asked as there was zero comment from the staff. But then you would have to make effort to provide service. Now I get you maybe be short staff and this may be at the heart of the issue. But I would have gotten more attention and care in a drive thru. While your staff may be expected to multi task, one should never show up at my table while drying a glass! So in short this is an overprice restaurant with fairly non existent service. read more

I've always had great experiences at Grandview, from lunch to a private party they have always delivered. Grandview Tavern has a great selection of alcohol at it's full service bar. The food has always been great but I do feel that some of the items on the menu are a little over priced, but that's never turned me away from coming in. The outdoor space is wonderful and you can find live music throughout the weekend. With bars inside and outside it's a great place to entertain nearly any crowd. read more

Paid $30 for a shrimp dish that had 6 shrimp and some very tasteless rice; filet boards were billed as serving 2 people and each person literally got 3 slices of steak and about 4 bites of sides. Went here for Mother's Day brunch first time. They were a little slow on restocking the hot food and desserts. Would have expected more dessert choices. The omelettes were excellent. The chicken and mystery fish were good. Jumbo shrimp was plentiful. The salad could have been better. Surprised that iced tea was extra to the $24.95 per person price. Great happy hour specials, good bar food (I have yet to have meal here, just appetizers), and a nice large patio area. The pub chips are delicious and plentiful enough to make two passes around our table of 10. The best appetizer we had was the goat cheese - 4 toasted pieces of baguette with a glob of delicious goat cheese, along with a spinach and mushroom salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious! However, our service was extremely sloppy. Not only did a waitress drop 2 glasses of water on someone in our group (which splashed over to another table, too) but not 10 minutes later ANOTHER glass of water was dropped and broke on our table, wetting two other guests in our party! Also, they only gave 8 out of the 10 of us water until another waiter realized some of us were missing waters. Just plain weird. The area is also a downside. If you enjoy looking out to I-71/75, this is a great place! But... I'd rather not enjoy happy hour right off of an expressway. read more

Large patio that even though it faces a parking lot has good ambiance; only downside is the smoking outdoors. Inside is quite dark, but comfortable. Our server was wonderful, really helpful and pleasant. When we couldn't decide on beers, she brought us small tasting samples. And then when I had a question about the lobster bisque, actually brought us a small sample of that too! The food is just all a bit overdone: everything covered in sauce or other superfluous garnish. The lobster bisque is lovely and super creamy, but the shrimp and grits was disappointingly drowned in a tomato broth. The crab cake is nice, but so hidden underneath corn chips and other stuff that it almost gets lost. Simplify, knock a few dollars off a slightly overpriced menu and you've got a winner. If nothing else, a good place to enjoy drinks and appetizers outside in nice weather. read more

Living in Northern Kentucky, and wanting to have a great date night meal on this side of the river, can sometimes be difficult. Luckily I scored a Living Social deal for Grandview, where I had been once for drinks on the large patio. I wasn't sure what to expect inside the restaurant, on a night that produced the first snowflakes of the season. The restaurant is large - I didn't realize how large - but the low, warm lighting, and quiet acoustic live music made it feel cozy. I loved the atmosphere.....very romantic for a date night, but the bar also seemed busy and lively for a night with friends. I especially enjoyed how well done the music was. I feel like a lot of restaurants think having live music is trendy, so they cram a band into a small corner, drown out the patrons, and make having a pleasant evening difficult. This was not that way at all. The space was not inhibited by the musicians, and their level was just right. We had an easy conversation over top of it, but were also able to recognize songs we liked, etc. I had a glass of the house Pinot Noir (hey, it was cheap!) and it was actually quite good, especially on such a cold night. We had the seared ahi tuna appetizer with a broccoli wasabi slaw. It was not the BEST seared ahi tuna I've ever had, but it was darn good. I wished I could have gotten an entire dish of the broccoli wasabi slaw :) My fiancee had the black bean burger. He is not a vegetarian, or a fan of eating healthy, so this really surprised me. He said it just looked good....and good it was! Cooked just to his liking and topped with house made pico de gallo and some kind of southwest sauce....very good. I got the Sicilian pizza, which was also delicious. There was a delicious sausage on top, and the pizza was not overly greasy - it was really good, and enough for lunch leftovers today! We discovered that Grandview has great happy hour specials...we were just too late to take advantage of them. They have theme nights (like 1/2 price pizza night, mexican night, etc), where they give special deals on certain menu items. My Meal here last December blew me away. I was dying to come back here to have that same meal. Imagine my disappointment when the menu changed. Dang. The day before. I ended up ordering the bruschetta. It was OK. The bread should have been toasted or grilled. I guess someone forgot to tell the chef that. I also ordered the Italian meat and cheese tray. Really lame. For one thing, cheddar is NOT an Italian cheese. And either is Munster. So that was really a bummer. So I have to say. They need an Italian Chef if they are going to sway their new menu in that direction. I might give them another try. But then again. They also go rid of the most fantastic bread too. That said, the food was very good and A bit overpriced compared to other similar locations. If the ambience was better, the price point would fit. I went here early on a Friday night and I was really looking forward to it because i use to go here all the time and get $1 train beers. Our waitress was really nice, but when she brought the wine we had to ask for a chiller (it was a hot night). We got the grilled portabella mushroom and i love garlic but there was a lot of minced garlic with olive oil and if you dont eat bread it can be overwhelming. Then I got the wedge salad (hot outside nice cold salad) and i asked what kind of steak they served with it and they said sirloin and was told they do a really good job with sirloin, but i swear i think i got TMJ from the chewy steak it was terrible. The salad itself was really good besides the terrible steak, in short overall the atmosphere was great, the waitress and overall wait staff were great, the salad was good minus the steak, the mushroom was good but if you dont eat bread it may be a little overwhelming and that is why i am giving 3 stars. Most awful Mixed drink I had in awhile. The drink was flat out disgusting. It made me yearn for a glass of straight gin. I cannot remember the last time I drank something that awful. It is wasn't that the drink was not for me, it tasted like thick syrup. The service was so slow, that I had to wait about 20 minutes to get something else. The poor drink was not addressed, only asked if they could get me something else. Then to top it all off, I got charged for the drink that got sent back. The food was good. Been there a few times, and it always is good. A little expensive, but it taste very good if you can put up with the long wait. My wife and I had 2 drinks apiece, but paid for 5. and some appetizers. were there over 2 hours. We felt forgotten. The food is good, so I gave it a two. If the service was average, I would give between a 3 and a four because of the price. It's a shame to, because its close by and the atmosphere is nice, but not paying those prices for bad service and inconsumable mixed drinks. read more
