This is a no-frills local diner with a huge menu full of breakfast classics. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the Irish Benedict. While the eggs and toasted english muffin were good, the hollandaise sauce was a bit bland, so I'd probably try something other than a Benedict next time. That said, everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, and I'd definitely be back to explore more of the menu. I always enjoy supporting local businesses like this, and this spot is a solid choice for a hearty breakfast. read more

I want to start by saying GSC is great!!! Today was a disappointment... My hash omelette wasn't the best. The eggs were stiff (maybe they were carton eggs not fresh cracked) and my hash wash so BURNT ( I like my hash crispy, but this was past that) I couldn't even eat it. read more

Things that Granite Street Cafe had going for it which won them our visit: 1) They were open early. 7am - 2pm, every day. We wanted to be somewhere by 8am, so that worked for us. 2) They have a parking lot, just past the intersection, after the building on Water Street. Okay, this was more of a bonus for us, at least initially, but when I got there and saw the streets around them, I even more appreciated it. There's also an entry from the parking lot, but it isn't particularly clearly marked. I read about it on someone else's review, and got there first, so I had time to meander. But is the metal staircase closest to the sidewalk. There was a single waitress, which meant service wasn't the quickest. But she was nice and knew her regular by name. The booths had clear plastic (or glass... I didn't touch them to verify) dividers - perhaps due to the pandemic and social distancing, perhaps not, but I liked them and they seemed a part of the original booths, rather then an after thought. We split a sweet and a savory - double strawberry pancakes (3 pancakes with both berries cooked in, and strawberry compote, whipped cream on the side) $12.50, and Granite Street Benedict (with corned beef hash) $14.50. Worst food I have ever had. An omelette I think was made with 1 small egg. They are not EQUIPPED to make crepes. I left and only paid for my coffee, they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

This is my second time going to granite street cafe. the staff is really nice and welcoming. Food is great and also comes out very quickly. It's a great neighborhood diner with a really good menu. They also have a bar. Would recommend checking out if you're in the area. read more

Friendly and welcoming and very convenient to the neighborhood. We enjoyed a quiet lunch and had a nice server. I had a mushroom/bacon/swiss cheeseburger; one of my daughters had a chicken salad wrap; and my other daughter had a BLAT (an avocado BLT). Fries were hot and crispy. Absolutely do NOT recommend! Not only do they not like colored folks in this establishment, they do not value health and safety. The last time I came here I found hair in my drink, and it was from Nina. It's been about 6 months to a year since then and I came back today, and that was a grave mistake. I requested an English muffin cooked lightly and it was burnt so she brought me out another one. As I am eating the English muffin I see something dark and black and realize it is a bug. I see the chef walking by and I stop him and he tells me it's something from the grill. I proceed to show him the head, wings, and legs and he's still debating me in front of the restaurant. He squishes the bug between his fingers and walks back to the kitchen. He handed me back the muffin and that is how I was able to take picture. I mentioned to my waitress that I am leaving and want the check. She said she doesn't know anything just to remove my meal from bill. I explained the last time I came here there was hair in my drinks and now a huge bug in my food. Her response was amazing "and you keep coming back" ... I absolutely will not be back and will make sure everyone knows about this encounter! Finally had the opportunity to visit this cafe and we are so glad we did!! The food was great And the service was also excellent. I ordered a hot tea and my friend had a soda. We were in for breakfast so my friend got the 2 eggs Over easy with all the fixings. He ordered wheat Toast but received white bread (he didn't complain) the home fries were SO good - everything was hot and crispy including the bacon. I got a cheese omelette which was really yummy. Very tasty and convenient spot for brunch! Came in on a rainy Sunday morning a few weeks ago and enjoyed some fun coffee cocktails (even was able to switch mine from hot coffee to iced upon request) and good food! It has a casual/diner feel, there were a few families inside but it allowed good social distancing once we were seated. I had the blueberry banana pancakes and a side of bacon--really enjoyed the very fluffy pancakes and felt like there was an adequate amount of toppings. The bacon was crispy and there was a lot of it! My boyfriend had the shrimp and bacon benedict and specifically noted that it had a lot of both bacon and shrimp. The home fries were a solid addition to the meal. Overall I'd say it's mot trying to be anything too hip or unique or gourmet, but if you're looking for some very tasty and classic breakfast food it's the right place for you! read more

Got tired of the same old rotation of items I make myself for breakfast, and decided to venture out. Plus, it's nice to get to get out of the house amid everything else going on. Regrettably, my experience was less than stellar. Not bad, per se, just not enough to warrant a return trip. I ordered a bacon waffle, coffee, and was able to try a cappuccino as well. Bacon waffle was solid, and good for bacon lovers! The batter/mix used to make it contained bits of bacon! However, it was spread throughout rather haphazardly with some areas containing close to none. Also some bacon pieces were just shy of pea sized, other small like a coarse salt granule. The waffle itself was cooked very nicely, with a very thin crisp outside and a soft inside. Salt level was pleasant and bacon-y, though there was not a distinct sweetness I could pick up on. There was maple syrup and various jams. The coffee was solid, pretty much what I'd expect, as was the cappuccino. I found the service lackluster on this morning. While the food came out within about 5 minutes, the remainder was on the slower side, and not-too-attentive side. Coffee refills weren't offered during the experience (though to be fair they checked in once towards the end of my breakfast). There were also little things I noticed around the restaurant that showed they were not having the best day. There were some empty bottles of champagne at the bar which weren't disposed of, and several tables that hadn't been cleared from previous patrons. read more

I came in really craving breakfast food and it was such an inviting atmosphere. I walked in but not only did the staff greet me but so did the customers, I've never had that type of experience at any restaurant truly one of a kind. Fits the bill both in variety and cost. Ambiance in the morning was much better than the packed sardines situation you usually get in other diners. There was no hostess in front but we received a super cheerful greeting from the servers as they told us to seat ourselves wherever we wanted. Food ordered: *Pancakes with bananas and chocolate chips - Yay rating! Super fluffy and great portion size. Plenty to take home and my daughter had it for breakfast again the next day. (5/5) *Crab cakes benedict - Tasted pretty good but had a tad too much breading in the crab cake mixture for my taste. (3.5/5). However, I shall be back to try their lobster varieties as I know it'll be even better. The eggs were tasteless and the Benedict was bland. The saving grace of the restaurant was the convenience. Great throwback restaurant. I came here on my last visit to Boston. The breakfast coffees were reasonable and great! The waitress even brought over whipped cream to our delight!!! The food was incredible. My party had 3 different types of eggs benedict- chicken and waffles, irish and classic. All were delicious. I had a BLAT sandwich which was cooked perfectly. One word: outstanding. Since corona season is upon us it's only fair to mention it is indoor seating. Take out is available. It's also a seat yourself, not sure if this is year round or just bc it's not busy right now. (I'm from out of state) food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the crepe. If you want a FOUR STAR breakfast - This is NOT the place. I ordered the ultimate breakfast with the eggs scrambled .... the eggs were brown and burnt, completely hideous and inedible. The larger issue is chefs and home cooks know how to cook/scramble an egg properly. It is basic cooking 101. More importantly, we/they know how scramble eggs should be prepared and look when cooked/prepared properly. Also, to add fuel to the fire, the potatoes/home fries were unevenly cooked and inedible. Based on the lack of basic cooking skills, I believe their food and this place is NOT worthy of a four stars, a visit OR the money. They don't serve dinner anymore I was told so the check in offer is no longer good I was told they wouldn't accept it. Small parking lot but very large dining area. No wait on a Sunday morning which is a perfect thing for me! They have 18, yes you read that right EIGHTEEN, different eggs Benedict selections. I chose the pattie Benedict. I am on a mission to find the best Benedict on the south shore and I have to say, this restaurant is definitely in the top 3. The hollandaise sauce was magnificent. And there was just enough of it! It drives me crazy when there isn't enough or when it is completely doused in it, this spot got it just right. My one criticism is the home fries were way too salty. Needed to grab a quick bite after arriving in Quincy on a Sunday afternoon. We each ordered a breakfast - veggie omelet and the Irish Benedict. The Benedict was served almost cold. Seemed to have good flavor yet the English muffin was soft. I feel it should have been crispy. My other issue was the Check In from Yelp. I always Check In for every restaurant I visit. On this occasion I received a 50% of our 2nd dinner. I accepted the offer. After showing it to the server, she reviewed it with the owner who said that since it was not "dinner" the offer would not be provided. That was disappointing. read more

Local place haven't been here in years but thank God we came back. Good place for brunch I had the meat lovers omelette with a panckayon the side and my wife had the eggs benedict. Both were delicious potatoes were cooked crispy with flavor and pancake was good as well. Prices are good too nice little spot to come once in a while for brunch. I've been trying new breakfast spots around Quincy and when I saw how many benedicts this place had, I just had to try! I love corned beef hash so incorporate that into a benedict and I'm one happy girl! My boyfriend ordered a breakfast wrap which he said was pretty good. My eggs on my benedict was cooked perfectly, it was runny when I cut into it and then the corned beef hash was crispy and soft. Definitely will be coming back here another time to try the other benedicts! Our bill for everything including tip was less than $25 which was great! read more

My first visit to the restaurant was last Sunday. I entered from the parking lot and that entrance had me really nervous. It was a little dingy and didn't look too clean. However, once I got into the restaurant itself it was much better. Tables were clean. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Service was fast and efficient. The food was very good in one respect and very disappointing in the other. I always order eggs over hard break the yoke. ( probably a mistake because most restaurants don't know how to cook them ). The egg white was burnt. They start out with the grill much too hot so in order to get the yoke done the white of the egg burns. My raisin bread was burnt however once I returned it the replacement was fine. My husband ordered an omelette with cheese and tomatoes. Plenty of tomatoes but no cheese. That was all the disappointment. Now for the good. I ordered bacon crispy. It was perfect. My husband ordered sausage. I tasted it. It was surprisingly very good. Very good flavor that I have not found at other breakfast places. Blueberry pancakes full of blueberries and very good. The coffee was okay but what I loved were the mugs in different patterns and a good size mug. Would I return? Yes, one more time, but with specific instructions in regard to our eggs and maybe the courage to return them if they are not right. read more
