As the name suggests, Granja El Calvario is just down the street from Monte Calvario and, thus, is easily accessible on the micro (city bus). It is more of a store than a restaurant, with an excellent variety of cheeses, salamis, hams, and other regional products (jams, etc.). The owner and other employees are extremely friendly and allowed me to sample more than a dozen cheeses, salamis, and hams before I made my purchase of items for a picnic during my first day in Tandil. I liked the place so much that I went back on my final day in Tandil to buy a "picada" to take back with me on the bus to Buenos Aires. All of the already prepared picadas were meant for 4-6 people (so much too large just for me), but the owner offered to cut some cheeses, salamis and hams for me in a "to go" package. The total price, including a small loaf of bread was 170 Argentine pesos (less than 5 US dollars) in February 2019 and was enough for 3 meals (one at the bus station, one for the bus on the way home, and one for the next day). The cheeses and meats are very high quality. This was one of my favorite places in Tandil, and will definitely be on my list if I ever am able to return to Tandil. read more
