We stayed in a tent site and really enjoyed this KOA! There was some train noise and the big KOA light made things a little bright at night, but honestly, that's pretty much what you expect at a KOA. We also got horse and cow noises, which I consider a bonus. The people here were SUPER friendly, sweet and helpful, and everything was so clean! The bathrooms and showers were spotless, spacious and felt very private. There's also a clean 24-hour laundry room, which is always appreciated on a road trip. The walking path through the lava fields was really cool and such a fun little extra. Friendly people, great facilities, very clean and a fun place to stay. I'd absolutely stay here again! read more

We stopped here because we were too tired to drive to Flagstaff. I called to make the reservation and requested a site near the restroom. The gal said she could only put me in site six which was not close because nothing else was open and there were only 50 amp sites close to the building. We told her that we had a converter and that was not a problem. When we arrived and we saw where the site was, I walked back and asked the gentleman inside who accommodated us immediately. A fifth wheel pulled up next to us and unhooked everything only to find out that the sites in actuality only have 30 amp, not 50 amp so they had to hook everything back up and move to a different location. They were not happy. This stuff is pretty basic - it's important to know what sites can accommodate what type of vehicles. The park seems to be next to what looks like a stockyard. Not very appealing. On the upside, they have very nicely marked trails that you can walk with signs describing the various lava formations and we enjoyed that. The other upside is that they serve free pancake breakfast in the morning, which we did not go to, but it was nice offering and also have a kitchen at night so you can order food and they'll deliver it to your site. they have two dog sites. One is very small and the other is a little larger, both without grass. Just gravel. There's no shade and it's incredibly dusty. And people go through the park fairly quickly creating a lot more dust. Not sure what they could do about it. It's just the situation to be aware of. The restrooms were clean. read more

We normally stay in Duke good Carey. We are traveling in a 45 foot Tiffin on our way back to Phoenix. We decided to go a little bit further so we didn't have such a long travel day on the last day. We were so pleasantly surprised with this KOA. We have traveled the entire United States and stayed at many RV parks and KOA. This spot in the middle of nowhere surprises us in the most best possible way! They were friendly and kind and courteous. They have a menu that you can order dinner from that is delivered to your site. And it's home cooked and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had a meat plate with brisket and ribs and I had the 12 inch pizza. It was better than any restaurant! They also serve free pancakes and coffee in the morning for anyone who wants breakfast. They even have a little store as well. This will be our stop going forward when we're traveling to the Midwest and east! We absolutely loved it. read more

After a long ride from Roswell, we arrived at this KOA around 6:30. We were starving and read that they offer dinner brought to your door! Before I knew it, two delicious hot turkey dinners were delivered to our campsite! Paula is an excellent cook and dinner hit the spot! The laundry room and bathrooms were spotless! There is a gift shop that offers lots of authentic Navajo works of art. This morning they offered their guests a continental breakfast! It was so cold that I had several cups of hot black coffee. The 5 stars are for the awesome staff, a well equipped store and gift shop and level spaces. You can order dinner from them and they deliver it to your RV! They also have complimentary pancakes, cereal and coffee in the morning. We needed propane so we removed our tank and set it out, and one of the guys came by and picked it up, filled it and returned it! The service here is fantastic. It's a pretty view, not much in amenities, but they have what you need and it's a nice place, and what it lacks in amenities, it more then makes up for with great service, a big thank you to the staff. *We are usually given a cookie at check-in at the KOA's not this time, I saw them but did t want to assume or ask. read more

Pulled in this afternoon to spend the night, while checking in the woman at the desk mentioned that they had a dinner you could pay extra for. Smelling the smoker when we pulled in, I looked at the menu and decided to surprise my wife with their large smoked platter (Brisket, ribs and sausage) and a slice of mixed berry pie a la mode. I set up a delivery time of 6:15 pm. They showed up right on time, and the dinner did not disappoint. My wife said it was a nice surprise after a long day of driving. Campgrounds were clean and well maintained, the folks were helpful and friendly. We will stay here again when we pass thru. I forgot to mention the pancake breakfast in the morning, it was awesome! read more

An unexpected surprise! We thought this would be a basic overnight stop, but it is so much more. It is easy to get to, has nice sites and the staff is great. They are next to the site of a volcanic rock field. You can walk through it and there is lots of information posted about the site as you walk th. It was very interesting. And to top it off, they have a free continental breakfast, with a really fun pancake machine. I highly recommend this campground if you are in the area. read more

That was a waste of $58. Online it looked like all the other RV parks were closed due to covid... this one only had "3 spots left" (see attached photo). It appears driving by that all the other parks are open. Including the casino and the one with carry out beer (man I wish i was there). The "dog park" is a 20x30 chain linked area (truck stop size). Idk if this place is new? It has fresh gravel and is level but it's NOT worth $58, its a glorified B- If I hadn't already paid before I got here I wouldn't have stayed, but its just for the night. #KOAyousuck. read more

The RV sites are long, level and graveled. We were warmly greeted when we checked in and given home-baked cookies! They have an automatic pancake maker and offer all-you-can-eat pancakes every morning from 7:30-9:30. They are very good. Also provide butter, peanut butter and syrup, as well as 4 types of cereal. They were very prompt about restocking items. There is only a small area to eat, but you can take them back to your camper, too. They offer meals and pizza that you can order in the evening and they deliver it to your camper. We ordered two 12" pizzas (for $15 each) and they were very good. Great when you have been traveling and don't want to fix it yourself. The bathrooms/showers are spacious, air conditioned and extremely clean and well maintained. Their laundry area is also very nice. They have 3 washers ($2 for 37 min) and 3 dryers ($1.85 for 42 min) that all worked. There is a walking path next to the campground that takes you to the lava beds that run through this area. Nice and quiet area to walk with informative signs. You can tell that the owners take pride in their campground! Definitely would stay here if we are ever in this area again! read more

We had a really nice couple of nights here. Since we only had 1 full day, we chose to go to the Ice Cave/Bandera Volcano. If you go there, you won't need a jacket on a warm day because you walk down stairs to view the cave. It's really cold, but you're not actually in the cave. Anyways, back to the KOA... my favorite part of this camp was the walking trail attached to the property. It takes me about 10 minutes to walk my dogs on it and it's so peaceful. We were always the only ones on the trail when we went for our walks. there are also 2 fenced, off leash areas for the pups as Well. My husband's favorite part of the camp was the dinner that was delivered to our rv. We chose the Smoked Meat Plate. Brisket, ribs, cornbread and mashed potatoes/gravy (I made steamed broccoli/brussels sprouts to go with it.) We chose the Peach Pie/ice cream for dessert (we tipped him when it was delivered.) It was very good and a nice change, not having much clean up. There's a playground for kids and an area with corn hole, a large Connect Four game, a plastic ax throwing game and a volleyball court (we played a few games of corn hole). We slept great and would recommend this KOA. read more

First off, great experience staying here. I depend on yelp reviews and especially the negative ones before making a decision on where to camp. I have to say I wish I could add more than 5 stars to my review because of our wonderful experience here. When you first drive in there are large KOA signs on the main road directing you to enter a smaller road into the campground. Once you drive in, you will park to the front of the office and register. We were greeted by friendly staff. We had no idea that this place would not be just an overnight stay as originally intended. We ended up camping here for almost 2 months due to a mechanical issue. We experienced a staff of wonderful people including the owners, during our stay. They all did their best to try to assist us helping us search for repair shops. The majority of the spaces are pull-thru's and ours accommodated a 40ft rig and tow vehicle very comfortably with full hookups. The spaces are gravel but level and we had no issues. I feel that every camper we met at this KOA seemed friendly and responsible. They offer cabins, tent camping, car/tent parking. There is a little playground for the kiddos. As for satellite on our rig...no problems with trees blocking access, so I was very happy! The owners keep the grounds meticulously clean from the spaces to the dog parks. The dog areas have baggies and a trash container for convenience. They take pride in their establishment which is a rare find. In the time we spent there we noticed their staff continually cleaning, removing weeds and debris, daily. I wish all campgrounds would do the same. They have a very nice office where they sell a variety of gifts and supplies. So stop by. They don't have to offer free morning snacks and coffee but they do and what a nice treat! Some reviewers are so negative and should appreciate the positive things in life. The fresh gooey cookies are made fresh daily and they are so yummy! During a portion of the year (during our stay) they have a dinner menu and delicious pies w/ice cream (I loved the apple walnut caramel) where you purchase it and they walk it over to your camper at the time of your choosing. Every meal we selected was delicious. It's very convenient when you just are too tired to cook or drive out to a restaurant (not many in the area). The staff members who walked our dinners and pies to our rig, were always so pleasant as they knocked on our door to hand us our meal. On a side note, there is a time frame to order your meal so make sure you call ahead. The bathrooms are cleaned daily. They are well kept and clean. I love a clean bathroom and I had no problem using it weekly. They have a laundry area that is clean. This KOA is convenient when visiting Grants and their places of interest. There are actually many places to visit and so glad we embraced this city and community. There is a walking path adjacent to the campground that contains lava rocks that have interesting reads along the walk. The office staff will offer places if interest in the area. We drove to the ice caves and volcano. It wasn't a far drive from camp. We drove to Mt. Taylor and other scenic spots. Walmart is nearby...one off-ramp away. We felt very safe and comfortable during our stay. We would definitely make this a stop the next time we drive the 40. read more

I stayed at 12 KOAs in the last 12 months. This was the most lacking in amenities. Gravel lots, you are literally on top of your neighbors and their septic system. No trees or shade and literally no playground or anything for adults or kids. Trust me skip this you can make it to another, better Koa this one is not worth it read more

I hate giving bad reviews, but this place earned one. This place is a waste of $56. We probably would have gone here if it was for $20 or less, but over $50, just avoid. The spots had almost no room and the pads were just gravel (which is fine, just at least give customers room to walk out of their RVs.) We were 32 feet long and had to pull up almost past the site because the hook-ups were so off centered. The free breakfast was just disappointing. Some coffee machines, some cereal and some bread. That was it. The only reason we stayed here was because there was nothing else close by. Very disappointing. Will be avoiding this place at all costs. Don't waste $56. read more

A couple of weeks ago my family & I went from California to South Carolina & back again in an RV. Out of all of the RV parks we stayed at (and there were a lot) this one was my absolute favorite. This was our first ever camping experience and first to a KOA. Our site was nice near the dumpsters and dog park. We couldn't get the cable to work but oh well we are camping! We would definitely stay at this park again. It was very quiet even though it wasn't far off of Interstate 40. The people were very nice and very helpful. We took advantage of their on site commercial kitchen and had a great dinner of smoked brisket and ribs. The pizza was very good too. Breakfast is available in the mornings. Pancakes and cereal. If you are ever in the area with your RV please make a point of staying at this park. But be sure to make a reservation because they fill up! read more

This KOA staff is incredibly friendly. The warm welcome would have been better if the staff person hadn't told me she only wore the COVID mask when people came in the office. I appreciate the honesty, but this just made her space that much unsafer. The sites are OK - there's no landscaping award happening here, but the utilities worked. Sites are close together and the park was full at night. Unfortunately, the train blowing its whistle every hour on the hour made sleep impossible. The tracks are across the highway, but the train whistle felt like it was next door. My hearing isn't even that great, but I don't see how anyone can sleep through this. We couldn't stay here again because of the noise. If you have hearing aids and can take them out, this place would work. read more

Worst experience ever! Warning never have a medical emergency at KOA! we had a medical emergency and instead of being compassionate and cooperative the manager decided to be hostile and unyielding. My daughter decided to end her life by way of over dosing on prescription pills as we arrived at KOA Grants. As you can imagine our priority was her and getting to the hospital as fast as possible, however the manager had other priorities and made it hell on me and my wife. She warned us that she would tow our car if we left it where it was or anywhere on their property even though they gave us permission to park it there and that we paid for an extra person and vehicle. She also wouldn't let us keep a tent in our spot where we were housing the cats we had to transport, which was fine and I would have been glad to make other arrangements but only after dealing with my daughter. My pea to allow us to deal with the tent, cats and car were rejected and she insisted that all be dealt with before following the ambulance to the ER, and had the nerve to say that my daughters condition wasn't serious! she said if it was serious we would have rode along in the ambulance! well I'm here to tell you It was serious. I don't know what can be done if anything, and I expect this complaint will fall on deaf ears but I would urge all to find a private campground and avoid this franchise and the middle management because they act more like HOA the campground host. read more

What a great KOA! Check-in was super friendly and easy, and they give each person a cookie. The sites are level and easy to get into. The campground was truly quiet at night, too. There is a trail around lava rock fields that is exceptional for such a small place. They have a free continental breakfast (cereal, donuts, oatmeal and beverages). There is a service to order food at your campsite, but we didn't use it. Wifi worked great - bonus! Bathroom stalls are small, but everything worked fine. The laundry room worked great. I can't say enough about the awesome service. This may be the best KOA we've visited. read more

This was our second year staying here. We rented the cabin again, which is clean and the are worked great! There are no microwaves or fridges in the cabin at this location, which would be nice for travel cross-country. The staff is extremely nice and helpful! I had originally called the park across the street, Blue Spruce, because it was half the price. When we arrived we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Saw the KOA and luckily they were able to accommodate us last minute. We didn't use any of the amenities other than the dog area but overall, the park seemed to be well taken care of. Very friendly staff, the pup got a treat and my husband and I each got a cookie! If passing through, I would stay again. read more

This is one terrific KOA. Very friendly and welcoming...showed us all the ins and outs. Plus, they have their own kitchen where we could order dinner and have it delivered to our RV. We did not take part, but our neighbors loved the Smoky Plate...ribs, etc. We saw the staff bringing many dinners out to other RVs. Spacing between rigs was about average for a KOA....close but not cramped. Easy access to and from the highway, only about a mile. Did not use the shower or bathrooms. They had free continental breakfast each morning. Coffee was good. One really nice amenity in the park was a 1/2 mile trail through the lava field next to the park. KOA had signs made along the route that described the details of the massive lava flows that occurred thousands of years before. At the office, they said they had over 10 cancellations nightly due to the virus outbreak, but, every night, the park had new folks filling it up to capacity. This KOA is simply outstanding! The owners are fabulous, very accommodating and wonderful sense of humours! They we're also filled with a wealth of information. The campground facilities themselves we're wonderful, nice large pull through sites with full hook ups, some small shade trees and nice level gravel pads. Very clean rest rooms with nice hot showers, a laundry area, propane filling station, a fenced in dog area, free wifi, and a free continental breakfast in the morning! Upon checking in we were given a dog bone for our sidekick Sandy and also were each given a delicious cookie that hit the spot after hours of driving! The best part and unexpected was it sits in a lava field! Lots of lava formations around the grounds AND a nice nature trail with signs explaining the history of the lava flow! All in all it was a wonderful place to stay and we look forward to returning in the future! read more

Stayed here one night. Quiet & convenient spot, super clean and super friendly. Turkey and BBQ dinners delivered to our site were delicious as was the Apple pie and ice cream! They have a couple of enclosed dog areas but you can walk at the back of the camp. These are new owners (2020) who have had major infrastructure challenges with the park since purchasing but have dealt with each problem as and when they cropped up and everything was working fine for us, but they still came to our site and personally checked we had everything working and were happy.
